By-far one of the most beautiful hotels in the area for miles and miles. Carved out of an old grocery warehouse facility, this hotel has 32 hotel rooms - and retains the spirit of its original, vintage design. It has an on-site bar and restaurant that clearly is a favorite for the locals as well. This is NOT the hotel for you if you're a late eater or a light sleeper. PROS: -So ridiculously cheap compared to what the quality is. If this hotel was located in a metropolis, it would easily be hundreds a night. -I love the decor of the place. This place really feels unique. While the colors definitely get a bit dated (all of the food, exposed wooden beams, etc.) and some of the chairs are two, the additional modern textures they've added (mirrors, chairs, rugs, etc.) help pull it all together. Rooms are a bit dark, but all of this additional detail could make this beautiful for pictures. -Everything has a lot of character. Honestly, that's just a big part of it. This isn't a carbon-copy hotel that you tune out. Every floor has unique chairs on it - a unique design. Rooms are all unique. There are fun common areas tucked away on some floors for you to relax in; it's like exploring a new place and it's fun. -Water pressure is perfect and the hot water is HOT. Holycrap hot. You can easily burn yourself. No lukewarm water here. -Two bathroom sinks. It's so odd - but in a cool way. Instead of side-by-side sinks, the bathroom sinks are opposite one another in a small entrance to the toilet/shower separate room. Great for sharing spaces with someone who keeps things in a different way than you do (messy/clean, etc.) -Beautiful outdoor eating and seating for the restaurant and bar. I'm unsure if it's ever tableside service (we got there late), but we were able to take our drinks to sit outside. There's not much of a view, but it's extremely spacious and comfy. -Complimentary breakfast in the morning was seriously legit. Not just cold muffins and pour-your-own cereal. There was even prepared chicken and waffles! One of the best free breakfasts we've seen. CONS: -Every. Single. Noise. will be heard. Have you ever been in the basement of an older house - and you can hear every step that someone takes on the main floors? That's this hotel. We were woken up with loud creaking when our upstairs patrons got up to pee in the middle of the night. Add this to the fact that this hotel is RIGHT next to a train (we're talking train tracks located right next to the driveway), and this is really, really, really not the place if you're a light sleeper. It'll drive you up the wall. -Both of our bathroom sinks drained super slowly. Just to spit out toothbrushing water, it'd get backed up. -Small hotel room hallways. Jackson Park Inn has an elevator for helping you get up its three floors, but the hotel room hallways themselves are extremely small; one person at a time small. -If you're self-conscious about walking on creaky floors, this is definitely not a good place to be. -Bar AND restaurant closed promptly at 9pm. They were nice enough to get us a beer pour before they closed up for good, but if you're someone who likes late-night food or drinks, this'll be an issue. -Parking lot is mostly taken up by bar and restaurant locals if you arrive between the late afternoon and 9pm. This is aggravating as a hotel patron; we got the last spot in the lot around 8:45PM - and by 10pm, there were tons of spots.

What an amazing place...and clean, comfortable and affordable. Love its history and its classic (100-year-old) ambiance.

Just stayed here for a night. I loved the hotel. My room was amazing. I really liked the charm of the place. It was certainly different than your regular place. Everything was perfectly clean and comfortable. I have stayed in a lot of hotels over the years and this one was one of my favorites.

Hotel is nice and Pulaski needed a place like this. We stayed one night and was on the second floor and while the open ceilings are nice and adds a cool vibe to the room. The one thing it doesn't do is keep the sound down. We was over the restaurant and it sounded like we was in the restaurant. Very loud could not sleep maybe the third floor is the floor to stay on. but the second floor probably is not a great option.

