The staff not answering a phone call i had an accident i have to ask my family member to go in to the office to make an appointment!!!! and now they are charging $300.00 annual fee. the billing office and front office are not helpful at all. they received a rejections for the claims and asking me to call insurance. I am working for medical field they do not even try to call insurance to see what is the problem. I was waiting for my mammogram result they said Dr is busy i was so anxious and start to cry i was waiting for few days , then they said you need to make an phone call appointment after few days waiting I made an Appointment to DR read my mammogram result. I was assigned to this medical group and scheduled four months out for a physical. I asked to be placed on a cancellation list in hopes of being seen sooner. Nearly three months later, I called to check my position on the cancellation list and to confirm my appointment date so I could complete the required electronic forms (which couldn't be done without that date). I was on hold for over 10 minutes before being disconnected, then waited another 5 minutes when I called back. When I finally reached the new patient intake coordinator, I mentioned that it would have been helpful if the appointment date had been included in the email so I wouldn't need to call to confirm. Instead of addressing the issue, she became defensive, explaining how she was the only person in that role/ department. I told her I understood but felt their processes could improve and lessen the frustration. When I asked where I was on the cancellation list, she responded in a condescending manner, telling me they had many patients and that I wasn't their only one. I explained that I was aware of their multiple locations and providers and that I'd be happy to see any provider, of any gender, if it meant being seen sooner. Despite that, she continued to give reasons why it wasn't possible to move my appointment. I did finally drag out of her that I was third on the list in which I said there was hope. I thanked her and ended the call. To my surprise, she called me back in what felt like a passive-aggressive manner, asking why I had hung up on her. I told her I had thanked her and was finished speaking. She was upset that I didn't say good bye but instead said thank you and hung up. She commented on my tone, and I told her I didn't appreciate her manner toward me and that I was matching her energy at this point. The conversation escalated, and admittedly, I did say the f word once out of frustration because she had called back only to continue the conflict rather than help. She then stated she would be speaking with management to revoke my ability to be seen at their practice. I said I understood and would also like to speak with management. About a week later, I received a letter stating I had been removed as a patient and would need to be reassigned elsewhere. After reading reviews on Yelp and other sites, I noticed a pattern of similar experiences. In the end, they probably did me a favor, but the lack of professionalism, empathy, and accountability from their intake staff was incredibly disappointing and reflects poorly on how this medical group treats patients. I don't generally leave reviews but this was unethical and very disappointing. read more

I've been trying to get a medication, and I'm on the fourth week calling having cvs send them the refill request and it's not getting done. I've been a patient for years I love my Dr. Lomelí, she was amazing, competent and would follow up with any little thing. Now all that is gone. Jackson Medical Group is starting a membership service effective 1st September, 2025. Annual fee of $300, separate from copay deductible, coinsurance, etc. Have been a patient for 2 years. Earlier this year they stopped accepting certain PPO programs, mine included. When I switched to another insurance group to comply with their policy, they accepted me. Then for my follow up heart problem visit they informed me they would not be accepting my insurance. I told them I would pay out of pocket. They said they do not accept cash payments. Had no choice but to go to a new facility called Urgent Care. Strangely the Dr there told me they had been in touch with Jackson and that Jackson would now see me!! When I rang Jackson to see if this was true, they said 'No'! My family of four will not be using Jackson. read more

Dr. Danica Lomeli and her Physician's Assistant Kelsey Collins are the best. Dr. Lomeli was my primary when she was working down in Los Angeles (I would drive from SB to see her!) and so I was over the moon she is now practicing here in town. Dr. Lomeli is the best doctor I've had, listening closely to my concerns and responding super quickly (both with communication and in change of treatment plans as needed). Kelsey is a fantastic PA who is super in depth, kind and asks great questions. Not the cold, quick intake or pre-doctor interview you usually experience here in SB! The gals up at the front are SO sweet, and do whatever they can to get you in right away (and apologize when they can't). I'm SO SO happy to have Dr. Lomeli and her all female, super kind team as my go-to doctor!! read more

