A cute little restaurant right off the parkway. There is a motel and a 24/7 convenient store next door with vending machines and is completely self service. A very cool idea to stop and get a snack or Tylenol or even a microwaveable breakfast sandwich. The restaurant was clean, staff was friendly and willing to spark up a conversation, and the food came out quick! Definitely recommend stopping in and getting a bite to eat! read more

I miss the old Tiggles Gap with the restaurant being open in the evening. After you day trip,you could go over there for dinner and there were always folks to have a beer and hang out with and the people staying with you in the motel were friendly too. I miss the food they used to serve too. That is what made it fun for us. Now the people staying there in the hotel with you are snobs. And won't even chat at breakfast. No complaints against the room itself except the price and did not get the experience we used to. Sorry I might not go back. Previous owners I miss you! New owner please bring the restaurant back to what it used to be. read more

Beautifully refurbished. However there is virtually no water pressure and at 150/night I expect to be able to shower. Now nine pm and there are no other guests present and there is a trickle of water from the faucet and NONE in the shower. This is not acceptable. I would give a half star if that. read more

June /26/2024. This place several years ago was not a great place to stay but since it has been taken over by new owners it feels like a "luxury" motel. Every time we have stayed here over the past several years it is always clean, beds are comfortable and I feel safe staying here by myself. They have a wonderful breakfast; it is a free breakfast and it is better than any free breakfast you get at a hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful; and there are activities you can sign up to do while staying here. For a motel in the mountains it feels more like a b and b. The new owners did a great job with the upgrades. Thanks for making us such a nice place to stay. Oh and I forgot to tell you; it is located just steps from the Blue Ridge Parkway. read more

Cute little cafe that was converted from an old gas station. Went twice in the past few days. The first trip was great the food good, very friendly wait staff. Liked it enough that we tried to bring the grandkids for a fast lunch. We walked in was greeted with what do you want. I said lunch and stepped into the restroom she proceeded to tell my husband and grandkids that they just closed it was 12:30 sign said closed at 4pm. I don't know if they don't want kids there or if she was having a bad day. I won't be returning. read more

This is such a cool place and we were lucky to find it. If you were driving the Blue Ridge you know how hard it can be sometimes to find a decent restaurant much less a decent restaurant that sells gas. We stumbled upon this place late one night and it was one of the best meals that we have on the parkway. A great mom and pop stop on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Real simple and fast food. Great for a quick meal before continuing on your ride. Sweet tea was on point and the garlic fries were so garlicky it would kill a vampire (in a good way). Burgers were made to order and came out as requested. Only reason for the 4 instead of a 5 was that we sat at the door waiting to be seated. The waitress who was working the patio saw us but she was busy and it took her a few minutes to get the attention of he waitress working the main room. Maybe a bell on the door or just let people seat themselves. read more

I love this casual, relaxed motel and diner that's surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains! It reminds me of days gone by and the beauty of simplicity. I spent 2 nights with my 7 year old son and we both really enjoyed it. My son enjoyed climbing the old trees on the property. The Catfish was delicious and was served with a fresh green salad which was a good end to a long day of driving. The breakfast was also really good. They had wi fi in the diner but, not in the rooms. There wasn't air conditioning but, it stayed cool in the rooms even in the heat of the summer. I recommend this motel while traveling through the Blue Ride Mountains and will be returning whenever I can. read more

What a great surprise after a long day of motorcycle riding on the Blue Ridge Parkway in beautiful, southern Virginia! This little gem can be found just off the Parkway at mile marker 165.2 We needed a place to eat and sleep for the night and just happened to glance over to the left as we were heading south on the Parkway near Floyd, VA and there it was. Something just told us to turn around and give it a try and we were so glad we did. While the motel is not for those of you looking for luxury - it was comfortable for a couple who likes to get away from the chains and try out the mom & pop type places on the back roads. But the real surprises were in the restaurant. We heard later from a park ranger that it is under new ownership. We had both dinner and breakfast (the next morning). Dinner was affordable and the food was excellent. They offer a wide menu that includes really good comfort food (I had meatloaf, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy) and believe it or not "southwestern" fare. My fiance' tried the special burritos and he was quite pleased. Since they boasted homemade pies, we decided to go for it - we tried the coconut cream and the surprising Tuggles Gap Pie. It was heaven on a plate! A brownie crust, topped with a cream cheese mixture, chocolate pudding filling, meringue drizzled with chocolate and caramel sauce. Sounds simple enough but it was wonderful! The next morning I had pancakes, sausage, grits and once again my fiance' went southwestern with the breakfast burrito. It was all yummy and we were ready for another long day of riding the parkway. read more

