We have a very expensive duck dog and thus have a ton of money invested into her training and overall health. We do not live in West TN, and we chose to use Mill Creek as the liaison for a breeding we were doing with a dog in the Jackson area. I realize people have a variety of experiences - but I'm telling you - this facility and the owners are stellar in their approach to pet care. Because of our experience in the dog industry working with trainers and test facilities, I've worked with many trainers and kennel owners. I could not get over how clean and how prepared Mill Creek was overall. You can tell a lot about a person's heart for their calling, and when you enter into their facility you know instantly "these people care about what they do." However, it was in the actual thoroughness of the care that impressed me most. Mike and Shirley Simmons kept our prized Black Lab female for over a week. They took her to the vet, sent me texts or called me every time something needed to be talked through, and even went so far as to document each day's journal of what was done both with the female and the stud. I've never used them for training, as I do my own for the most part; however, I can tell you, just from my long experience with trainers, Mike Simmons knows his craft and he knows it well. I dropped off my pitbull for an extended stay as I was in the process moving and could not take him with me. Paperwork was signed saying that the dog would be taken to the vet in the event he became sick. When a friend volunteered to watch my dog, I had her get him from the kennel. She was shocked and disgusted when she got the dog. My 75 lb dog had his ribs and spine showing and had sores and bald spots. He was also throwing up, had diahrrea and couldn't eat. An immediate vet visit revealed that my dog had lost 20 lbs and had a virus. Within days, my dog was eating normally and gaining weight under my friend's care. When I tried to contact the kennel, the owner chewed me out and told me that the dog was perfectly healthy. He wouldn't even let me speak and hung up on me. If I would have left the dog one more month, I believe he would have died. Do not take your beloved pet here if you value its well being. This was without a doubt the worst experience i have ever had to deal with when it comes to boarding my dogs. The facilities were not clean at all and when i pointed that out to Mr. Simmons he rudely told me to mind my own business and I don't know what a clean kennel looks like. I highly recommend Mill Creek to anyone that is looking for top notch training and/or quality boarding for your dog. The owners, Mike and Shirley, are extremely nice people who have been in this business for many years. Mike trained my lab in his gun dog program, and I was extremely impressed with the results and Mike gave updates and explained everything he did along the way. We have also boarded our dog there several times when we've left on vacation. The facilities are as nice and clean as you'll find anywhere, both indoors and the overall grounds. They have full time staff that makes sure all dogs are exercised, fed, and taken care of. I know there are some negative reviews on here, but just remember there are two sides to every story and some people look for anything to complain about. If you respect them, they will respect you and your pet. Just know that Mike and Shirley couldn't have built a successful business on poor performance. My wife and I have been extremely pleased each time we have done business at Mill Creek, and I never worry about my dogs safety while in their care. I doubt you will find a more professional and caring facility for your dog anywhere in West TN. read more
