We looked for an easy way to get out of central London on a guided tour that had great reviews and were lucky to find The English Bus! Andy was a great tour guide taking us to Stonehenge, Bath, and a Cotswold Village. We learned a lot along the drive from Andy and enjoyed the air conditioned, comfortable Mercedes that he drove. He was a very good communicator of information, with good humor as well, and kept us on time! If you like a smaller group tour experience I would highly recommend this business! Our tour had adults and seniors and everyone was pleasant and seemed to have a nice time.

Book with Cara and The English Bus!!! She's engaging and fun and kind and took great care of us which made for a wonderful day!! She was so knowledgeable about the places we visited. We did the trip with Stonehenge, Bath and the Cotswolds. Lots of history and also fun facts. We had a perfect amount of time in each location. Cara was great at providing options and a map in Bath so that depending on what we wanted to do, or what we were interested in, we had a direction once we were dropped off. We did another trip the day before and it paled in comparison. I wish we'd known to book with The English Bus!! Why are you still reading? Go book with them!!

What a wonderful tour of Stonehenge, Bath, and a "secret place" that we never would have discovered on our own. Cara was a fabulous tour guide- so warm and friendly that within 5 minutes of meeting her, we knew we would have a wonderful day and be taken care of! The tour ran like clockwork, and Cara had us back just on time despite some highway delays. I can't say enough about our guide and our fun day- I will not hesitate to book through The English Bus again next time!!! Thank you, Cara!

There's no words to describe how amazing our Tour was thanks to Johnny at the English Bus. My boyfriend convinced me to go on the tour and I was hesitant, but Johnny made the experience so informative and fun! He knows SO MUCH and was prepared for everything. The tour started with Stonehenge, then Bath and lastly, the Cotswolds. I would 100% come back and bring friends on this tour again. If you are researching tours, this is THE tour to take.

Tip: I recommend showing up at a bus tour stop to purchase your pass (ticket). I bought a two-day…read morepass and got a third day for free. That deal currently doesn't exist on the Big Bus Tours site. I find it helpful doing a bus tour in a city that you are visiting for the first time. I've done such tours in Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Shanghai, and London. Of course, it's also fun to take a tour when you've been in a city before. New York comes to mind. Anyway, I decided to get a ticket from Big Bus Tours when I was doing touristy things in Piccadilly Circus. I am normally a planner (I got a city pass to various tourist attractions), but for tours, I show up at the stop. There's a reason why I do it. You can often get a deal. I ended up getting a three-day pass, but I only paid for two days. It was nice to get an extra day for free. There were three different routes that this bus company offers. I did all three, which was great. You get a pair of headphones and you listen to the audio detailing what you are seeing. It's informative and fun. You can choose the language that you want. You hop on a double-decker bus that allows you to hop off to visit a touristy site (Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, Big Ben, etc.) and hop back on when you're done. Naturally, if you want to stay for the full tour, it's cool, too. Top floor is best for taking photos, which I did. It was December when I was in London. I recommend wearing a hat, a warm coat, and gloves to keep warm. It can get a bit windy, but I was fine. It did rain on my last day, so I sat inside. Taking photos was fine, but you deal with the window in front of you and potential glare. It was comfortable and a great learning experience as a tourist. I recommend it if you have a chance while in London. (45)

Horrible experience. By the way, we saw multiple buses coma and go from the other companies as we waited. Don't use Big Bus!!!! Ted, the 3rd driver was nice. Ted, I'd suggest switch companies.

We read the reviews and understood we were going to need some patience. The problem with many reviews were the meeting instructions (via TripAdvisor) so we went to the Baker Street location a day early to scout it out. We could not find signage for Golden Tours. We did see a Harry Potter bus dropping off a group and assumed (wrongly) that the spot was also the meeting spot. Actually they do have a location (store front) near the Baker street stop. It is not on Baler Street. If you come out of the tube and turn away from the wax museum, you will find their store from down the next block. That is the meeting spot point for tours! Very important thing to know and find -- because you have to meet there to get your tickets beforehand. We missed our bus time despite arriving 45 minutes early. The staff was less than kind about this part of the trip and made no apologies for the lack of directions. They gave us headphones but there was no movie on our bus. We had set our expectations low for our son, due to the reviews so we didn't mind -- but there were some disappointed families near us. The bus was clean enough but no WiFi and the phone charges didn't work on most seats. The driver for this portion of our trip was great and very helpful given that he had to help us find someone on site to get our Entry tickets. Despite the set backs, we finally had tickets in hand and enjoyed the studio tour from here on out on our own. The trip back was easy enough but this bus driver was less friendly and at one point was screaming at another driver along a busy street in London. We actually found it comical and thought it added to the busy city feel, but I could see how many guests would find this very unsettling. All in all, it is OK if this is the way you can get entry tickets to something on your must see list, but if you have options - I'd try another company.

