I hired Jack Treiger Moving and Storage for only two reasons which I made known from the start. 1) In 1996 they moved me and one of their employees empressed me so much I didn't consider anyone else. 2) I have a canopy bed that needed to be broken down and re assembled. They were asked if they were equipped and had tools to handle the bed. I was assured that they could handle it they do this all the time. Well much to my surprise I was asked if I had anything that they could use to take apart the bed. Good thing I didn't pack away the 4in wrench and octagon screw bit that came with the bed. This is what was used instead of a drill or ratchet that would have taken less time. Eventually the crew leader came in to try to take charge (weak attempt) and was so frustrated that my less than six month old bed took the brunt of his frustration and the railing was ripped off of the frame. Total accident though it wouldn't have occurred if the crew was properly prepared and managed. On this issue only let's jump to the otherside...before we left the first place I asked if we had all of the peices that go to the bed several times because I knew the bed had a lot of parts. I was assured that they have all of the pieces. When we arrived they got to the bed assembly and surprised surprise the bed is 90% finished and the legs to the supporting structure for the mattress was missing. Where was it left... at the previous location. The good thing was that I still had access. THE BAD THING, I needed to cancel my new mattress delivery for the next day. They were also informed that I had clothing on wheeled racks. I was told that they didn't want to use those because they didn't want to get the clothes dirty. They're sending over wardrobes. This was fine, however, when I complained about one of the workers who was not carrying his weight and extending the time of the move. I was told that I wasn't prepared. That's true if the company fails to deliver the wardrobes in advance of the move. Additionally, if you have to ask several times for them during the move you aren't going to be prepared. Learn from my mistake do your research when you are paying $50/person/hour. Oh additionally they're probably going to give you incorrect information for the PaPUC to file a complaint. I got a couple of quotes for a small one bedroom apartment move to NYC. Jack Treier had the best price. I had never used them before and was pleasantry surprised with the experience. They were very prompt and professional from the estimate, pack up, and delivery. I was contact when needed to keep me informed. 12/2015 This is the third time I have used United for moving. They packed all the small items that were to be moved. Then when I received occupancy permit to move into the house they managed to get me moved in short notice. Loaded truck one day and then moved items next and unloaded. I don't know when I have worked with a group that is so willing to please! I know it is there job but they continued to smile even in the pouring rain. New hardwood floors protected and that sure is important! One item would not go up stairs so they tried outside deck. Got it upstairs but would not fit inside door. No problem will take apart, with a smile. The item is now in the room. Every item is labeled with a sticker and accounted for upon arrival. We had a moving date promised and then suddenly they reneged on it. When explaining I was upset and why, all I got was a "Sorry". Nothing about trying to make it right or helping. Just "Sorry". I would stay away from this company and find another one. If they are willing to throw away a $2000 move with just one word, I can't imagine how the would act after we paid!! read more

I am really disappointed with these folks. I called them for an estimate for packing (as a third party mover is moving us). The representative was not at all professional. He called me three days after he was here and told me that they were not interested in my business. Lousy service. We did a local move with Jack Treier and had an estimate for an interstate move for which we ultimately selected someone else. Steve Treier was the estimator on both moves and he does great work. He's friendly, very straightforward, asks good questions, and explains things fairly well. The local move went well. Pickup and delivery were as expected. There were no surprises with price. There was little damage. We chose not to go with them for the interstate move mostly because of price. They came in about 20% higher than the company we ultimately contracted with and had the highest price of all estimates we received. Had the price been lower, we would have gone with Treier again, and I have no problem recommending their services. read more

We used them for a move through United Van Lines. We packed our own boxes, but their movers disassembled our furniture and put everything on the truck. The estimate process was very easy, and we were able to set a price at that time which included everything - no chance of magically "owing" more money at time of delivery, so that was a major fear put to rest. The pick-up was a day late. Not ideal. To their credit, they were very up front about this, and communicated with me often. Two days before the move, they began calling me to update me on the status of the truck. We used container shipping, so the container was not there yet. The movers were...ok. There were two of them, and they were very nice, though not very professional. My biggest complaint is that they loaded a tv box (which said "THIS SIDE UP" in very large print on the side) upside down. It ended up ok, but I was not happy when I saw it during unloading. They also didn't use any of the protective floor covering, bumpers, etc. so my