I could not be more disappointed. I made a first time appointment for a wellness exam. Instead of overview of general health as schedule, the doctor chose to focus on specific concerns I mentioned and billed as a specialty appointment to charge a higher amount. I also found the Doctor too willing to prescribe medications that in my opinion were unnecessary, even after I stated my desire not to take prescriptions. Upon receiving a bill for specialty versus general health at a much higher cost, I had three calls into billing and still remains unresolved. Ultimately, my insurance company is assisting me filing a complaint to the Jackson Medical Group. I have since established a relationship with a general internist that only confirmed further how bad my "wellness exam" with Jackson Group was. Update....in response to their response, If they were so concerned about satisfaction why were none of my phone calls returned? I don't even know where to begin, so many things went wrong with my experience: rude staff, dropped phone calls, referrals not being sent (or getting referred for the wrong procedure!), and doctors who repeatedly told me "I don't know" or told me nothing was wrong, when clearly something was. They've given me false information, lied to my face multiple times to try to cover their own errors, and humiliated me in a way I have never experienced before in my life. It's so bad they even have a poor reputation with other providers around town. I'm surprised they are still in business and haven't been sued multiple times for the way they treat people who are vulnerable and seeking care. When I finally left, they didn't even send my medical records to my new service provider despite my requests, and (I think?) a legal requirement to do so. Had a very challenging situation with this organization albeit that I have been a patient for a few years .I called the Tuesday before Thanksgiving with a pain in my back right shoulder and without seeing me I was sent to the ER ..where they were fantastic and did all the tests to rule out anything serious. I was instructed that my PC doctor (Jackson would follow up with 3 days ) they did not..I called last with a pain in my chest and rather than discuss symptoms I was drilled about my insurance ..so careless and unethical I would not recommend to anyone . read more

I just got the bill for an annual physical. There were two charges for an annual checkup. They were new patient office visit for $206 and preventive medicine new patient for $180. Why the redundancy in charge? Seems like they were trying to squeeze as much money as possible out of the first visit. The checkup lasted about 15 minutes and did not justify the almost $400 price tag. Of course, the insurance company viewed the two items being unrelated and only paid for one. The patient was left to foot the bill even though the policy entitled them to one free physical per year. I filed a complaint with BBB, and finally got the double charge dropped. However, they act like they were doing me a huge favor instead of concede the bill was bogus. Always check your bill carefully and don't come here just because it is easy to get an appointment. My parents have been coming here for at least 20 years as well which is why I joined and now my teens are here as well. I recently moved to SB and got new insurance. The insurance gave me a doctor at Jackson. When I called for an appointment, it was a 6 month wait to see him, but I could get in to see a physician's assistant in a few weeks. I opted for the PA...wrong decision. She was uncooperative and unprofessional. I had previous doctor's notes from my specialist saying I needed surgery. She put in for a referral but refused to put in for an "urgent" or immediate referral. Regular referrals average a four to six month waiting period; urgent referrals give you immediate access. I also explained my need for a brand prescription (I was willing to pay the difference) because I cannot take the generic. I've been on the same medication for 44 years. She completely disregarded my medical history and called in the generic, not brand, prescription. When I gave her a negative review, they "dismissed" me from their practice. I have been in the health care field all my life and I have never experienced anything like the one (and thank God only) visit with Jackson Medical Group. Don't go here! read more

