An above average park for the city of McAllen…read more The park is pretty large, with a huge grass field, and some trees dispersed throughout. Trees aren't super close together, so it doesn't quite have a cooling effect or allow much space to hang out underneath. There's a basketball hoop with pretty janky concrete but at least it's there. The volleyball area has sand, and is pretty nice. There's a children's play area and water play area. Definitely meant more for families with children but you can always find space to set up for a picnic here. I had a nice time here but it'a nothing special as far as parks go. Just one of the better options in McAllen.

I come to this park about 3-4 times a week. It's a pretty good size park with a basketball court, volleyball court the kids playground, a pergola, and some huge rocks people can use to workout. On average there's about 20 people at the park when I go but about 12 people are always at the basketball court. So if you want to play basketball, get here early because there's only one basket. The location of the park is really good because there's a nice neighborhood behind the park and Idea School to the left of it so it's pretty safe. And most importantly, there are no clowns in the premises lol! This park is nice for picnics just make sure the kids go to the restroom at home because they don't have any restroom facilities at the park. While I was running one evening, I saw a family pull in, get some bags down from the truck, the dog, and sat under the pergola to enjoy their dinner outside in the fresh air. They certainly take their time to make you feel welcomed and invited. I highly recommend if you have children under the age of 10 to bring them here so they can have tons of fun.