floors were filthy afterwards. Luckily we were cleaning the carpets anyway, I guess. I will say their office staff is awesome. They were great at staying in touch with us, answering questions, and helping us with minor things that pop up when moving. A couple pieces of furniture got some dings in them, which is a bummer, but nothing was broken, our stuff arrived 3000 miles away in our new home (mostly) undamaged, and I didn't owe any extra money on delivery. We recently moved a grand piano across country using these guys. On both ends, the movers were extremely professional and knew what they were doing. It was clear they had moved many pianos before. They were extremely careful and did not take any shortcuts any time during the loading/unloading. Jack Trier arranged everything, including bringing in specialists to tie down the hammers to avoid movement during shipment. On the delivery side, the guys were very proficient about getting the piano into our home and set up the way we wanted it. The piano arrived in pristine condition, no scratches or other damage. They took great care in wrapping it in blankets and then in plastic. Jack Trier/UnitedVanLines also arranged a smaller delivery truck, and transferred the piano to it from a large moving van before delivering to our home in the mountains. Other moving services we checked out didn't want to deal with this. I also liked the ability to check the progress of the move each day online via the United Van Lines website. I would definitely recommend these guys and United Van Lines for any type of move. read more

I have used Jack Trier for the second time in less than one year; first time was to move my mother from Maryland to Las Vegas. The experience was so effortless that I used them again to move myself from Maryland to El Paso, TX. After 20 years in the Army, I must say, this was my best move ever. Timeliness, professionalism, and care for my goods was all top-shelf. Not only did we get a refund for my mother's move because her load was less than estimated, but I called them on a Friday during a snow storm to come estimate my move... Steve was there on Tuesday and my pack out was the following Monday without hesitation. He was upfront about all costs and what to expect. He brought me all the supplies I requested to pack myself since I wanted to keep the cost down a bit. I had no worries about ALL of my belongings being delivered whatsoever. I would not recommend these guys for moving. They lost some of my stuff. Disappeared into thin air. Extremely disappointed and do not recommend. Update: Owner/manager responds without knowing what happened and proceeds to blame the customer. Nothing was left in any cabinets, and in fact some items from the counter didn't make it either. And I have pictures that nothing was left on the counter and I checked all the cabinets. If it was just the cabinet with the glasses where did the stuff on the counter end up? We went with this company because we had a long distance move (Hershey, PA to Miami FL) and we are both VERY busy to deal with renting a truck and doing it ourselves. So we splurged on what we thought were professional hassle free movers to make it easy on us. HA! I went along with them bc I previously used United van lines from Detroit MI area to Hershey and they were fabulous (contractor was Corrigan movers). Jack Trier should not be allowed to be part of United if United wants to uphold their promise of quality and hassle free moves. I am coming on here to write my review 4 months later because I am STILL furious about my experience, and I deal with the inconveniences they served me until NOW. My blood boils every time I remember our move!!!!!!!!! Or see the evidence of their unprofessionalism with our few but treasured valuables. First of all, the agent who came to me guaranteed me that upon arrival of the movers on our move date I would be given an EXACT date and time of delivery in MIAMI. This was a critical thing for us as my husband works in a hospital, has no vacation and I was 7 months pregnant at the time, and who wants to be stranded in FL waiting in hotels/motels for their belongings to arrive. Id also like to add that Allied Vanlines offered to give me an exact delivery date as soon as I booked (and they successfully did this as promised for my other friend who also moved from Hershey PA at the same time), but unfortunately I opted to go with United simply bc I used them before and had a good experience. Little did I know that Jack Trier is full of conniving, unprofessional staff. Needless to say on our move out date, they had no info for our scheduled arrival and we were furious and my husband called the headquarters and manager to address this and we were led to believe that our shipment will most likely arrive in 3 days. Our mistake was believing them and not canceling our move right then and there. Had we sent them back to their warehouse and loaded our things onto a rental truck we drove ourselves at that point, things would have turned out a lot better. Long story short, we received our things exactly 2 weeks later, the latest they are allowed to deliver. OUr loader/driver quit in the midst of the drive, we lost track of our shipment and had to KEEP on calling and following up to make sure things were coming. Secondly after we accepted the fact that we would just have to waste a lot of money on hotels and dining out, and eventually sleeping on the floor of our unfurnished apt, we were disappointed to find our things were damaged upon arrival. Minor damages perhaps, but I am so careful with my things, that I can accept anything less than PERFECT condition. Which is what you should get when spending over$3000 on small move. We only had 1 bedroom worth of