We scheduled appointments for both COVID and flu vaccines because this was one of the few clinics offering COVID shots for 2-year-olds. After arriving, we were told they couldn't administer COVID vaccines and could only do flu shots. What they didn't tell us is that you must be an established patient even for flu shots. Instead of a $20 vaccine covered by insurance, we were charged: $140 for a new patient "establishment" fee (never disclosed in advance) $25 for vaccine administration $20 for the actual vaccine A simple visit that should have taken 10 minutes at CVS turned into a two-hour ordeal and $185 in charges. I am writing a review of the Goleta Neighborhood Clinic and the operators who take questions or assist the patient with many issues like pharmacies, etc. I go to the Goleta Clinic on Calle Real. My doctor is Dr. Dennis Baker. I cannot say enough to complement this physician I see on Mondays. I have had other physicians at the Goleta Clinic and they have all been good, however, Dr. Baker is by far the "best" Internist I see that I feel "very" comfortable, at ease and trustworthy. He is a patient- friendly physician who always treats me with dignity and respect, and I can discuss any issue I may have at the time I see him, and I respect and trust and feedback he gives me regarding any health question or other subject. He listens and he does not have a "God-complex" that many physicians often exhibit. He is a great asset to the SBNClinics. The operators who take calls for the Clinics I have found excellent, and they have often helped me navigate the pharmacies lack of cooperation, and relay information to the provider when he/she is not present on a given day. Kudos to them! And Kudos to the Medical and Office Staff of the Goleta Clinic. They are always kind and helpful. I always feel welcomed and understood even though on a certain day I may feel grouchy. Dr. Hwang explained the details of my medical situation, answered all my questions, and presented the options more thoroughly than any other doctor I've encountered. Don't be confused by the OD degree. Hwang is a fully trained and accredited medical doctor who also has the expertise to approach problems more holistically. No one solicited this review.

I made the mistake of making an appointment with Mark and have regretted it ever since. First off, Mark is an extremely bad communicator. I am more confused about what is going on every time I walk out of an appointment with him. He is unclear explaining what the issue is and what steps we are going to take to try to figure it out and fix it. Secondly, Mark does not know what he is doing. He seems to lack general medical knowledge. I asked for a recommendation for a cream that reduces the appearance of scars and he said, "I don't know off the top of my head. I would have to Google it". He is also unfamiliar with the required steps in the healthcare system. For example, he referred me to an Oncologist. I made an appointment with the Oncologist but on the day of my appointment an Oncologist staff called me to cancel the appointment because I would have to have a biopsy done before the Oncologist would see me. Mark clearly did not know what needed to be done before I saw the specialist. Thirdly, he wastes your time and money. He makes you come in and pay the copay for a 5 minute appointment in which he tells you something he could have told you over the phone. Unfortunately, the Jackson Medical Group staff said I can't switch to another P.A. or doctor (reminder - he isn't an M.D.) because he is the one who has seen me and can refer me to a specialist. In conclusion, I would never recommend Mark Cohoon.

They offered no help whatsoever and my friend had to fill out papers. The papers were weird. A questionnaire about drug addiction mental illness ect. I have neither of those issues. They could have just asked. I went in at 345. I am in a lot of pain so waiting was unbearable however the medical assistant was lovely and I had hope. Finally what seemed forever the Dr came in. I sat over an hour watched him type. And type and type while in agony. I told him narcotics given in er made me sick didn't want to take them no alternative given. No exam given. Nothing. He barely spoke to me. He scheduled an M.R.I. which I told him I had 4 metal clips but he ignored it. Thankfully radiology canceled it today they knew I could not do it so in my opinion the entire day wasted. I walked out of that place at 5:15. 2 hours sitting in moderate pain for nothing. They said they referred me to orthopedic MD but nothing surfaced there either. I think they cater to addictions etc. I would not go back with medical problem. I feel I was kicked to curb because of my insurance. Will not return

I had my first appt with Dr. Morf this morning and am thoroughly impressed. My mom has been…read morehounding me for months to set up an appointment and establish myself as a patient, but of course I waited until I'd been sick for two weeks and already been to urgent care to try and get in. I got extra lucky and called right when they happened to have a cancellation and was able to drive right over and be seen. The front office ladies are kind and professional, the office and clinical areas are clean and modern, and Dr. Morf was fantastic. I expected a quick visit since they were squeezing me in and only addressing the cold/cough I've been suffering from for the last couple of weeks, but he spent close to 40 minutes with me; he went over my entire health history and family health history and got to know me before even checking what's up with my throat. Turns out I have bronchitis so not a lot he can do, but he got me set up with their patient portal and promptly sent me a summary of my visit and I encouraged me to call or message with any questions or concerns, or if my symptoms worsened. My prescriptions were called in promptly. I am happy to pay their $250/year administrative fee to get this level of thorough, conscientious care from my physician and his staff. You can bet I won't be going anywhere else!

The previous reviews mentioning rude staff are accurate. They don't always ask for your insurance card or they're too busy to take it. So you may get a bill six months later for the visit, full cost, from their billing service. If you call the office and complain, they'll say we don't have your insurance card on file. Do they call you or does the billing department call you, like one would assume a concierge practice would do, prior to billing the insurance? No. Since the we received the bill from their billing department six months after the visit, if the billing department refiles the claim with insurance this time, the insurance will deny the claim because it was submitted too late... Not sure what the problem is, front staff or billing, but this scenario happened twice to our family in the past year. Told the office staff we were taking our business and concierge fee elsewhere. Of course the office sent a letter saying my calling to complain about the billing issue was abusive. What's abusive is the way the staff treats patients. We're already paying over $400 for concierge fees annually, plus our high monthly health insurance premiums, our deductible, your office doesn't ask for my insurance card and then bills me six months later for the full price of the visit, over $200, and they don't think the client is going to be a tad upset?
