Hello to the loving pet owners of our world, I contacted this establishment by phone and spoke with the attendant. She quoted a fee of only $120 to see my small pet, Rooroo. Before the visit, I observed two ticks on her, both of the same size and located in the same area. I was uncertain about how long they had been attached and wished to have her examined and the ticks removed. The cost for each tick was an additional $80, and if the removal proved difficult, the total cost could exceed $300 and may have to be still yet done by a regular vet of my choice the following day. That would have been an additional set of fees as well. This fee was solely to ensure the ticks were removed and my pet was free of health issues. Furthermore, the facility only accepted cash or credit card payment at the time and would not invoice my existing pet insurance plan, which I have through Walmart and Fetch via AARP. Consequently, I decided to take her to a nearby friends house that loves my kitten and my cat returns the same love and trustworthy them and because she is very important to me, and I could not perform the procedure myself, as I am emotionally attached to my pet, whom I consider my baby, and I only wanted the best care for her. Hence, upon arrival, I found the staff to be unfriendly and primarily focused on financial gain. It was late at night, around 2 a.m., and I woke a friend who is knowledgeable about such matters to assist me. I offered the friend a fee of $100, and because of the mutual trust and affection between my pet and the friend, the procedure was completed in about two minutes. I am strongly opposed to any service provider prioritizing profit over the well-being of a living creature, especially in emergency situations. My experience at that facility demonstrated greed and a lack of compassion from the staff, and I will not return. I called this emergency veterinary clinic because I was deeply worried about my little fur baby, RooRoo. That meant I was facing over $300 simply to help my baby in a moment of fear and urgency. I also asked about the pet insurance plans I carry, and they would not bill either one. Payment had to be made immediately, on the spot. When someone calls in distress over a beloved animal, the first concern should be the pet's well-being, not how fast a debit card can be swiped. I took RooRoo there anyway because she is my baby, and I wanted the best for her. But when I arrived around 2:00 a.m., the atmosphere felt cold, unfriendly, and centered on money rather than care. There was no warmth, no reassurance, and no sense that anyone truly cared about the frightened little animal I brought through the door. That experience upset me deeply. I ended up leaving, waking a trusted friend in the middle of the night, someone knowledgeable with animals, someone RooRoo knows and loves. Within two minutes, the ticks were removed calmly and safely in an environment of trust and kindness. That contrast said everything. I understand businesses must charge for services. I respect professionals being paid for their skill and time. But when an emergency clinic appears more concerned with profit than compassion, it leaves a lasting impression. When a vulnerable animal is involved, empathy should come first. What I saw that night felt like greed, indifference, and a complete lack of heart. I will never return. ***Jackson doesn't have a lot of options for after-hours animal care, so you may want to consider and plan where you may want to take your pet in Memphis or Nashville should illness/emergency strike.*** I am writing this review on behalf of my parents who are so heartbroken and devastated right now by the neglect and abuse their dog endured at Jackson Pet Emergency Clinic on N. Highland Ave. I hope this review prevents other pets and families from being subjected to the horrible events we encountered here. Winston, the sweet, loving, funny bulldog you see pictured, had unfortunately undergone a botched surgery at another facility. Suspecting infection/sepsis, my parents brought him to this animal hospital. My parents entrusted Winston and his health to this hospital. He wasn't eating, drinking, and seemed to be in severe amounts of pain. When my family went to visit their beloved pet, his IV had come out. It's unknown how long it was out, but he wasn't getting the fluids and antibiotics he desperately needed. When my family asked when the doctor would be coming to evaluate Winston, they were told they were "waiting for the GOOD doctor to come on shift". The timeframe kept getting longer and longer. We were constantly being told how other animals were being prioritized over our dog, despite their ailments being less critical (like a broken bone vs. septic shock). Meanwhile, we could tell Winston was fading. We were told the IV wasn't being replaced due to "edema", though the only swollen part on him was his surgical site and the area where the IV had come out (obviously infiltrated; there was no reason to not restart the IV on a different limb). We kept asking about testing for sepsis and treating for infection, but we were brushed off repeatedly. Winston was at this hospital nearly 48 hours before he eventually, slowly, painfully died. This death was tragic and unnecessary. My parents entrusted their beloved pet to this hospital in the hopes his infection would be treated, but instead Winston was neglected and ignored. He was visibly weak and miserable, but the vet tech Kayla chose to drag him across the floor by a leash tied around his neck as opposed to treating this ill, innocent pet with care and dignity. His surgical site was weeping fluid, but we were told this was "rust from a filing cabinet". We BEGGED staff to take us seriously, but no one did, and we lost our best friend for it. I am writing this in the hopes no one else suffers the untimely, premature loss of their pet like my family has. We not only lost a piece of our hearts, but had to watch our fur-baby suffer needlessly. If he had gotten the antibiotics, IV fluids, and CARE that he needed, Winston wouldn't have had to endure slow suffering while infection drained him, and we wouldn't have had to endure the trauma of helplessly watching, begging for help, and being ignored. read more