furniture, but each piece is VERY valuable and expensive. Our expensive leather couch was carelessly scuffed with white marks as the loaders had thrown the cushions onto the sidewalk as they wrapped up everything. Our expensive, brand new king size mattress which was supposed to be packed into a mattress box professionally to protect it from moisture and insects was jammed into 2 twin boxes instead with gaps and openings. It was not closed from the top and as a result the mattress was scratched and marked with dirt. I am super germophobic and cannot stop thinking about what insects could have gotten into the box as well! Gross. One of my side chairs' legs(wooden) was severely scratched and damaged with a huge dent! Lastly our beloved laundry hamper, also pricey for a hamper, was missing pieces to assemble it back together. I had to request the unloaders search again to find all the parts. Finally they did, except for one WHEEL. Which renders the hamper useless because its now lopsided and cannot roll to my laundry room!!!! Which honestly infuriates me every time I have to LUG the thing to the laundry room or it topples over in the bathroom because I had to add a make-shift wheel that doesn't properly fit. Bottom line, none of these things should happen from a company that hails itself as PROFESSIONAL and HASSLE FREE. It was the most hassling and unprofessional experience for us, and extremely stressful throughout the entire process. On top of all that, Jack Treiers management did not care to apologize or make things better, they do not believe in customer satisfaction and really failed to make up for all these problems. We were supposed to receive a customer satisfaction survey after the job, but we never got one- because they know they were awful! !I want to make my complaints known to them in person and I want to be reimbursed for my damages. I will make sure that everyone we know in the Central PA area does not go through what we went through! I also will not go with United vanlines again because they did not do anything to help us either. They should not contract with such poor companies as Jack Treier's. TERRIBLE!! read more

I have had several moves and have never been happy with my movers. So, needless to say, I was very unhappy I had to have a mover at all. I got their name from Angie's List and they had excellent reviews and were insured. I got an estimate from them and another mover. The other mover wanted to charge me almost $2000.00 more, had a deductible on the extra insurance I wanted to take out and kept putting a moving in date within a WEEK of them picking up my furniture. I was going from PA to Delaware. I wanted it in the next day. And apparently they didn't have exclusive use of their trucks and I would have had my stuff loaded in with other peoples. No way that was going to happen. I hired Jack Treier and they packed all my things in one day, came back the next day to load and were finished loading by 2pm. And getting up my driveway was no small task. I lived on the very top of a mountain, up a gravel driveway with "some" turnaround room. They showed up the day of the move with a 36' truck and a smaller one, just in case they had to shuttle the furniture down to the start of the driveway to the large truck. I had to close my eyes as he was turning the huge truck around because it scared the hell out of me. I have a drop off at the edge of the driveway. But he did it and I must say, I was impressed. They didn't need the smaller truck and I wasn't charged anything extra for that even though that wasn't in the original estimate. The driver just wanted to be absolutely sure the move went smoothly and there weren't any unplanned for surprises, so he brought the extra truck. The next day they showed up bright and early in DE to unload for me and were done about 1pm. Everything was delivered in excellent condition, nothing was missing and the three men they had doing the move were EXCEPTIONAL. The previous owner had left some furniture in my new house and they had no problem moving it around for me and making sure everything was the way I wanted it. They even took her old washer, dryer and stove that she left in the basement and put it out on the curb to be picked up for me. They were pleasant, polite, professional and a pleasure to work with. As was everyone I dealt with during the move. I can't say enough good things about them. And the price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend them. read more

I had a horrible experience with company and can't recommend them to use as your moving company. I'm going to point out the only positive, and that was the actual movers. They were extremely hard workers and a pleasure to meet! Now the bad part. My move day was on a Tuesday, and Memorial Day was the day before the move. I was told that I'd receive a call, regarding the time that movers would be showing up, the Friday before the move. I received no time from them on that Friday. The day before the move I was told the movers would be there between 8-9am. On the day of the move I received an email at 8:55am stating that the movers wouldn't be there until 12-2, but it would probably be closer to 12. The movers didn't show up until around 2:30. The president of the company showed up to apologize and acted like he was going to pitch in and help the movers get this done faster for me and the movers. He did very little, if anything at all, and left almost right away. Didn't even come close to making it to the new house. Avoid yourself aggravation and lost time. Find yourself another moving company. UPDATE-------------------- I also forgot to mention that they sent the wrong size truck and needed to make two trips. They didn't really give me a