I had my first appt with Dr. Morf this morning and am thoroughly impressed. My mom has been hounding me for months to set up an appointment and establish myself as a patient, but of course I waited until I'd been sick for two weeks and already been to urgent care to try and get in. I got extra lucky and called right when they happened to have a cancellation and was able to drive right over and be seen. The front office ladies are kind and professional, the office and clinical areas are clean and modern, and Dr. Morf was fantastic. I expected a quick visit since they were squeezing me in and only addressing the cold/cough I've been suffering from for the last couple of weeks, but he spent close to 40 minutes with me; he went over my entire health history and family health history and got to know me before even checking what's up with my throat. Turns out I have bronchitis so not a lot he can do, but he got me set up with their patient portal and promptly sent me a summary of my visit and I encouraged me to call or message with any questions or concerns, or if my symptoms worsened. My prescriptions were called in promptly. I am happy to pay their $250/year administrative fee to get this level of thorough, conscientious care from my physician and his staff. Our entire family received our care here for years. Paid the concierge fee of over $400 but the problem is there is not even basic service! The previous reviews mentioning rude staff are accurate. They don't always ask for your insurance card or they're too busy to take it. So you may get a bill six months later for the visit, full cost, from their billing service. If you call the office and complain, they'll say we don't have your insurance card on file. Do they call you or does the billing department call you, like one would assume a concierge practice would do, prior to billing the insurance? No. Since the we received the bill from their billing department six months after the visit, if the billing department refiles the claim with insurance this time, the insurance will deny the claim because it was submitted too late... Not sure what the problem is, front staff or billing, but this scenario happened twice to our family in the past year. Told the office staff we were taking our business and concierge fee elsewhere. Of course the office sent a letter saying my calling to complain about the billing issue was abusive. What's abusive is the way the staff treats patients. We're already paying over $400 for concierge fees annually, plus our high monthly health insurance premiums, our deductible, your office doesn't ask for my insurance card and then bills me six months later for the full price of the visit, over $200, and they don't think the client is going to be a tad upset? read more

Talk about privatization of healthcare, Dr. Rai was my previous doctor at Sansum who I decided to book an appointment with. They charge a $400 concierge yearly fee, crazy. On top of what I already pay for my monthly health insurance. I don't usually like to leave bad reviews or send bad vibes but wow, this is the true definition of classism in healthcare. Dr. Morf is a good doctor, attentive and caring. We enjoyed being his patients. However, many times those visits led to referrals which resulted in more doctor visits, more trips & miles for us, more papers to fill out, more tests scheduled, more cost to our insurance. Unfortunately, Dr. Morf also belongs to Santa Barbara Internal Medicine Group, and they have recently decided to practice "Concierge" medicine. Each patient now must pay $250 up front, or each couple $400. For that you get same day appointments, more face to face time, more access by phone or computer. As seniors, we have excellent insurance, both Medicare and Blue Cross. But we cannot afford even the proffered discounted price of $300 on our budget. We each had about 3 appointments last year, most of which led to referrals. Two medications needed prior authorizations. Our new medical group has promised they will not practice "Concierge" medicine. Perhaps Santa Barbara Internal Medicine prefers a wealthier clientele, or perhaps they just would like to have less patients. We are fairly certain, however, they will not be overwhelmed by honest, well-insured seniors who live on limited budgets. Like other patients, this "Concierge" fee was not affordable. But since we did not have the money to pay the fee, Dr. Morf's office also refused to fill our prescriptions. As a result, we had to spend precious time and energy searching for another doctor in our area while suffering as a result of missing medications. Why does this feel like extortion? We cannot believe this was Dr. Morf's idea!! He is a better man than that!! read more

They charge you $250 just to go there. The staff is rude. My Dr is nice, but when you need a doctor, they are absent. I had a breast biopsy on Wednesday. I have been trying to get results and my dr is on Vacay. So is his assistant . When I started crying on the office phone, Angie hung up on me. This is brutal and cruel treatment I will go back to LA where doctors actually care about you and you get test results on a timely basis. read more

This dr accepts our insurance so I called to make an appointment as a new patient. Secretary informed me that he charges a $400 flat fee that's not covered by any insurance. It's like an administration fee. And it's yearly! Even if you only see the dr once that year, you have to pay the $400 fee on top of the normal visit costs. I am a very complicated medical case with a few very rare diseases. I had been in search of a knowledgable compassionate doctor that would take me on and manage my care. I actually moved from Washington state so that Dr. morf could take over my care. It was the best thing I could have ever done. Dr. Morf gives you the time that you need to answer your questions. My quality of like has improved so much over the years and I definitely attribute this to the excellent care that I have received from Dr. Morf. The $250 admin fee is well worth it. read more

I have been satisfied with Santa Barbara Internal Medicine Group because the location is convenient and Dr. Morf is thorough. However, I had a physical recently and found out that this place started to charge an administration fee starting 2017. What's an administration fee? Its a flat fee that you pay to be a patient here, similar to what concierge doctors do. In this case, its $400 for a family or $250 per person. It doesn't count towards insurance deductible and its a round about way of weeding out "undesirable patients" (ie. the poor). This will be my last year with SB Internal Medicine because I personally do not want to contribute to a business that exacerbates this country's already atrocious healthcare system. I am always able to make an appointment within a reasonable amount of time (rather than waiting months elsewhere). His office is pleasant and staff is professional. Good doctor with a not good $250 yearly administrative (membership?) fee. I was only a patient for a little over a year, so this was a deal-breaker. Office refuses to refill my prescription to help with my transition because I will not pay the "boutique" fee (not even a 7 day supply!). So, I am without an important medication for several days. read more

Heard lots of good things about this doctor, so my wife made an appointment with Dr. Morf. I am a Cottage employee and we have Cottage's insurance and he is in our list of providers, so I thought this would be a great fit. I come to find out after the appointment was scheduled that they wanted $100 upfront and $250 for the year as an "administrative fee." Whatever that is, I have never heard of it before. They were very clear that this was not covered by insurance and I would have to pay it out of pocket. Needless to say I cancelled the appointment immediately. I called my insurance company and they were stunned to find out that Dr. Morf was charging this. They said he should absolutely not be allowed to be charging anything more than the $20 copay. I would suggest to anyone to find another doctor who is not money hungry! read more

My mother was Dr. Morf's patient the last year of her life. He was so good with her and all her health problems. I liked how patient he was with me and my phone calls and concerns about her. He was very good about calling me back and advising me what to do. We had a great experience with him. read more
