When I…read morewas initially searching for a lawyer, Szeto-Wong Law was one of the fastest offices to respond to my inquiry. They were very thorough in examining my case and quick to follow up. I knew this team would be the right one for me. I predominantly worked with Dean, who is very calm and communicative. Dean was always transparent about where we were in the process and what to expect next. Both Dean and Gina were very understanding and supportive during this stressful time. They were happy to jump on a call if I had any questions or concerns. Anytime I emailed the team, I would always get a prompt response within normal business hours. Dean and Gina are very knowledgeable about employment law, which gave me peace of mind. They helped explain the more complicated parts of the litigation in layman's terms, which allowed me to make the best decisions for myself. Dean and Gina always advocated for the best case outcome for me. I highly recommend Szeto-Wong Law for anyone looking for litigation support!

This is the only firm where I truly felt that the client's well-being came first. Gina made me feel heard, respected, and supported every step of the way. I wholeheartedly recommend Gina to anyone in need of legal representation. I trust her professionalism, knowledge, and sincere commitment to her clients.

My ex husband had a very difficult attorney in the sense that she was dragging my divorce along with my ex-husband but John was very good at trying to stop what she was doing and he always got something for me when they were trying to cheat all the time. John know exactly if the case will be a success or will be a waste of time. I had never had to be after him to tell him what to go for, he got it all for me as I was married 14 years and he got my share financially and custody with my kids. He always came with question to me if it was ok to proceed in certain way and I always agreed with him. He is a kind of person that can make you feel secure in court and not intimidated by anyone. He is very kind, honest, stern, professional and will not tell what you like to hear.He care very much about children and he made sure my kids had their share too. This form notifies the court that your new attorney is now representing you, often replacing self-representation (in pro per) or a prior attorney. There is no court filing fee required for submitting the Substitution of Attorney form. This is a standard statewide rule for superior courts handling family law matters like divorce. https://selfhelp.courts.ca.gov/substitution-attorney 2) We met for 5m just to sign 1 paper that he is now representing me. 500 usd for 5 min. 3) Next time we met was only to hand him a check and let him know that he is no longer needed. Handling of check was charged another 500 usd as considered as a meeting with the client (obviously). While he may partially technically be right in terms of meetings only, think again if you like to have this kind of ethics follow you during your case and weather something like this should cost 1,500 USD.

Once the agreement was drafted, there was a California specific addendum needed on the documents for us to get them notarized. The team quickly added it and corrected the document within the hour. I was able to get a comprehensive prenuptial agreement not only drafted and reviewed, but finalized and notarized within a reasonable amount of time. Let me be clear, the negative reviews seem much more realistic as I experienced identical stuff with them. Long story short, they did nothing for me after I took them as representation and made payment. When I mean nothing, I mean literally anything outside of filing normal paperwork, they simply didn't do. Want a suggestion? Get ready to pay them thousands for a quick meeting. Writing an email to them? Better hope they don't need to go to the bathroom in between because you will pay for that time. Another reviewer states it perfectly : "there team was working on my case, which means everyone needed to be aware of the status, and I was paying each of them". This times a million is so accurate!! Every month I would get a new bill with charges I couldn't make sense of, and half of those charges were one team member discussing with another about my case... like seriously?? In the end, I think I payed close to $15k for the 8 months I had them!! 15k!! And mind you, we never went to court or anything. It was literally just email replies and filing paperwork. I told them from the beginning I was trying to be conservative with funds and wanted to end this asap, and they asked for a $4k retainer acting like that would be all I need. They weren't upfront about future costs or options I could make. How in world did I have to replenish another $11k in addition is beyond me. Straight up scammed by thieves. **edit : one thing I wanted to clarify, their rates look somewhat reasonable, well at least for Palo Alto region standards.. hence why I was suckered. But it's not the rate that's the issue per se, rather, it's how they charge you each month based off these rates (see above note on how they charge discussions between team members). My previous lawyer (worst move ever leaving them for this one) charged me 1/4th of what they did, and we actually went to court. This firm will make you suffer with endless costs and charge you thousands each month when there is NO movement in your case.

Since the 2 stars (which equates to the "[service] could've been better") were due to the unprofessionalism and inattentiveness shown (not due to her being an LDA), I have no reason to change my rating or delete my review. TL;DR: Marizen is NOT a lawyer. She is a Legal Document Assistant that cannot provide you with legal advice. She is a significantly affordable option for a Living Trust but she is unprofessional and has poor attention to detail-- key characteristics that are paramount to detailing an important document. Details: I left a Living Trust inquiry via her site and Marizen emailed me back within 1 day to "text" her back for a scheduled over-the-phone consult. Upon speaking with Marizen it was clear she did not take the time to review the few questions I had sent her in my initial inquiry as she was confused as to what the consult would primarily be regarding. Her rates were significantly less than what other competing services were offering which raised an orange flag for me. Upon further research, I realized Marizen was NOT a lawyer, but rather a "Legal Document Assistant (LDA)." According to the CA Attorney General, LDAs cannot give legal advice. This was my first encounter with an LDA, which allowed me the opportunity to do the necessary research to make a more educated investment. Had Marizen gotten back to me with the necessary next steps and questionnaire as she had promised (it's been over 1.5 weeks), I may have considered her as a possible option to complete my Living Trust needs. But if you are looking for a more affordable option, perhaps Marizen is a good fit for you.

After spending $5k he appeared in court twice and said all of 30 words combined. I represented myself with him at my side. Again he said all of 30 words in two court appearances. After the second court date I knew he was no good and terminated him. Here we are 3 weeks later I'm still waiting for a print out of where my money went and if there's any left. I sent him emails asking for the remaining funds with no answer. I spent more money paying on his traveling than anything . I was charged for every minute spent on the phone with him. He never called me or explained how he was going to go about fighting my case. His communication was horrible. I had called him over and over trying to give him information so that he could build a case and he acted like it was all irrelevant. I asked Mr Rudy to ask the judge for certain things like a tier to mediation, which he told me was too late to ask for so I asked the judge myself and it was granted. I had to ask the judge myself to pull police reports, school records and other things that Mr Rudy would not ask for. Again I represented myself basically with him sitting at my side doing absolutely nothing. He didn't take my case seriously at all. Good luck if you obtain the lawyer. I love my child and took this very serious and he didn't. We love our kids that's why we are willing to pay high dollar to fight the good fight.