There was no direction or distraction to go upper beck or lower. When I arrived to the top, it was already full. I know everyone there did not pay for upper deck, because they just let everyone up on a first come first serve basis. When we confronted the guides, they refused to check everyone's ticket. We did not get the experience we paid for, and there is an up charge to sit on the upper deck. Also, the driver clearly did not know the route! The guide kept telling him he's going the wrong way and we were stuck in traffic in the wrong place most of the time. The driver made an illegal u-turn, that put the everyone in danger. The driver did this twice, and there was clearly conflict between the guide and driver. Would not recommend this company. They did not try to rectify the situation, did not honor those that paid for their spot, and overall not enjoyable with the conflict with driver and guide. Update *** they offered me a 25% refund, which is a very low compensation for what I paid for. What makes this company even more of a scam, they are asking via email for my bank account and routing number for the refund. I told them I do not feel comfortable and just refund to the card I purchased the tickets with. THEY ARE A SCAM. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST.

Excellent way to see the city and cover a lot of ground, so to speak. We were fortunate to be sitting next to some locals, so they helped to narrate the buildings in the areas that we were driving by. Big help! The biggest challenge was finding the meeting spot. A bit frustrating but we managed to finally find the group in time, so give yourself time on the front end! The food was good, but the service was just average. The server would deliver drinks and meals to the 3 men directly next to us and then we'd wait for 15-20 minutes until we got any attention - really odd. They need coaching or more experienced wait staff to deliver in a sequence down the bus by sections.

This was definitely a unique experience for me and my husband. We hadn't done a dinner bus tour…read morepreviously, so we weren't quite sure what to expect. I'll caveat this by saying that our trip consisted of going to London & Paris, and we did the dinner tour in both locations. If it were just the London experience, I might have rated this 3 stars but the Paris one was clearly better .. I'll get more into that in my Paris review. But here were my thoughts of our London experience. First, it was probably more confusing than it needed to be to find the bus; when you enter in the address given on the website, maps puts you at a location inside the park, which closes way before the bus arrives for the dinner tour, so you're to actually arrive at the bus stop right outside the park. We had done the dinner & drink experience, so we were given champagne when we boarded. The menu was comprised of a tuna tartare, beet root tartare, pan seared cod, beef fillet, Brie cheese course, and a cream filled pastry for dessert. Overall, I thought it was a pretty well planned menu given that it was served on a bus, with sizable portions. There were components of each dish that I enjoyed but overall, things often looked better than they tasted (a bit bland). I believe our host's name was Jackson; he was great. There was another lady who seemed like she'd rather be anywhere else than on the bus and really took away from our experience. I had asked for a couple of things (more water and an extra utensil for dessert) and didn't get them. While we did the dinner tour because it covered more ground, I'd probably recommend lunch, if at all, to be able to see the sites. I'm not sure if it was a WiFi issue but the map didn't load for us and there were only a couple of sites mentioned to us so we didn't known where we were. With it being dark and the lights in the bus being on, it was hard to see outside.

Running from Fulham Broadway to Liverpool Street station, the route takes in a whole load of classic sights, as well as useful transport hubs such as Victoria coach and train stations, and Sloane Square, Charing Cross, Mansion House and Bank railway/tube stations. It was even better when they used the old Routemasters, but you still get a great view from the front of the top deck. If you go straight through, the off-peak journey time is around an hour end to end, although most people are likely to travel between Victoria and St Paul's. The route starts in Fulham Broadway, and then travels the length of the King's Road in Chelsea as far as Sloane Square, when the sights begin to really start: the Chelsea Hospital, Westminster Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Parliament Square and the Houses of Parliament, Whitehall (passing Downing Street and Horseguards Parade), Trafalgar Square, the Strand, the Aldwych (with all its churches), the Royal Courts of Justice, St Paul's Cathedral and the Bank of England. Not bad for a single fare of £1. At various times I've used this to travel to and from work when I worked in Whitehall. The frequency in my experience tends towards the lower end (ie every 10 minutes) although it has improved in recent years. Still, it's a great way to see lots of sights for very little cash, and if you have an Oyster card or travelcard, you can use it as a hop-on, hop-off service.

The notion that I would be getting shown around by, or transported by an actual duck were soon put to rest when I saw that we would be getting shown around in an odd looking little yellow bus thing. Imagine my surprise when after driving around for a short while the driver decided to drive straight into the Thames River. Luckily, the odd little yellow bus thing actually turns into a boat, of sorts. The reason this tour is so popular, I'd imagine, is because of exactly that; it's a road vehicle that can turn into a boat. That novelty alone would compel almost anyone to shell out £19. If you're a tourist; then why not. If you're going to do the bus tours, why not get on a weird yellow thing that also turns into a boat. But if you're a local - then think twice. Because it wasn't long into this tour that I realised I had just done what I promised myself I would never do; get an atypical tourist ride around London. The novelty of being on the water wears off in about nine seconds. Especially when you have a really annoying know-it-all tour guide. And as the dude hogging the microphone with his really weird moustache tells you "and this is Westminster..." you can't help but feel you would have been better off at home. It's not that there is anything fundamentally wrong with this tour, or my disgust that historic World War 2 boats have been turned into yellow tourist fodder - but simply, it just isn't really all that good or worthy of your money. Which brings me to my final point - which is certainly interesting. It turns out that these little yellow boat things are actually converted vehicles from the 1940's that were used during World War 2. In fact, it's entirely possible that this yellow thing that is showing you around London was a part of the D-Day invasions on Normandy. As someone who World War 2 is very important to; I would much rather see these in museums in their original state than painted yellow and showing tourists around; but that's just personal opinion.