We came in from Dyersburg on the weekend due to the fact there are no vets near us open. The check in process was easy and the staff was friendly. The vet tech clearly knew what she was doing and was very comfortable around our dog. Our pup had a possible foreign body obstruction and ended up getting surgery. The vet updated us throughout the whole process and was very informative. The only thing I would change is the phone call that happened during surgery. We had to make a decision about care while our pup was still on the table and the service/sound of the call was awful. We could only hear every other word which made it difficult to make an informed decision. (Our service was great). Throughout the night they stressed that if we had any concerns or just wanted to check in that they were just a quick call away. Picking him up in the morning was a breeze and they gave us everything we needed in order to take good care of our pup. I would definitely go back if needed. Brought in my dog after he had been hit by a car. I called ahead to let them know what I was coming in with. As soon as we entered in the vet they took him out of my wifes arms and immediately got to work. We never went 20 minutes without a thorough update on our baby within the 2 hours we were there. It is without a doubt that I can say they have a very professional and caring staff. If it wasnt due to their hard work and dedication I dont think I would have my boy with me today. My dog ate some poisonous mushrooms so I brought her in on a Sunday morning. She was taken to the back immediately and given something to cause her to throw up. I was grateful for their quick care. I received a message from them checking on her the next day which was so nice. It was pricey but Im just glad for their help and would come here again for emergencies. read more

I refuse to take my animals to this place. I agree to paying more to get in the door because it's an emergency but to triple charge you for services. The last two dogs I have taken there, died. One before I got to the county line. If I have an emergency, I go to Huntingdon. All the vets are great. On call 24/7. granted it takes me an hour but it's life saving. I worked with a vet for several hours one Sunday on my dog. I assisted him. They do charge for emergency call, but don't jack the prices up. read more

I have had to use the services of this clinic on a couple of occasions. Always stressful because it's a pet emergency already. I did find the care of my girl to be very good. They do charge their fee's and have a system to do so that they have to utilize to be paid for their services. Very understandable. And it's not I expensive since it is emergency care. I do appreciate they are available when needed. And they have always been willing to answer questions over the phone to help me decide if it can wait till regular vet visit the next morning or if it is an emergency and need to come to them then. read more

This clinic has saved 3 of my dogs from dying over the last 3 years! 2 of my dogs were bitten by venomous snakes and one dog needed a blood transfusion. They were very caring and I was not over charged. If it was not for the clinic all my dogs would be dead, I am forever grateful! read more

Saturday evening our pit/lab swallowed a full busy bone and was wheezing with labored breathing. When we arrived the technician took him back immediately and the lady at the window kept repeating that it was $89.00. I said no problem but don't you want me to pay for everything at one time and she said no I would make another payment after. I was then approached by another person telling me that they were going to have to sedate him to check his throat. The doctor then came out saying nothing was in his throat and his esophagus was just scratched which is why he was wheezing, coughing and having a hard time breathing. I did tell the Dr. again before I left that we never saw the bone come out. He said I gave him pain meds and antibiotics and follow up with your vet on Monday. Well Sunday, Monkey our dog was still struggling to breath and was just lethargic but we thought it was just from the scratch. Then about 9:30pm he started vomiting and the 3rd time a 6" busy bone came out and he has not wheezed or coughed since. I called my vet this morning to ask if he did any Dr Smith did any x-rays and he NEVER did. I paid $300 for the worst care I have ever received. Unless you want to put your dog down don't ever go there!!!! I will be calling with a formal complaint as soon as they open at 5:30. read more

My neighbor had the same problem as Michelle H. Their dog swallowed an acorn on Sunday so they took him to this clinic. The vet said there was nothing in his windpipe (without even doing an xray). The poor dog was wheezing and coughing and was later seen by a local vet who determined the dog had in fact had the acorn lodged in his windpipe and before they could get it out, he passed. That dog suffered ALL day long and was sent home saying he would be ok only to die that night for NO reason. Shame on these people! read more

