Great reviews on Yelp guided us to The English Bus for our tour of Stonehenge. I liked the idea of a small group tour. We had a great experience! We easily booked on line a couple months in advance of our trip to Stonehenge, Bath and a Secret Place. I had a few questions, which were answered quickly through email. Instructions and itinerary were provided after we bought we tickets. Additional and helpful information was sent a few day prior to our trip. Noelh, our tour guide, was knowledgable, interesting and fun from the moment he picked us up in London. He provided information beyond the tour stops. He was engaging and had a good understanding of the geology of Stonehenge as well as the historical background. He made well time stops for breaks. We spent about two hours at Stonehenge, two hours at Bath and an hour at the Secret Place. The Secret Place was worth the extra and I highly recommend. Noelh offered a brief and interesting walking tour at each site and left us time to explore on our own. We were allowed to bring snacks on the bus but we didn't need them because we stopped plenty at places for food and drink. Noelh provided water. Bring water and rain gear. There were UBC ports for phone charging on the bus. The bus was very comfortable. Noelh was sensitive to a woman that was having mobility issues and arranged for her to skip part of the walking tour. I enjoyed Stonehenge and the Secret Place immensely, I was glad I saw Bath, but it was too crowded during our visit. Others on the tour really loved Bath. Tommy was awesome! We loved Bath! Go to the places he suggests. The Cotswolds were lovely and we got to see where "War Horse" was filmed. Stonehenge is incredible. How people got those rocks in those spots aligned with the solstice- it's baffling with their simple tools. read more

We looked for an easy way to get out of central London on a guided tour that had great reviews and were lucky to find The English Bus! Andy was a great tour guide taking us to Stonehenge, Bath, and a Cotswold Village. We learned a lot along the drive from Andy and enjoyed the air conditioned, comfortable Mercedes that he drove. We had such a great experience on our day tour with The English Bus, visiting Bath, Stonehenge, and a charming village in the Cotswolds. Cara was great at providing options and a map in Bath so that depending on what we wanted to do, or what we were interested in, we had a direction once we were dropped off. Really a perfect day - small group, funny but not-too-much driver/guide. The "secret place" in the Cotswalds sounded fishy but was really cool. Only shop there was two old ladies selling ice cream bars from their stoop. Be sure to buy the Bath tickets in advance - well worth it. read more

I want to recommend The English Bus for anyone looking to do a day trip to Stonehenge and Bath from London. They have small 16 passenger vans that allow for quicker loading and unloading and it also gives the driver the option to take smaller off the beaten roads larger buses can't. The best part of the tour was our guide Andy. He provided a comprehensive description and history of the places we were driving by on our way out of London. And his knowledge about Stonehenge made the experience better than I imagined. Same quality, engaging history and stories about Bath. A plus was his background as a roadie and love for football made for fun conversations. Bonus part of our tour was a stop at a secret location that was a beautiful stop in the English countryside absent of large groups of tourists. read more

Found them after calling nearly a dozen tour agencies, none doing the specific Stonehenge Bath Cotswolds day trip. Usually not too keen on guided tours but must say was a memorable experience. Learnt so much from guide Andy who was clearly so knowledgeable and passionate about English history culture and interesting insights into London too. It is quite a skill to keep that up while driving safely, great job! As I was doing a solo trip, the small group and informal conversation felt quite comfortable. A small suggestion is to reduce Bath time by 45 mts and instead increase Stonehenge time by 30 mts, Cotswolds time by 15 mts. Absolutely recommend! read more

There were a few companies offering day trips from London to Bath and Stonehenge. I did my research on the tour companies that offered the trip and I'm glad I settled with The English Bus after reading their reviews on TripAdvisor. Well organized from the time I ordered the ticket to the day before the trip email with a link to the exact spot where the bus will pick you up. This was a few weeks ago back but our tour bus (I traveled by myself but this is a small tour group so there will be others with you). Chris was a wonderful tour guide and drive. Along the way out of London, we passed by several important buildings like the Mi6 HQ and historical neighborhoods and he presented lots of interesting facts of those places. Even when we were finally driving out to the countryside, Chris had lots of helpful information about stuff along the way. He even gave some quiet time during the trip if people wanted to take a nap but I enjoyed looking out the window and taking in the view. Stonehenge visit was towards the end of the trip but it was perfect timing as it wasn't too crowded and you could actually take photos without random people in the frame. If I find myself in London and I would definitely go on one of the other tours that The English Bus offer. Their tour bus vans fit up to 18 people (I think) and because of that I love the more intimate setting and feeling connected. I'd rather have a more personal experience rather than being herded into a huge tour bus with no customer service. The ride was comfortable going to each locations and back to London. read more