This is a very confusing hotel. I'll try to sort it all out with pros and cons, and give a final opinion on the full stay. We stayed at the Jackson Park Inn 11/29/15-11/30/15. Just one evening. Pros: 1.The interior design of the hotel is quite nice and modern. While the restaurant and bar were closed after we arrived (and we chose not to get lunch the next day as their oven was out) we were shown around and they looked rather nice. The menus looked a little uninspired but I can't comment on food I haven't had. 2. The rooms themselves on initial arrival looked very nice. They are spacious with huge ceilings and are pleasant to look at. 3. The beds themselves are quite comfortable. 4. The staff are amazing. The woman working the desk the night of our stay was always available and they were ready and willing to fix every problem we had. 5. The complimentary muffins were greatly appreciated and pretty tasty. 6. Price. At $98 a night it's a better choice than most places nearby. Cons: 1. The rooms had their issues. Our first room did not have a working tv (we were later told this is a consistent problem). Our second room had trash cans full of trash, and mysterious stains on the towels. The sheets were horrific and extremely stiff/starchy. The towels were cheap and rough. All in all, it seemed like a room built for having pretty pictures taken and not for actually staying in. Every element looked nice but then ceased to function in a good way. The desk was positioned so that you blocked the entrance if you used it, the "sofa" was extremely uncomfortable and the common room was full of stiff furniture. The common room fridge was also full of butter. Full. We don't really know why. 2. The elevator seems....suspect. It never felt particularly safe. 3. Sound travels all the way up. We were on the second floor and could hear and be woken up by the front desk phone. 4. Only working ice machine was on the third floor, and there were no plastic bags for the ice buckets. Pretty unsanitary. 5. Not a fault of the hotel, but there was NO food available in town after 10pm which seemed pretty silly. 6. Shower pressure was nil. Hot water lasted for maybe 3-4 minutes. 7. WiFi was down most of the night. Seems to be a common problem. 8. Low on ammenities. No coffee, spotty tv service, few plugs, no breakfast, no pool, etc. Some soaps and a fridge are about it. In closure, the hotel has potential but seems very 'form over function". It's uncomfortable, like staying in a Rooms to Go catalog. The money seems spent on statues and pictures and decorative pillows instead of making the hotel comfortable, warm and inviting. There are so many small things wrong that it adds up to a pretty cold, mediocre experience. The staff is great and hopefully that in and of itself will make the Jackson Park Inn step up its game. In all fairness, they did discount our rate after our issues and seem more than willing to make the Jackson Park Inn a place of recognition. The building is gorgeous and has so much potential, but is currently more of a show piece than anything I'd recommend to a traveler. I do hope to come back after the hotel has been open for a while and try it out again, if only to visit the staff and see if they've managed to find a happy medium between Inn and Show Piece.

Nice hotel... big rooms.... Paper thin walls. We could hear our neighbors to the point of understanding words.

I looked into a Bed and Breakfast and found the Rockwood Manor. The price was what you would expect with no price gouging whatsoever. It turned out to be a very happy turn of events. Rockwood Manor is about a 15 minute drive from Radford university and was perfect for our needs. The Manor is on the historic register. A bit rustic on in places, it was last renovated in 2005. It is a beautiful place and our Hosts Frank and Rochelle were warm, friendly and very welcoming. We stayed in the Blakemore room. It had lots of windows which provided a nice view of the property. Our room also had a jacuzzi which we used and it was amazing after a long day on the road. The bed was a bit more firm than what we are used to at home and we recommended a mattress topper but by no means is this a negative as it is a personal preference. The linens were nice and clean and smelled fresh. We walked around the property and they looked to be all set up for wedding events. Lots of space, lots of areas for photo ops. It would be an ideal place for a wedding with room for a reception. The inside while at one point was the family home was like walking through history. We loved it. My favorite thing about the place was that I felt at home. Frank and and Rochelle are wonderful hosts. The breakfast the next morning was great with options for everyone. They also set the food up buffet style which made me feel like I was at a big family breakfast :) The only suggestion I would have is for our hosts to look into some professional rug cleaning. There were a couple of stains in the rug under the table in our room would need professional stain removal to get out. This place is one of the best B&Bs my wife and I have ever visited. We loved it!!!