discount. They just didn't charge me for their error for sending the wrong truck and wasting more of my time. I should've received an actual discount for the 6 hours they kept me waiting. From the scheduling and confirmation, to the unbelievable work ethic of the moving team, your organization is absolutely top notch. We had an excellent experience with our move across country. From the start, our moving estimator was professional, as were our movers themselves, at both our old and new homes. But the stand-out hero was the person who communicated with us during the process, who gave us regular updates on both vehicle and household goods, and who said that if at any point we were unsatisfied, to let her know and she would be happy to make sure we were 100% happy. We did run into one snag which was a moving truck that had not arrived by the time expected, but when we called to get an update, our contact made certain that they were on their way (they were 15 minutes late, so not a big problem). This one snag was handled extremely professionally by our contact and so we ended up feeling supported and in great hands during our move. During the stressful time of moving, it was so helpful to know that if we did run into any problems or delays, we had a main point of contact whose main role was communication with us. read more

I have had a WONDERFUL experience with Jack Treier Moving many times. In fact, I would only use them. I have moved many times locally, as well as to Georgia, North Carolina and the other side of the state of Pennsylvania. They have always been GREAT. I have never had damage and their guys have been like family. In fact, my grown son and daughter have used them for out of state moves and also things went exceedingly well. They have had experience with other moves that were horrible and so went with our local movers, Treier's, and were happy they did. I have been using this company for over 30 years with many trusted valuables and would wait for weeks to have them because their crews are so great and trustworthy. I can only speak from our experiences but they have been many and would highly recommend them whether they are the United trucks or the Mayflower trucks from York. If you are making a long distance move but do not have enough to fill the truck, they will have to piggyback you to another move. ALL movers do this. That is why they are not exact on giving delivery dates. I guess I have moved so many times in my life that I know what to expect. Also, buy insurance. Total nightmare of a company with NO customer service skills and NO accountability for their actions. The day of our cross-country move from PA to TX, we found out our sales rep (Steve Trier) underestimated the truck size we needed and had to leave the rest of our stuff on our driveway until they could find a backup truck. They ended up spreading our shipment across three different trucks shared with other families and told us it could take several days before they even had some sort of answer as to when we would get our things-- possibly weeks away. When I called Steve Trier directly, he had no empathy, never said sorry and told me "that's how the moving business is and what was I so worried about." We've moved six times and have never come across anything like this. He was downright rude and abrasive after I told him he was legally obligated by the contract we signed to have our possessions moved within 10 days. I called United corporate offices, the internal support staff at their own location, and eventually even talked to the owner Jack Trier, who although very polite on the phone and told me the customer is number one, never called me back with the update he promised or any word at all. Long story short, the drivers really tried hard to make up for the disaster by calling us every few days with updates, as we sat in our new house with two kids and dog and no beds or personal possessions outside of our suitcases for a week. Yes, there were a lot of damaged items, which can happen, and I plan to submit claims for it. But in the long run, to make up for it after my several phone calls, they only offered a box pick-up worth $75 (per the receipt). We paid $12,000 for the move. Not quite what I would call good customer service. But the most disconcerting fact is how they do not return phone calls, show no empathy, and definitely put customers LAST. read more

If I could give them less than 1 star I would. The packing crew packed a fryer full of oil and ruined several appliances. The moving crew was extremely slow and refused to wrap our furniture so almost every piece of furniture they moved is scratched or dented. Everyone we dealt with was informative and friendly (Steve our estimator), Linda ( our coordinator), and Pat (front office help with box purchases) started us off in a great direction. This company may be good with moving you locally but they are not with moving across the states. This moving company damaged several pieces of furniture and had lost a box of my household items. I had insurance on the items but this company does not honor payment of the insurance for loss or damaged items. Once they have your payment in full for the move, the customer service is gone. I wish I had read the previously posted review from Noha. I chose this company b/c I was moving from York, PA to Boston and thought since they were a part of United, it would be the smartest investment. They not only lost many of my belongings, but also damaged over $2500 worth of my property. I filed a claim and after 6 months, have finally received payment, but for only $600 of the stuff!! Completely ridiculous. The only person who responded to my phone calls was Lynda, who was lovely. Suzanne not only didn't return phone calls or emails, but was also very unkind to work with. Even nailing down a delivery date was tricky, making it difficult to take off from work (sorry if I have a job?) and coordinate schedules. The delivery men were very nice, though not exactly the quickest or most in-shape guys. They did, however, hustle when bad weather arrived. All in all, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I hope United reads these reviews and realizes the issue they have. read more