Best tour guide ever! We spent the day with our tour guide Johnny and 13 other guests. Johnny showed us the birth place of Shakespear, the English countryside and Oxford. The trip was quite long, 11 hours in total, but it didn't feel too long. The group was very international and fun, Johnny gave 2 walking tours and even during the driving time he cracked jokes. We had been researching optional day trips and were attracted to THE ENGLISH BUS for three reasons: 1) It was a reasonably priced, day-long trip that would get us outside the city of London. 2) It included the 3-stops including Stonehenge which we knew a little about, The city of BATH which we knew nothing about and a "secret" third stop. 3) It has the highest review rating I'd ever seen... nearly 5-stars with well over 2000 ratings! We did the Canterbury, Dover, and Kent. There is lots of walking throughout the day, but there are areas where you can stop and provide water. He was absolutely incredible. Our family has taken tours all over Europe and we have never had a tour guide who had the trove of knowledge that Johny had in the historic sites we were visiting. Additionally, the bus we took was small and there were only a few other families on our tour which allowed us to ask Johny any questions about the historical sites. On July 7, 2023, my husband and I embarked on a tour to Stonehenge, Bath and a mystery location (to remain a mystery) via The English Bus. Having researched several tours and companies in advance, I'm so glad that I went with The English Bus as the trip/tour was phenomenal. While this was in part due to the beautiful locations and scenery, our enjoyment largely stemmed from our wonderful tour guide, Lucy. She was very charming and knowledgable throughout the trip. While that is likely par for the course, her guidance never seemed rehearsed or stagnant. She clearly has a passion for sharing her knowledge of history and architecture. She was an absolute delight - she remembered all of her passenger's names, was humorous, and engaging. Despite my jet lag (compounded by my lack of sleep prior to traveling) she managed to hold my attention throughout the ride, despite my drowsiness. She asks pertinent questions to get to know her guests better and also engages in trivia and lovely banter. So much so that following the tour, each time we were in a cab, Uber, and while on a double decker tour bus, I would tell my husband, "I miss Lucy. If only she were here to provide her insightful commentary." She is so warm and friendly, that you just want to keep hanging out with her - I wanted to grab a pint with her and chat some more! And that's saying a lot for us because we're normally not formal tour people (solo or recorded guidance is our norm). Lucy turned what i thought would be a fairly ordinary trip into a memorable experience that left a lasting impression. (Not to mention, after we were dropped off, she made the effort to swiftly run my husbands cell phone to him, who was unaware it had slipped from his pocket. Phew!) Also commendable - the bus was brand new vehicle that was roomy and super comfortable. Our driver, Jen, was also a joy. She was very friendly and traversed the twisty roads, hills, and sharp turns (and lorries!) deftly. Bottled water was graciously provided and replenished after running out. Booking the trip directly on The English Bus' website was easy and straight forward, with clear information and instruction provided (I was wary of booking via Viator as their site didn't seem as clear). Every detail was executed smoothly and required next to no effort on our part. Clearly I effusively recommend The English Bus. (I promise that I am in no way affiliated with the company!) And my heartfelt kudos to Lucy and Jen. I am grateful to them from providing such a lovely experience, which was a highlight to our trip to London. read more

I love that the "secret place" gave Lilly the flexibility to choose our last stop based on time of year (in November, it was dark by the time we were leaving our second stop), personality of the group, and the amount of time available. I hope to return to London with a bit more time to explore someday, and will certainly look them up and take another tour when I do. read more

It's a small company and from start to finish, they give you very personalized service. We took the Bath, Cotswolds and Stonehenge with Tony as our guide. My husband and I went on two all-day tours with The English bus. We went on the Oxford tour which included Stratford-Upon-Avon and The Cotswolds. Our guide Andy was a wealth of knowledge sharing the history of each location with interesting tidbits along the way. The best part was Andy's walking tour of Oxford and getting to see and learn about Radcliffe Camera, the Bodleian, and many more. Our second tour was to Stonehenge, Bath and "secret place". Stonehenge was absolutely unbelievable! Bath was gorgeous, and the secret place was a quaint small village in the countryside. Cara, our tour guide, was the best, and you could tell that she loves her job, sharing so many stories with honest enthusiasm. Both drivers were quite safe and attentive. Our coach was practically brand new and very comfortable. With the small group, the guides were able to be get to know each of us a little and encouraged questions.