Loathe how money-driven they ve become. After 8 yrs. I fired them. Cummings was ignorant, imcompetent in prescribing meds and proper diagnostics. I came to disdain him for sarcasm, dismissiveness and crudeness. He is phoning it in now as he should retire....I wouldn t trust him with a hangnail. He d probably cause bloodpoisoning. Nancy Warner, FNP, is competent but rather brusk & rude & takes any questions or concerns as affronts to her authority. I do not recommend this office AT ALL!!! My primary care doctor retired so I needed a new PCP. The only positive I have to say is that the receptionists were nice, friendly & helpful. The nurse who took me back, took my vitals and entered info from my new patient questionaire. She did not smile, or introduce herself and was very unfriendly in all ways. She totally turned me off. The physician's asst came in and I immediately was surprised because I had requested a male MD due to my severe medical conditions. Right off the bat she had an unfriendly & sour demeaner. When I told her my list of medical conditions she tried to question me like I was making it up or exagerating. When I told her I needed new referrals to some of my long-time specialists she told me 2 of them their office doesnt refer too and I would need to switch to their selected specialist. When I told her I was on Lyrica for small fiber neuropathy she said they dont prescribe that even though it is non-narcotic. She was extremely combative amd I felt like their policies and procedures came way before care of the patients. I had asked a lot of my questions to the receptionist before my appt amd the doctor told me there was no way amd that I was mistalen and the receptionist wouldnt respond with what I told her they said. The entire visit was so uncomfortable.and unpleasant that I got up and just told her that I could never see her beimg.my doctor with her awful demeaner or this office as my PCP because it was a nightmare. A lot of turnover in the couple years I've been going (3 different docs so far). I would say 4/5 times the reception and billing staff give off a "too busy to actually help you" vibe if you have any questions or slightly deviate from their norm. When I switched insurance there was zero effort to understand who my new insurer was since it wasn't "Blue Shield or something like that." I tried to explain it was a self funded plan and was told it made no sense so doubtful they worked with it. I asked to at least receive a copy of the detailed bill so I could self submit and was told they'd let billing know but of course nothing happened. Also met with hostility when asking questions about intake questionnaire that I genuinely didn't know how to answer. I'm sure it's busy for staff but yikes. If I could have given this office 0 stars I would have. I scheduled an appointment to get specific testing done only to show up before my appointment wait a half hour past when I was supposed to be seen then told I will have to go else where to get the testing done. I used my entire lunch break that I took early and then also was 30 mins late getting back to work because of this whole ordeal. How about when someone calls you for things you don't do in house you tell them ahead of time that you will be sending them elsewhere to have that done instead of WASTING THEIR TIME! I've been treated by Dr. Jackson, Dr. Cummings, and in recent years Dr. Jalilian, and have always had an excellent experience. I recently had a telehealth appointment and the experience was easy and quick, a great way to see a medical professional. Most of the negative reviews here seem to be people upset with their insurance, the medical system as a whole, or just the fact that they need to see a doctor in the first place. Jackson Med Group was well-run several years ago, and has since taken a nose dive. High PA turnover is concerning. Front desk at 517 Junipero needs training; they didn't access the online med insurance & history that takes roughly 45 minutes to complete & submit (must be done prior to calling - again - to make an appt). It wasn't checked AT ALL before my appt; hence there was an insurance issue. Front desk didn't take responsibility for her negligence, and I didn't have my appt. I'm a healthcare worker and have worked front desk; this experience was unbelievably unprofessional. Between the online submission time and time away from work, I lost $$$. Just moving to the Santa Barbara area. So looking to find a doctor for a medical problem that I was having. Could not even make an appointment for a phone consultation until over a weeks time. I had a COVID test done, and the results were negative. That was good, except that I still was not feeling well. I had been having a lot of tightness in the center of my chest, and asked if I might get a referral for a chest x ray. I was told, that none of the imaging centers were open now. This information was completely bogus. I called up my old doctor in Woodland Hills, and described my problem. He said the imagining centers in Santa Barbara are open, and sent me a prescription for a chest x ray. Do not go, if you want good medical care. read more

My rating mostly refers to Dr. Cummings as well as Amarette although that may not be her correct spelling. (she's a Physicians Assistant.) Dr. Cummings has been my doctor for many years as well as my mothers. He is no doubt a top notch doctor that really cares and knows his stuff. He even quite literally helped save the life of my best friend that other doctors had overlooked a few symptoms that would have killed him if not for Dr. Cummings thorough checks and concern. He's a busy guy but a guy that cares and has earned my utmost respect in all manners. He has a great personality too. If you see Dr. Cummings you can be sure you'll get the straight up answers as he sees it. I've got almost half a million in doctor bills from serious issues so I've seen more doctors in my 33 years than most will see in their lifetime so I think I have a good understanding of doctors and what to expect etc. So if you're looking for a new GP, Dr. Cummings is your guy. Edit: While I still hold fast that Dr. Cummings is an excellent doctor, the staff is at best mediocre. They have, over the past several years become worse and worse with mistakes, not getting important messages to the doctor, being rude, making comments in notes that are inappropriate and unprofessional as well as irrelevant. I along with several others have left Jackson Medical Group because of this. It's tough because Dr. Cummings is excellent and caring. He's a great guy. But the staff is horrible. I would love to go into more detail but won't. So..great doctor....rude, and frequently mistake making staff and management. As well as impossible to get messages or voicemails through and when they do, they're often completely inaccurate as to what the people I know saiid to the staff. Constant mistakes between them and the pharmacies. From what I've seen with everyone that loved his practice, most have left, the others want to. I've been going to Jackson Medical Group for many years. All the doctors there are superb. They aren't rushed; they all take their time to listen to you. A couple times I actually got to see Dr. Jackson himself when my regular doctor wasn't available. I can see why everyone at the Jackson Medical group is good since Dr. Jackson certainly is excellent. Dr. Jackson must hand pick all the doctors himself. My wife saw a doctor at the Patterson office. When that doctor later moved to an office in Ventura my wife liked that doctor so much she decided to drive to Ventura to continue seeing that doctor. That's a really good doctor. Jackson Medical Group is somehow affiliated with Sansum Medical Clinic, in that medical records are seamlessly available to both. However, whereas I find Sansum to be crowded and hurried and monolithic, Jackson Medical Group is not. Both the Santa Barbara and Goleta offices are small enough to feel I'm getting personal service. (I haven't been to the Carpinteria office.) Primarily by appointment. However, they purposely keep open a number of slots every day so current patients can drop in if they have an urgent need. My only hesitation in posting a positive review is I kind of want to keep this gem of a place all to myself. ;-) read more