We hired Jack Treier based upon the word of a gentleman that I worked with. The company that I worked for used them multiple times with only positive results. We scheduled a move from Central PA area to Northern VA last year. Our move was more complicated than most due to the fact that we had to store about 70% our personal property with Jack Trier in Mt. Joy while we had our new home built. The other 30% was moved to an apartment in Northern VA while we were waiting on the completion of our new home. We were assigned Jack's son as our representative and he made at least 3 trips to our home and storage facility to come up with 3 different quotes ranging from $10,000 to $13,000. We finally settled on the not to exceed $13,000 quote (which I thought was incredibly expensive, but I felt that you get what you pay for). We had 2 different teams come to our home on 2 days, one packed up all the items which were going to storage and the other packed up all the items to be delivered in (I think) 2 days to the apartment. Both teams were incredibly professional and I have no complaints with regards to these teams. Please note that one item in our move was a slate pool table that was to be torn down, stored and installed at the final location, per specific line items in the contract. Everything came to the apartment with no issues. We then got notification from Jack Trier that they were going to charge us an additional $2000. They said they didn't get the quote right. We, of course, opened a dialogue with the company regarding their firm, not to exceed quote. We were told that if we want our stuff out of storage that we would pay the additional $2K...our stuff was being held hostage! What could we do? We paid. We organized the delivery of our stuff to it's location in our new home in Northern VA and things went reasonably smooth, until the large truck arrived at our new home and the driver told us that he couldn't make it up our driveway and we would need to be charged $100 for each 'shuttle' up our driveway to our new home. We requested a copy of any documentation that notified us of this possibility that we would have to pay additional funds at the destination (it turned out to be an additional $1,100). They, of course, could not produce any such documents and neither could the home office. We then got a wink, wink, nod, nod from the driver saying that we should 'take care of; the guys (tip), which we would have done anyway. Then, the pool table...they decided that they didn't allow enough money on the pool table installation line so they just weren't going to do it! We made every effort to get Jack Trier to abide by the contract, but they would not. My husband came up with the idea of including the installation as a claim along with the broken items (minor stuff). The insurance company agreed that per the contract it should be installed and they paid for it, but it took more than 3 months to get it accomplished. I would NEVER use them again. read more

From the office staff to the individuals doing the lifting, hauling and placement of my belongings - all were courteous and professional at all times. Theses folks turned a difficult, stressful situation into a easy-going, sometimes humorous, fast move with no worries! My belongings were well cared for. Anything I asked was granted. I am a perfectionist and it was not too much trouble to move my huge entertainment center "a little more to the left, a little more to the right, now smidge back to the left..." - all done with a smile and in an effort to make sure I was completely satisfied. FANTASTIC, OVERALL GREAT EXPERIENCE! My family, well mainly my mother, had a multi dimensional move that consisted of several parts which we were breaking down into several different moves. The first part of her move, I was not involved in the decision making process with who we hired. This was a mistake! Thus, the first part of this move was a disaster, my mother did not know any better than to verify credentials, including licensing and insurance information before making a hire. From my experience with the Federal Highway Administration, I knew that Pennsylvania was a hot bed for rogue moving companies operating without a license or the appropriate state verified insurance requirements. My mother on the other hand, was unaware of what to look for an just hired who was the best sweet talker over the phone. She went with a group called "Maya's Movers" out of the York area. There was no home visit. Everything was done over the phone. After the move happened and my mother discussed these details with me, I knew right there these were big red flags. For one, in the state of Pennsylvania, any licensed moving company must not only provide an in person written estimate based on a home visit, including their tariff but also leaving the customer a "Know your rights and responsibilities" pamphlet, with signed acknowledgement. The next red flag was the day of arrival. They showed up in a truck with no company name, no company phone number, no company credentials, no licensing numbers or information. HUGE red flag. The guy was very personable and his team seemed to do a great job. After the bill was paid and they were gone was when everything started to go wrong. It started