Ordered well over $1000 worth of discus via Discus.com...all came from Wattley discus. All arrived with hex which I dealt with...one was DOA which was replaced but I had to pay the shipping again. Recently purchased some metronidazole after a bout of hex (from live blackworms...my fault) and asked a simple follow-up question after watching Gabe's video regarding dosage instructions. It took three attempts before he responded which was, "there are videos on YouTube" so basically, I don't have time for you. You call that customer service? I have to tell you that Jack Whattley did a great job and had an impeccable reputation, but Gabe Posada his right hand man that took over. I don't know what happened to him because it seems like he had a good reputation for the longest time and contributed a great deal to the tropical fish world, but I still can't get over what he did to me with a delivery and how nasty and arrogant he got. I believe he's a phony or someone that just went downhill because if you look at any negative reviews, he attacks every one of them in such a bad way and in some cases, he's actually using curse words telling them to go to you know where I mean what is wrong with a man like that you don't do that with social media it makes you look so bad but as I think now when he said why didn't I call him? It sounds to me like he's a one man team over there and what happened to the big company that they used to be with all the exceptional employees I'm guessing he wasn't really who he seemed to be and probably lost all his employees and his business is going down he told me himself that he's losing money so I can understand why Gabe you don't treat customers this way, especially if they had a legitimate problem and we're treating you respect and you turn around and shit all over them and yell and disrespect them you don't do that, my friend. read more

Ok where to start. I drove an hour to get here and I won't ever be back. First impressions are everything for me. Upon opening the door I was unsure if I was at the front entrance or the back so I asked if this was the entrance to an employee opening boxes with his back to me. He said nothing to me and just looked at me and my 2 daughters with a blank stare. No nods or any kind of resemblance of an answer so I asked again. "Obviously" he stated after asking the second time to which the first time he said nothing. Ok I thought whatever let's get to shopping. I was in the market for 6-8 4" discus for my new 150g tank. No tanks were price marked except a cardinal tetra tank and a pleco tank. No discus prices were presented. Ok now that's the positive part. For the bad brace urself. Multiple fish illnesses presented in the tanks. The altum tanks were all essentially riddled with some type of fungal or parasitic issue. Tanks covered in algae. Without counting I'd estimate 20 dead fish upon inspection. Live plants were a disaster. Ragged and hardly "live". All the water did not look hospitable for the infamous "clean water" that discus demand. Green water in every aquarium. Not one employee asked me if I needed help or if I had questions. No one even acknowledged me there. Not a single hi hello let me know if you need anything. Nothing. I counted at least 5 employees including what I believe is the owner who was on the aquarium coop video. With all the employees I counted I feel as though much more could be done to improve the quality of life for the fish they are trying to sell. IE removing dead fish clarifying the water tidying up the place etc. it just looked so sad and pathetic. Now I am not under an illusion of grandeur. I know this is mostly a shipping storefront but this just did not meet expectations at all. Before coming here I read the reviews from the last year on Yelp and figured maybe it was just a bad experience from the 2 I read and decided to make the trek and try it for myself. I did not bother taking pictures considering it was so sad. I sincerely hope they improve for the sake of their customers and their fish. I can honestly say I would never ever go back and I would rather pay a premium from my lfs then save money with wattley discus if it even was a savings at all. read more

