BEWARE OF JACKSON NATIONAL. My father made the terrible mistake of trusting Jackson National with his insurance and pension. He's entered dementia and I (his son) have been granted Power of Attorney. My father cannot remember his policy number. I spent numerous calls with Jackson National and they said they cannot and will not help me without my Father's policy number. After receiving not one, but two letters from Jackson regarding death benefits of a family member, I receive a third letter saying I am NOT a beneficiary (this is after spending 2-hours filling out and mailing forms back to Jackson - per their request.) One 40-minute phone call got me no answers. Another phone call, the rep tells me I need to contact the account Trustee...okay, who is that?...they won't give me that information and around and around we went. Then, I am told...OOPS...sorry, it is all a mistake. Really? During one phone call, I was placed on hold. Every so often (10-15 minutes), the rep would come back and ask: "are you still there?", obviously hoping that I had hung up! They made the entire process as painful as possible. Annuity sales should not be allowed in the US! This is THE biggest scam of financial advisors pocketing your money. I have a pension so I have guaranteed income and my financial advisor talked me into this. I thought more guaranteed income would be good. I left the scammer that sold me the policy and was never explained that I would give them $200,000 and I would not get my init investment of $200 K back until I am 75 and if I die my kids get nothing. The financial advisor who sold me the policy immediately pocketed $6,000 in which I found that out after the fact. So if you want to give your money to a company that will use it to invest in the stock market for 20 years on your dim, go for it. BIG SCAM! don't fall for it. We had a term life policy for many years and kept being moved to different companies. Ended up with Jackson Life. It's at the 20 year term limit as it has before. Premiums $117 and now they've sent us the renewal. My husband is a disabled vet and their renewal is $2000 a month. They are thieves!!! My policy is 19 years old. I have a GMIB (guaranteed minimum income base) much higher than the market value in my account. I have requested my estimated income payments, and they aren't using my GMIB to calculate the payments, but instead, they are using the market value. I inquired 3 times, but there was no explanation. Also, over the years, they added several new fees added that I knew nothing about till now. So over the years they took all my profit. I don't know what to do to fight this. read more

Horrible customer service and website. You have to no control over your money. It used to be that you could change your asset allocation online. Now, no; you have to call one of their brokers and the new allocation takes a week or two to go through. Don't bother with their message system. I have sent multiple emails to them regarding RMDs and the SECURE Act. Nada- no replies ever. So i am done with them, time to liquidate the account...."not so fast"..... I do a partial surrender through the website (max 40%). Everything looks fines. The next day, another 40%. On the following day, I am locked out. Called and was told it was for security reasons. i have to make a new account. I do and find out that they arbitrarily cancelled my 2nd withdrawal (no email or text regarding this). I re-do the 2nd withdrawal. A couple of hours later, account frozen/deactivated again. Another call to Jackson. Rep has no idea why, but she will forward the issue to the correct people and we will hear from them in a couple of days. Oh, and the 2nd withdrawal...cancelled again. She tells us it has to be done on paper with their withdrawal form (which I can't access because I am locked out). I have or have had investment accounts with Voya, Schwab, TDA, Scottrade, and Ed Jones, I have never experienced anything this nonsense. read more

Didnt realize this place had such a low rating glad Im trying to cash out on my policy. Anyways came here to say theyre pretty outdated with how they run their company. Where in the digital age and everything is run by snail mail or fax still generally. Talked to a woman yesterday too that was very dry and curt around 10AM CST. Wish I had gotten her name. She didnt seem like she knew what she was talking about either but had an attitude like she did. So promptly hung up. Im moving forward to a more modern paced company where things can be done more digitally and people are more informed. Also it takes FOREVER to get any documents from them. When asked if I could send a pre-postage letter to send my check back for faster shipping for some reason they couldnt comprehend that and kept saying I would have to make a FED EX account and do it that way.... they are so antiquated and coudnt really explain why it had to be done that way.. read more

Don't engage with this company, unless you are retired or on social security and you can devote lots of time 9-5, M-F to get your needs met. Also, do not use if your spouse is to busy to handle his own account. Even though my spouse gave Jackson his permission for me to act on his behalf, Jackson will selectively decide when to implement this rule. i.e. It's ok for me to give them money on my spouse's behalf; But when they allocate it incorrectly, I cannot ask them to corrected their mistake. They claim the "permission" my husband gave me, in their eyes, was to only get information from the account. NOT to make any changes to his account. I added money. Isn't that making a change to his account? That is not getting "information." I gave the money, they put it to the wrong year, but they won't let me ask them to put it where I asked them to put it in the first place. When I first called to fix their error, they said everything was ok. They said the right amount was put in the correct year. Then I get a statement that memorialized their mistake and it was the wrong amount (over the authorized amount of contribution) and in a totally different year (in the future). This is what caused me to call them for the third time. They always want a call back number in case we get disconnected. Why? I don't know, because they claim they can't "call out" to get telephonic permission to talk to me. Apparently they are just like telemarketers and they don't have a key pad. Well, my call was mysteriously dropped and no one called back. My husband called to make the changes himself, in the middle of a commercial job in a Pepsi factory. He asked them to call me to let me know that he had followed through. They agreed! But little does DH know, they don't have "key pads". From reading the other reviews, and my experience, I dread the day we have to start collecting on these IRA's. read more