with my mother explaining how the head guy pushed for her to pay in cash, that it was going to save her money somehow. So she did. Bill paid in full with cash. Apparently this saved her on some additional "fees" she would have had to pay with a credit card and they wouldn't accept a check. Going around the house I began to notice some damages to her items that were not there before the move. Some damages turned into a lot. My mother explained how she was forced to sign a document at the end releasing her of any damage claims. I knew this was not right but she didn't want to raise a stink. I have since made contact with the Public Utilities Commission about this ordeal. After doing some research, I found Jack Treier and right there on their website as it should be was their licensing numbers which I was able to easily verify on the federal site and the state site, along with their insurance valuation coverage as approved by law. I did not need drive to insurance companies location to verify they are insured. After reaching out to Jack Treier, a scheduler was very helpful and pinning down a date and a good time frame for someone from the company to come to the house and take a good look over the details of the move and plan out a written proposal for us to consider, like a real moving company would do. The day of the visit, our estimator was very friendly and did a great job explaining to us the regulations and procedures of the company in managing the move for us. He was even able to break it down into a few different quotes for us to consider as this was still a multi part move in progress. I specifically liked how there were no hidden fees and he gave us flat rated pricing for each arrangement, instead of a guess what you pay hourly rate. The quotes were binding and he left us with several sheets of documents detailing the move, what was included and the legal documentation along with the "Rights and Responsibilities" pamphlet. I got another quote from another outfit that was licensed and insured in the area as well just for comparison reasons, but ultimately we went with Jack Treier. From start to finish they did a knockout job and there were no gimmicks. They sent a large team of men out and it was just a fantastic time with no stress. The movers knew what needed to be done to get items into truck. They had decided not to take computer desk apart due to fact that it wouldnt be stable. No walk thru at end with them at house moving from. They had house empty within 2 hours. They were willing to help if a certain piece of furniture would or wouldnt fit in a certain area. It started to rain heavier as they got to house moving too. They moved fast to get furniture into house without rain damage to sofa and recliner. Suede type on these 2 . they moved boxs in so fast i couldnt keep up with them. Lol. No the main man had a sence of humor that worked with me and family. Towards the end they seemed soo ready to finish job. I dont know if because some of my family stopped in on way home from work. They work in area. Or it was because it was raining. No walk thru at end of delivery. Reason why got 4 stars. Otherwise everything else went smoothly read more

We recently needed a local move from one apartment to another across town. I found Jack Treier's company by doing a web search. That was the first lucky strike! The company and I contracted via the internet and details were easily communicated with the Treier folks. On the day of the move - and this is the second lucky strike! - the movers showed up exactly on time and with everything set up in the truck to make the move as smoothly as possible. The two movers did a quick survey of the apartment and we discussed all the items that needed to be moved. We had prepacked all of the smaller items, such as kitchen utensils, small appliances etc. The movers went straight to work and it took about an hour to get everything in the truck. Once across town, they basically did the same thing as when they started. Both movers surveyed the new apartment, we discussed where we wanted everything, and they started unloading without a pause or a coffee break or something like that. I have done several larger moves, twice across the country, and I can honestly say that the choice to have Treier do this move, was absolutely the best one I could have made. The movers were professional, courteous and hard-working. They unloaded the truck in what seemed no time at all, placed everything where we wanted it, and put together everything that had been taken apart (bed etc.) for the move. They literally did not stop until everything was unloaded and everything was set up exactly the way we wanted. In short, my next move, wherever it takes me, will definitely be done by Treier and company. We are incredibly impressed by the company that did everything right in terms of contract, pricing, communicating with us before and after the move. The movers were absolutely great in terms of appearance, their work ethic and their personable way of dealing with us. There is a hidden danger in hiring this company to move you. It's been more than four years since they moved us I'm still saddened by the loss of missing items. CHECK YOUR BOXES! It was a big move. I would give them 5 stars in most areas because they were punctual and professional and they were friendly. They had different people helping to load and unload the truck on each end of the move, but the driver was the same friendly guy. It took them a day to load the truck, couple of days to drive, and a day to unload. When the truck was empty I went out, walked up the ramp and asked about a tool that belonged to my father. It was still on the truck. I noticed a group of boxes at the back of the truck