The grounds and the home are wonderful. The house is full of the history of the home, American values and beautifully addressed for the Christmas season. Christy was wonderful; she reached out to ensure we could gain access, answers questions and prepared our breakfast the next morning. She is the best and should be acknowledged for her spirit of excellent service. Rockwood Manor also has a Hokie room in the basement, I am sure it was in tribute to my son's graduation. They have a little convenience shop to the left of the desk filled with snacks and, luckily, floaties for the pool. The front desk ladies were polite and friendly! We stayed here twice, in the same room actually. It had 2 queen beds, a pull out couch, mini fridge, desk area, and a decently sized bathroom. Our party consisted of 2 adults and 2 children and we had more than enough room. The bathroom was stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, all in refillable pump bottles. The sink also had hand wash and body lotion. The pool area was kept clean and the staff said we could eat in there at the tables if we wanted. It wasn't a huge area, but there were at least 2 tables and several options for seating. The pool only went to 5 feet and had decent stairs for my toddler in the shallow end. There was also a small gym, complete with some dumbbells, an adjustable bench, treadmill, elliptical, and star stepper, plus a yoga mat and exercise ball. There was a small cabinet which held towels, wipes, and a water dispenser/cups. The only bummer was I saw the same dead moth under the elliptical both stays (2 weeks apart), so I know the gym hadn't been cleaned. Breakfast was decent-- it was the same both both times we had it. They have 3 cereal options, some yogurt and oatmeal, fresh fruit (apples, oranges, and bananas), two types of eggs, sausage, bacon, toast (even a GF bread), bagels, muffins, cinnamon rolls, and a pancake maker. There was also coffee and tea. Everything was served until 9:30. There is always water with fresh fruit out. We ate at two nearby restaurants-- Fat Boy's Pizza and Cinco de Mayo Mexican and both were great! There is also a restaurant list inside the lobby. I felt safe staying here and had no issues in the parking lot. There were only a few other guests during both of our stays. This was a good spot to stay during our travels and I will definitely consider coming back!

But once we got there, it was beautiful! The lake was stunning. We stayed 2 nights - Thurs/Fri. I wished we could have stayed longer but it was booked. We mostly went out on the canoe and fished. My husband was obsessed with the fire pit. There weren't any spiders in the house so I was grateful lol. We were 20 minutes from civilization. You can get groceries from either Food Lion or Walmart. There aren't a lot of restaurants unfortunately. The closest cafe only had breakfast on the weekends so we had to venture further. I'm a luxury kinda gale. I love staying in a nice hotel. I understand this kinda place isn't a hotel, but if they're claiming luxury, they need to step it up some. I was expecting a little more Pottery Barn and less grandma's house. The place would have been perfection except for a couple things - needed better shower heads, towels, bath mats, bathroom rugs. The chair cushions on the balcony were dirty and they need to move the sofa closer to the tv in the living room. However the rest of the house was downright cute and cozy. Overall, I had a wonderful time and I would highly recommend this place.

My family & I were there for almost 6 months- the first few months we were there the property managers were very friendly, and helpful. The rooms are equipped with a small kitchen, it reminds me of a studio apartment. During our stay there several different altercations took place on the premises between other people who were staying there and management. Drugs are VERY prevalent at this establishment, and are effecting the way this business is being ran. There is a noticeable change in the management and the way things are being done at this establishment. The rooms are not being cleaned well, and there are roaches in several of the rooms. During our stay there we were given linen upon check in- never again after that. There were burn holes & stains on the flat sheets we were given. The mattresses were gross, no mattress protector- I had to purchase my own. We were given tissues on occasion, but never toilet paper or other essentials that most motels would provide and are included in the room rates. There is no housekeeping on a day to day basis. The cleaning supplies that are provided, such as a vacuum or carpet cleaner are not cleaned and covered in filth. The washer & dryers that are paid for do not work, and the ones that are there for use of the property managers are only used by a select few people who are allowed. There are SEVERAL dogs here. Most defaecate all over the parking lot, and on the walkway that is upstairs. Overall this was not a positive experience and I'd strongly encourage you to look elsewhere to stay if you are able. The drugs and attitudes run rampant there. The managers are delusional and make up their own rules, and ways to charge people for rooms. (Such as if two working men are staying in the same room, they both have to pay rent rate, it cannot just be one of them at one rate) the door locks are not secure & someone can easily card your door. There were several occasions people were entering rooms they had no business being in, or had not given notice to go into. Hope this gives some insight and someone finds it helpful!
