The admin, Cindy, had told me to email back and the judge was to decide my options. Thankfully, he released me from ever having to serve this year and I am so appreciative of that ( I was actually waiting to call back and see how the response would come- in a form of a summons O_o, a bench warrant :O?). Nope, just an email (see these are the things they do not tell you- you kind of fear it.) Honestly, I have to say that this was such a great experience and I have to thank all those prosecutors, who I interacted with and willingly to allow me into their cases. I feel that I am just a mere citizen of this city, I do not have any degrees in law and yet I had such a big responsibility for the last three days, or so I felt (April 2nd, 3rd and 9th) ! I would also like to thank the judge (forget his last name), the admin, and all who were involved in this experience. Who would have thought a release? I would have been fine with a "do not do it again." I have to say he was a pretty cool judge, he never really cared when we never stood up on the "all rise" as he entered (then again, there was no bailiff neither, so no one actually said it). I still did, it's so old school, like the Twilight Zone, that it would be a crime not to O_o (actually, I read somewhere that one COULD BE in Contempt of Court, if not doing so- not sure how that applies today) Thanks again Fayette County Circuit!

What can you say about a court building? It's a well kept place and appears to be pretty safe as…read morewell. They have some neat fountains outside that sometimes the kids play in during warmer weather. There are also some undesirables hanging out around outside that can make a person feel uneasy but parking can usually be found in the garage across from or on the side street with a short walk. Just don't stop to chat with these folks. Check the hours for the entity you are going to see before you go or call ahead to make sure they will be open.

We have planned and attended a number of events at the courthouse including the Latino Festival, the pride festival, and the women's march. Parking is not free on the weekends any more. (Bummer) And the water fountains are not treated so "swim" at your own risk. I hope that if you ever have to visit here that it is only for good things. Festivals and celebrations. (Maybe jury duty...it is your civic duty!) Stay away from anything that will require you to be arraigned in this courthouse.

There is street parking (be sure to bring coins) and there is at least one nearby pay to park lot. But that's the only limited parking that I know about. It's actually two buildings, one is district and the other is circuit court. Over ten years ago, they both replaced the old courthouse building that now serves as a museum. The courtyard, I guess you'd call it, is the home to many festivals and even the starting point to Susan G Komen walk each year. The fountain that's in the courtyard isn't always turned on, but when it is, especially at sundown, it's gorgeous. Sometimes you'll see kids playing in it, which I think is disgusting, but to each his own.

On a Sunday morning, there was plenty of parking. The marker reads, "County named, 1858. For Andrew Jackson, the 7th US President, 1829-37, first to be elected from west of Appalachians. First Representative in Congress from Tenn., 1796-97. In US Senate twice, 1797 and 1823. Victorious commander at New Orleans, 1815. County formed from small parts of Madison, Estill, Owsley, Clay, Laurel and Rockcastle, every adjoining county, except Lee." Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place at all costs. They don't care about any of the cases brought before them and will do nothing. Traci denies restraining orders to women who need them. It was all over the news a few years ago. A woman died because of it. Shame on Traci Brislin, what a disgrace to the bench. How does she even feel after that? I bet it makes no difference to her. Good luck dealing with Denotra. She will talk over you and not listen to anything you say. She barely knows or understands the law as it is; just another Ketanji Brown Jackson. I once saw an attorney roll his eyes at her, when his back was turned away, after she finished giving some outlandish reason why she could not accept a sworn affidavit. God help us all.

The facility itself looks well-maintained and professional from the exterior, with clear signage and a clean, orderly appearance. The surrounding area felt calm and easy to navigate, with convenient parking and good visibility around the building. It gave the impression of an active, functioning public safety office that's taken care of.

It's been seven years since I wrote a review for the Shelby County Sheriff's Department so I think…read moreit's time to write an update. This update reflects the changes that have been made due to the Covid-19 pandemic. First of all, no I do not frequent the Sheriff's Department because I'm in trouble. I make an annual visit each year in October to pay our property taxes. It's always an easy procedure to climb the grand Court House stairs, walk to the end of the main floor hallway, enter the office and carry out my business. This year I wasn't sure if any changes would be made due to the up surge in Covid19. I still got a parking spot in front of the Court House, climbed the front stairs, and walked to the end of the first floor hallway. Upon entry into the office I experienced the only change. A nice plexi glass partition had been installed on the counter top with cutouts to hand paperwork through. In front of the counter was a long table lengthwise that assured customers would not be too close to the window. I handed my tax bill and check to the Sheriff and he promptly rang it up, stapled the receipt to the bill and handed the paperwork back to me I'm paid up for another year. Thanks for making this process so easy.

The second floor is the entry level. So, if you're there to renew your driving license, go on down to the first. As is the case with Frankfort, it is never crowded a little after lunch hours, which is when we chose to go. Bada-bing, bada-boom, say cheese (or don't) and off you go with a hot and ready brand new license. The fee has now gone up to $20 (from the $12 a few years back). And, there's a $2 extra fee if you use a debit or credit card.

The structure was completed in 1964 though the county itself was formed in 1799 when it was split with Lincoln County. The building faces north and is a two story buff colored brick and concrete structure. The north front has a large portico supported by four large Corinthian columns rising to the pediment at the roof. In the center of the pediment is a clock.