It is hard to imagine how they can be so consistently incompetent. One rep says one thing, the next another. Getting a call back from a supervisor or manager takes days and the managers I've spoken to are equally incompetent and unhelpful. They LIE. They just flat out LIE. I'm lucky in that I have a financial person who can try to intervene, but honestly, they're not helpful or responsive to her office, either. "You're not a trustee" Well, I am and I've been the only trustee working with this account in the last three years. "We don't have your signature on file" You do, and this was confirmed by Frances, and reconfirmed, and flagged, so you do have a signature on file. "We don't have any trust documents" You've had them for years. "Your instructions were not clear" They're not? They're your forms, and the appropriate boxes are checked. What isn't clear? "That account cannot receive funds from the trust" Really, because this wasn't a problem the last 30+ times. "Oh, you wanted an ACH transfer?" YES, that is exactly why there's a check in the ACH/Direct Deposit box. "We issued a live check. If you still want an ACH transfer, we can do that! We can do a stop payment on the check, wait five business days, then send an ACH transfer!" "The funds left here on Tuesday. We don't have any control after it leaves Jackson" A LIE. "The funds left here on Thursday." A LIE. I will call you tomorrow. A LIE. The latest? "There were quite a few errors" YES. I. KNOW. The annuity fees are insane. The charges for 2023 were over $50,000. You'd think for that amount of money they could bother to be responsive and truthful and competent. They are not. Once they have your money, you do not matter. The surrender fees are high and I don't think there's a way to recover from the loss. However, the stress of not being able to have access to the funds, of needing the money to pay the IRS, and dread of having to call Jackson again, with the unrealistic hope that they will be responsive and helpful, is draining. After three and a half years of agony dealing with Jackson on an index annuity. I have cashed it out losing 40000.00 plus income off the money that I bought it with. That would be around 100000.00 loss. I was sold this product and it was not explained to me how it worked. I started complaining about it two and a half years ago. They took it to LPL Financial service who sold it to me and they said they did everything perfect. I stayed after them continually at no avail. They never would contact me until I told them that I was coming up to their place of business to discuss my issues about them. At that time they had someone email me threatening me. They said If I ever step a foot on any Jackson property they would call law enforcement. This Company does not care how they profit. This is a warning to the simple investor DO NOT get involved with this company. At the end I asked if they could take the surrender fee off thinking thats the least they could do but I was denied. I held 2 Jackson National Life Insurance Universal Life Policies (wife & myself) for 38 years and have received excellent customer service. I decided to claim both policies Cash Surrender Values. Both claims were processed, but extra final premiums were deducted from both policies after reimbursement. I had to contact 2 different Jackson National Life Customer Service Departments (Regular Customer Service & Customer Care). My issue was resolved perfectly along with receiving additional interest on both extra premium deductions upon my their reimbursement. It appears that Jackson National no longer provides Life Insurance Policies, but now provides only Annuities. I've had a "Phenomenal" Experience with this company! CN Farmer read more

My father (since deceased) bought a small $1,000 life insurance policy on my mother many years ago. The policy was fully paid up. My mother passed in November 2023. Jackson National refuses to pay. They have adopted the HMO approach to cash flow by denying, numerous requests for the same information or forms and no response to phone calls. They finally decided to pay at the end of March 2024, but then recalled the check. Avoid this company at all costs. read more

The customer service robot asks you multiple questions to establish your identity. Then when you need to speak with a person because the robot can't do what you need, you get connected to a live person who asks all the same questions. If you want to surrender a policy and get your money out, prepare for a long wait as the run you through multiple excuses for why your refund has not been processed. read more

Close a bank account, whenwe tried to switch payment source, they requested some forms to be filled out wich they used to come up with some weird excused to disqualified and canceled the plan. So I cancel my insurance and they send me a check drawn on a CANADIAN BANK!!!! They sent me a check that for all I know is in Canadian dollars my bank said it will take up to 20 business day to process. AND there may be an additional international fee on processing the check. I was given the brochure for this company by my financial advisor. This company only sells term insurance, and a life insurance company normally sells, life, endowment , and term policies. After reading the reviews of many who have been dissatisfied with this company, all I can say is that they have been sold a product that they did not understand by a slick salesperson. Term insurance has no cash value, so surrendering it will get you no money. Once the term expires, the premium shoots up if it is renewed, because the premium is based in actuarial ..or life expectancy tables. I would avoid doing business with this company and stick with a long established one..such as Metropolitan, NY Life, Aetna, Equitable, or any others that can give you excellent coverage. read more