I decided to try out Jack Wattley Discus after my sons Discus fish became ill. I read all of the great reviews below and reached out. My son has special needs and while being quarantined his love and routine grew even more so when they were sick we had to act fast and go to a great company.. I mistakenly wrote the wrong apartment number which caused the order to delay. The owner Gabe was upset and angry with me over the mistake. He went as far as to tell me I caused him to pay the double shipping and what a pain in the ass me and my son were to deal with. He told me to "f off you ungrateful f" No one deserves to be spoken to like that let alone from a business owner. After calling him and asking him why he said all of this he stated he was upset with the way i was "treating him"? We ordered a 5-6" Red Ninja Cuipea Alenquer Cross Discus for $275 and it came sick! We also ordered a Black & Blue Discus along with several other fish. The Red Ninja and Black & Blue discus were both extremely sick when they arrived. We contacted Jack Wattley and were told that it was the stress from the shipment and they told us to buy some medication and treat them. We did and they still were not better after 3 weeks. They finally refunded our money and then Gabriel Posada said "I hope to God both the Ninja and this one drop dead as soon as I issue a refund". I ordered 30 Altums from them, they packed 7-10 fish in same a bag. All arrived alive but two of them has fungus, like did they even check your fish before you shipped? Then 16 of them died a few days after because of bacteria infection. I contacted them, show them the video/photo of the rest dying, they did nothing but told me to buy medicine from them, they can ship next day with $23 charge. If you love fish, especially discus, you'll love this place. It's open to the public, but it isn't meant for the public. They are extremely, overly nice, to a point where you're almost sure something is wrong, but really, they're just really friendly and passionate about what they do! We came to visit this place because we were in town and it was definitely worth the trip. Being able to see the fry was such an awesome experience to me. Yes, super cheesy and no, it isn't life changing, but it's really cool to see the fish breed, lay eggs and see the end result. They know what they're doing here and they'll get you the fish you need. I'm in the process of cycling a 6.5 gallon Aquino rimless planted tank for a Betta and probably some bright Neocaridinias at a later time, and planning ambitious paludarium builds for 40G and 75G tanks I've already picked up. We're talking high-tech planted tanks with EI fert dosing, Finnex Planted+ 24/7 HLC fixtures, pressurized CO2 both into the water column and the air of the terrestrial parts of the tanks, rare plants, a GFP leucistic axolotl (the 75G will also have a blacklight, poison dart frogs, etc. Needless to say, I'm going to need supplies. After doing some research online, I came across Jack and decided to come in for some dragon stone. It was $1-2 a pound cheaper than the online vendors, I didn't have to pay shipping, and I got to actually see the stones and select them myself. Everyone here was super friendly and helpful. I couldn't resist the excellent selection of vibrant, healthy aquatic plants, so I ended up getting a few of those too. When I asked the guy helping me if the duckweed in one of their impressive display tanks was for sale he said, "no, I'll just give you some of it." He didn't have to do that. It's those little extra efforts that turn a customer into a repeat customer. I will definitely be back. I didn't see even one fish that was dead, sick, or injured. It was obvious that these folks take really good care of their fish. The prices were much lower than what I'd expect to pay, particularly considering the phenomenal quality and selection of their stock. Keep up the stellar work, guys. read more

I ordered 40 cardinal tetras and only one survived. I was sent another 40, and only half of those survived. So out of 80 fish, only 21 lived. Gabe was very angry that I didn't appreciate the 21 live fish out of the 40 I paid for, and he called me a twisted human. Really nice touch for a businessman. I am extremely impressed with the Iripixi Wild discus I received today from Wattley Discus. They are beautiful! Arrived in amazing packaging. Even with our winter conditions they were nice and warm with the heat packs. Active right from the start. Was surprised at how colorful and big they are. Just started a tank (75 gallon) which will eventually be a Discus community tank. Was hoping to order all of my fish from here based on the reviews and reputation. I had nothing living in my tank yet, just cycled and ready for the initial fish. Ordered 15 cardinal tetras, 4 rams and a pleco. The pleco had ich upon arrival so I upped my tank temp from 84 to 88 and started medication. Sadly the pleco and now 5 of the tetras have died. The whole tank has ich. Reached out to let them know and they replied the can assure me they didn't ship a fish with ich. Well where did it come from then? No inverts, nothing else in the tank.... I know it's unavoidable in the hobby but the response was not great. Pretty disappointing experience.Please note how this business replies to honest negative reviews. I own a business and wouldn't treat my worst customer close to this. I have had negative reviews of my business and still learn from them with a humble attitude. In complete disbelief how unprofessional Gabe is. The only thing wrong I did here was order from this business. This is not my first tank and I am not ignorant to the problems within the hobby. Do not order Discus fish online fish from Jack Wattley Discus - this is store has become a scam store, and I am not surprised at all at Jack Wattley's recent reviews. Jack Wattleys' Gabe Posada will use profane language (abuse you verbally) when you insist on getting your money back or on getting Discus fish replacement as a result of him sending you unsaleable terminally ill Discus (showing symptoms of multiple diseases at once) or Discus that you did not order in place of the ones you ordered. None of the Discus fish were eating, and some died within 2 days. He does not honor his Live arrival and Healthy fish guarantee. I consider myself a Discus Fish expert having kept and bread them for years. I will never buy Discus fish Jack Wattley online as a result of this last experience. read more

Yes, it's not in the best location and the warehouse isn't in tip-top shape (mainly bc he makes a living out of shipping fish and not selling it in-store) but Gabe is absolutely the nicest, most knowledgeable fish keeper and salesman ever. He is super caring if you're a repeat customer, always provides helpful advice and his prices are extremely reasonable. Don't get thrown off by the name either because when he has other fish besides discus they are equally impressive, some of the biggest rams I've ever seen! And he has a huge variety of discus in all different sizes and constantly restocks his inventory.