I've eaten here twice - both times after hiking Rocky Knob. The service is fast and friendly, and the food is tasty. I was pleasently surprized at the variety on the menu - I expected only diner-type food, but there were mexican dishes as well as burgers and sandwiches. The prices are quite low, too. Delicious food at a fair price, with friendly service. Menu isn't extensive but covers all the bases: beef and turkey burgers, a BLT wrap, chicken, fish, patty melt, and more. I ordered the patty melt and garlic fries. The patty melt was delicious but the garlic fries were a bit of a let down, lacking in flavor. Covering them with salt and ketchup fixed them right up. It started with a glass of water and coffee, My wife ordered tea. The water was yellow, I didn't know if the glass was just old and dingy or someone had peed in the glass. The excuse was iron in the water. They make filters for that! My wife's tea was made with the same rusty water, she couldn't drink it. Had to ask two different waitresses for my coffee three times. I ordered pancakes and thick sliced bacon, looked like regular paper thin bacon to me. The waitress sat my plate down and walked off. I'll start by simply saying , it is what it is! A very small restaurant attached to a very small motel just off the Blue Ridge Parkway about eight miles above Floyd, VA. I have eaten Breakfast here several times (last week being the most recent)and have never been disappointed with my meal. All the usual items are offered, potatoes are cooked fresh - no frozen hash browns! Only drawback for me was no link sausage which I happen to prefer over patty style. Choice of toast with meal was OK, but some times a fresh biscuit hits the spot. Since I don't need the extra calories, the lack didn't bother me too greatly! My partner had the "Breakfast Bowl" which turned out to be an egg scramble with bacon and potato all in one. She said it was pretty tasty and she didn't leave any on the plate. Ambiance was just right with a trickle of folks coming and going as we ate. Our waitress was VERY friendly and service was excellent. If you can't get a seat at the Blue Ridge Restaurant in Floyd, it's worth the 10 minute drive up the mountain to have breakfast here and I will do just that from now on! read more

Have dined and stayed at Tuggles Gap Restaurant Hotel a number of times. The food at the restaurant is consistently great. Breakfast is to die for. If you go there the right time of the year, it is nice to sit and eat on the deck. Even in the dead of winter you'll feel a warm home like feel to this restaurant. Although they lack any local beers they do sport a couple of local wines. Nothing fancy but simply great food. Although not on the menu, they do serve a pretty good country ham in the mornings. So, take of your cloths, but on something comfortable and go on down to Tuggles Gap for some nice home cooked food. read more

I was very disappointed in this place. The motel is very out dated even tho the website said the room had been renovated. Only heat is a plug in radiator, no curtains on the Windows only blinds. The toilet was stained so bad by rust in the water I flushed it the 1st time I went in there cause it looked like someone had used it an not flushed. Shower floor was stained with rust. Then around 11pm our "neighbors" had left the bar from the restaurant an moved their party to the front porch of the motel. Were they played guitars an dranked for several hours. The restaurant food was a disappointment as well. Slow service, food was cold when I got it. The night before I asked for a mt dew an I was given a 24oz bottle ($2.00) next morning I order a mt dew with my breakfast an was giving a small whiskey glass with ice an drink for the same price!! Worst restaurant experience of my entire life. A friend and I went to Blue Ridge Parkway for a day out, and decided to go to Tuggles Gap restaurant to eat. We arrived at 12:30. We sat ourselves as told, waited about 10 minutes but no one came, so I grabbed a menu from the front desk. After what seemed like forever, some one finally came to wait on us. They asked what we wanted to drink. My friend got water and I got Dr Pepper, but when she finally brought our drinks back ..... my soda was flat! when I told her it was flat, she looked at me like I was dumb and didn't know what I was talking about...she brought me a bottle of soda instead, but I forgot to ask for a cup of ice so I waited for her to come back. She didn't come back for 20 minutes. After waiting an hour since getting there, she finally took our orders. We ordered our food and LITERALLY did not get it until an hour later... The people around us were even upset too ... (side note: she was wearing jeans , and her butt crack could be seen even when standing normal.... not the kind of thing you want to see in a restaurant..) we got our food and I got a burger. I asked her to bring me some A1 steak sauce... she never did. i wasn't going to wait so we ate and left. The food was way overpriced and the service was terrible. Will NEVER be going back here again. :( read more