I am both disgusted and thankful. On April 4 a cat in my neighborhood we all feed (as she was either left behind or thrown out) and care for seemed to be going into labor. We could tell she was pregnant but didn't know how far along. She had started spotting and we set up a place that was safe from other outdoor pets/animals in our home but there was a lot of thick blood and it didn't seem normal. I contacted a woman on Facebook who works for the AMAZING vet I take all my pets to and asked what should I do. She said the only thing open at this time (and since this is/was during the covid 19 quarantine) so this was the only option as it was after hours and weekend. Immediately we put the cat we call Carmen into a pet carrier and drove to Jackson from Lexington. They came and took her from the car because of quarantine guidelines. They got my phone number. When the phone rang it was a woman who told us it would be $89 for exam and we said ok and she had taken our credit card with her. She called back and the dr was on the phone and idk what he thought he said to us but his first words was "I was wrong, she's got pyometra." The woman said this would be over $900. I explained this wasn't my cat and could they discount because I was just trying to give her the right care but she didn't have a home as the whole neighborhood takes care of her. The dr actually said to me "I can euthanize her but that's all I can do if you can't afford surgery." I said absolutely do not kill her! I said just put it on the credit card. Suddenly the woman said ok with the use of facility and cost of surgery it will be $1298.00. I was like omg! But all life matters so we decided to put it on the card. They sent us home and about two hours later called back and told us the mom was not calm and three babies had already died when they did surgery but one survived and to wait another hour because they couldn't get mom to calm down. My husband later went to pick the mom and baby up and they lowered the bill back to a bit over $900 but this same procedure would have been way less if we had been able to take her to our regular vet. I'm thankful they saved one baby and the mom's life but they had no heart at all. If we didn't have a credit card they would have just killed her. It made no difference to them. They were all about money. I understand things cost money and that's fine but there was no heart which is rare in the animal world. Usually people are considerate and I asked for a payment plan but was denied that. So yes I'm thankful they saved her but it was really a big thank you to our Discover card. The good news is mom and baby now have a home (with me) and are doing fine. read more

Terrible place! It's clear they only care about money. Charles Smith was the vet and was the worst. Had a terrible attitude and didn't care about our dog at all, only cared about money. It was a Sunday so our typical vet was closed and we were so worried about our dog that we took him to this place which was a huge mistake. We were very worried about our dog because he was sick and the man had the absolute worst bedside manner and was extremely rude and sarcastic about our concerns, the entire time he was focusing on things that made money (ie, needs his teeth cleaned, etc) and ignoring all of our primary concerns for our sick dog. He left quickly without addressing our concerns and said he would have someone come in with estimates before talking further. He had a lady come in with a cost sheet for everything and wanted money and he still had not told us what was wrong with our dog. We left without having any clearer indication to what was wrong with our dog. Thankfully we were able to see our regular vet first thing the next morning and he properly treated our dog. The kindness and respect of this staff is absolutely wonderful. I can not recommend them enough. Our dog was struck by and car and unfortunately was not able to may it but I couldn't have asked for better treatment then they gave us. They were extremely respectful of our time with him and walked us through the whole process. They truly empathized with us and treated us and our sweet dog as if he was theirs. Absolutely disgusted by the greed and rudeness I experienced here. Took my dog in for an exam and the Vet (Dr. Charles Smith) was absolutely abyssal. One of the first things he did was tell us that he wanted to tranquilize our dog before treating her, and didn't touch or examine her at all. After a $189 blood test fee (in addition to her $89 exam fee) he recommended a $50 shot to help with her pain, without ever giving a real diagnosis. We asked if he could prescribe a different medication that she has had before and he acted like we slapped him across the face. Not only did he snap at us about how we shouldn't have asked for that medicine, but told us that she shouldn't take it at all. The medicine we suggested is extremely common for dogs and is totally fine for pain. When we politely declined the shot to the technician, he immediately stuck his head back in (he was listening to our private conversation) to tell us that all we had to do was give her an aspirin instead. I experienced nothing but greed and laziness here and would highly suggest no one ever going back. The only redeeming factor to this visit was the Technician Mrs. Beth, who was very kind and helpful from beginning to end. read more

This the WORST pet facility I've ever encountered, I took a cat here because it had a worm in its neck and was unable to eat and was severely malnourished, and After an hour of debating, they removed the worm, gave her shots and medicine, and sent her home with me. I fell in love with this sweet baby. Took her to my regular vet got her shots everything, and then a week later, I come home to my cat having seizures, I return to Jackson Pet Emergency Clinic to be told that the only thing they can do is put her down. I spent $500 in vet bills, all for them not to realize that she was blind, deaf, and had severe brain trauma. Unsure how these people even have licenses. read more