and asked about them. The driver said they belonged to someone else. As we stood there talking for a minute I noticed a small piece of wood near my foot. I now wish I had bent down and picked it up. We thought they'd done a good job. I walked back into the house and saw the antique table that had been passed down through my husbands family was missing a piece of inlay wood. It was the piece that I saw on the floor of the truck when the driver and I were talking. Wow did I feel lucky! It was literally minutes since they left, so we called the driver and told him we'd be right there, knowing that he hadn't gotten out of our neighborhood yet. To our surprise he said he'd already swept out the truck. It was a long, hard day, and I was baffled as to when he did that. Looking back I realize now it was a blatant lie. We live in a gated community, there was no place for him to randomly stop to sweep out the truck. If he were going to sweep out the truck he would have done it right here before he got behind the wheel. He just didn't want to be bothered. He had just pocketed a handsome tip and he was not coming back. You don't want to know what it cost to repair an antique table that's missing a piece of wood. I am sorry we tipped him. He didn't deserve it. It would have been so easy to have glued that piece of wood back into the table. To this day the table has not been repaired, we just put the damaged side against the wall. The garage at our new location was filled with boxes. I was not in a hurry to unpack them. It was a difficult time for us. We moved from the North to the South due to my husband's back surgery. Part of his spine was replaced by metal rods. After his surgery he took one fall on the ice and we knew we needed to live somewhere safer for him. The year before my husbands surgery my father died. A month before our move my mother died. That was part of the reason the move was so overwhelming. All the "stuff" I couldn't deal with, mainly because I didn't have time, being a caregiver for both my parents and my husband, had followed me and was now sitting in the garage. I was emotionally drained. When I finally got around to dealing with the boxes that filled our garage I found several antique dishes that were broken, my mother (a collector of fine cut glass) had several pieces broken. I took pictures and documented the damage, but I decided not to make a claim. Making a claim wasn't going to bring the stuff back, and I really didn't have enough of an interest to pursue it. I continued to unpack and slowly began to realize that it wasn't what was broken that was upsetting to me...what was upsetting was what was missing! My wedding dress, Yukon blanket, ironing board, daughter's art supplies including her wooden easel, countless tubes of oil paints, and expensive boar bristle brushes, a wooden dish shaped like a leaf, dishes, china, tablecloths, other kitchen items, clothing, tools, my grandmothers antique croquet set (containing the stand, wicks, balls) and on and on. Where is this stuff? We aren't talking about missing one box. My alarm at the situation was rising. I called the company to get the bottom of this. The same person answered the phone each and every time, listened to my story and said she'd look into it and call me back. I got nothing. I called again, and she said that they have a warehouse for lost/unclaimed boxes. She'd call back in a week. Nothing. I was frustrated. This same lady who, at the beginning of this moved seemed so helpful, was now avoiding my calls. I was getting nowhere. So I decided to call as if I wanted to make a move and was a new customer. Using a different telephone number I called, same lady answered the phone, took my info. Almost immediately got a call from owner. I explained the situation and apologized for ruse of moving again, but felt it was important for him to know that the driver is apparently ripping people off and the lady ( I do know their names) seems to be aware of it. The owner told me there was no warehouse for holding unclaimed boxes. Unfortunately, he also didn't think he had a problem with his staff since he doesn't get the complaints. read more

A nightmare experience with this Company! Found out day before move there was no long distance driver and told in a day or two they would have one. We got on the road, only to find out no long distance driver and our items were going to be loaded onto a dock in Mount Joy to "sit". In the coming weeks, we had a very hard time getting thru to this office and numerous unreturned calls and emails. Made attempts via phone and email to sales person that gave us estimate, he eventually called to explain he was avoiding my call, because he had no answers about when or if our things would be delivered. Was told by office staff to "make other arrangements" to have load delivered. Finally, touching base with a Sr. member to try and get results. Three weeks+ later receiving our things, but such an enormous amount of stress trying to find someone in this business to help us. In meantime, having to buy things just to live. We were reimbursed monies for our inconvenience. Upon receiving our items, we had several items broke, damaged w/three items having to be repaired. There were boxes missing and items that cannot be replaced, several items of glass broke w/smashed boxes. We were only reimbursed for one box of items missing. NOTE TO ANYONE USING THIS COMPANY: Even if driver tells you he checked off every item when he loaded, check every item yourself!!!! Everything is tagged with a number. ALSO: Save all broken and/or damaged items and file a report. Take pictures!! This Company caused a huge amount of stress and inconvenience for our family that we don't wish upon anyone else!