After holding my money since 1994, I have finally tried to withdraw my money and have had nothing but problems trying to withdraw my money (told wrong form 3 times- finally correct form on 4th call, problems with processing "the processor did not complete the seond step") Most recently, I have a letter from Jackson National that they sent out my money on July 9th and my account has a zero balance. However, it is July 17 and they have not sent out the money. I have no email or document verifying that they still have my money. Customer service stated she is unable to provide me with written verification they still have my money, but will ask a processor if this can be done During the conversation she said " I understand that with technology this is different" when I pointed out I have nothing from Jackson that states they still have my money. This comment was discounting and simply incorrect. Using technology instead of the mail does not excuse sending me a document that a transaction was completed when it was not- and then not being "able " to send me any documentation that their record is incorrect. Awful company, bad investment, terrible customer service. I placed $117K in an annuity in 2011. In Feb 2024 it has a value of $123K. In 2021 they missed labeled a $100K loan payment as a deposit and recently told me the funds were not available because the money had been too recently deposited. It took them a month to straighten out. I called them with my financial advisor on the call to create a time sensitive transaction that they said would take place the same day I provided them their signed documents. It was paramount the funds arrived the next day we were assured they would. The funds were not sent out the same day jeopardizing a very time sensitive transaction that could result in tens of thousands of dollars of tax implication. They claim they reviewed the recording of the call and on it we were told there would be a 24 hour delay in sending the check and that we were OK with it. They refused to review the recording (of my call) with me. T On the call my financial advisor and I were adamant the check arrive next day. Now they say we knew it wouldn't. I'm closing my accounts with Jackson. Do yourself a favor and avoid these guys. read more

But my Brothers Death has Been a different story. Filled most Info at time of death. Then Covid Hit . Took 8 months to get State court Docs. I had 62,000 dollars with Jackson#1000637668 and tried for several months to retrieve the money. I am terminal illness and wish to distribute this to my heirs! I finally received the money! We also would give "0 stars". Here is 1 STAR by default. We used them for a very large sum of retirement money and found that our Perspective II Fixed and Variable Annuity was not as was told to us. Moreover, after signing the application for this fund we were never given our copy of the contract(99 page book) from Jackson National Life Insurance Company. By the way, Jackson National Life has a copy, your adviser has a copy, and you should have a copy. In our case our adviser never gave us a copy. We were given only a copy of our 25 or so pages of the application for this Perspective II Fixed and Variable Annuity. We went through Executive Financial Services as our financial adviser out of College Station, Tx. They in turn are under OFG Financial Services out of Kansas City, Kansas. These guys are under... guess who??? Jackson National Life Insurance Company. We were invested in three things until we figured out we had been taken. By the time these three companies ran us around we lost over $20,000 of our retirement because they moved monies into a fourth fund that lost and the fees they took. We found out there is a "Free Look" period of 10 days to take what you have and ask someone else about it. We never heard of a Free Look period. So, if you have this Perspective II Fixed and Variable Annuity you need to get your contract they gave you and see if you have the 99 page contract from Jackson National Life. If you don't have that 99 page book you have been scammed! Did you ever get your "Free Look" to go and ask about what you signed up for with someone totally different??? Your Free Look actually starts when you get your 99 page contract says Jackson National Life. Turned out our 99 page contract was still with Executive Financial Services after several months. Interesting. We got most of our money back after several stressful months. They are here to make money for themselves. This company is not up to date on electronic payments, can't check your account on line, and you can only follow things each quarter with the statement they send. It was our quarterly statement that came three months later (March) that raised questions because we lost money when the market was not loosing. We asked how does this happen? Our funds were not in anything that was making money. That paper statement shocked us. As you see several people have said they do things only by paper and loose that. So, no one knows what anyone is doing. They took way to long to take care of problems. I just wonder how many people are out there that have the same annuity we had and have no idea. Disaster, inefficient, rude, honestly questionable business practices. My father died in 2009 and my mother is still living, they took out a policy in the event of my death and being that I have my own coverage, no longer needed this one. Initially, seemed straightforward - send a copy of my father's death cert and include it with the surrender form. Nothing. Then it was well it's now in the estate name (there wasn't an estate)....long story short, it has been over two months of inconsistent messaging, form after form, notaries and court orders, back and forth nonsense with no resolution in sight. Based on the reviews on the BBB, we're not the only ones who's money has been held hostage for months or more. I wouldn't recommend this experience to my worst enemy, and this company is absolute trash. read more