I saw a PA who was new to the practice...Dr. Quan I believe. She was excellent and eons better than my other Primary Care (who I was looking to switch from). The front desk staff wasn't welcoming, but they also weren't terribly rude. The medical assistants who took me back were nice and concise, the only issue was that they didn't take my blood pressure in different positions, which would have been typical protocol for the symptoms I experienced. Quan herself was great--she tended to my current symptoms but also seemed to take a thorough and holistic approach to my health, which I appreciated. In a place like SB where genuine care can be hard to find, I def recommend Dr. Quan! read more

Have been a patient at Jackson Med group the past few years. Have been treated so well there by the staff & loved every single nurse practitioner I saw. They do seem to have a huge turnover with practitioners though. I would like one & then she would be gone the next time I needed to go in. Last month I went in and the only person who could see me was Dr Jackson. I had a list of suggested blood work from my dietician and he completely disregarded it as unimportant or necessary, as well as my personal desire to have this complete women's panel done. It was all necessary to my dietician & I. I'm in my 50's & I know a bit about these panels by now. He was abrupt & arrogant. I will never step foot in one of his business's again. Amoret Lifquist is a great PA. She was very personable, friendly, and explained everything thoroughly. She did a very good job of making me feel comfortable and addressed all of my concerns. I especially liked how she discussed options, and was willing to work with me on treatment. As for the front desk, making the appointment was very easy. I have been very disappointed with Jackson Medical Group. Last time I was in for an appointment, the receptionist asked if I had ever been there before. I said, 'Yes, of course. I've been coming here for years.' She flipped through her files. Her: 'No, you've never been here before.' Me: 'Yes, I have. I've been coming here since Dr. Wagner owned this practice some years ago.' Her: 'No, you've never been here before.' Me: 'I come here every year for an annual physical that my insurance pays for.' Her: 'No, you've never been here before.' And so it went, volleying back and forth, until she finally got serious and found my records. Amoret Lifquist is a great. I highly recommend her for her open-mindedness and interpersonal skills alone. I have seen people in Jackson Medical who have made me feel like an idiot for asking about alternatives to prescription medication, but Amoret is willing to take the time to consider the alternatives and give a professional, honest recommendation. I know that if I have an appointment with Amoret, I will leave with all of my questions answered and my concerns addressed, even if I just get squeezed in for an emergency 10 minute appointment. read more

I have seen a variety of practitioners in both the Santa Barbara and Goleta locations. First I saw Amorett, who I liked and is no longer with the practice. Then I saw Giliola, also no longer with the practice. I have have also seen Dr Asani. All of them really took the time to answer my questions and explain things to me. I am not a big medication fan and each time they explained my options, often giving me multiple choices. They have reccomend great experts when I needed to see specialists. It is easy to get an appointment when I need one. read more

My mother is 92 years old and has been a patient of Dr. Cummings for about two years. We have only been to the Junipero site and it is always clean and orderly. Dr. Cummings is extremely knowledgeable, patient and precise and displaying extreme kindness to my mother. Throughout my mothers illness he has always over extended himself in having his staff call for updates on my mothers condition. I myself have worked at various medical facilities and know how busy they get and this is why I hold high respect for Dr. Cummings excellent bedside manner. All of the staff that we have come in contact with, have been great and have given us excellent service. I highly recommend Jackson Medical Group. read more
