This law firm was recommended by a local group, so I reached out through their online form to request assistance with reviewing a family law case. A receptionist called me very early in the morning, and we ended up playing phone tag for a bit. Once we connected, she completed the intake process. I made it clear (or so I thought) what I was seeking help with and who the other party was. I was told the consultation fee but never received a link or instructions to submit payment. On the day of the scheduled consultation, I received a phone call and an email stating that the firm was too heavy in caseload and had ongoing client emergencies. While I am very understanding that emergencies happen, there was no attempt to reschedule the consultation. It also seemed possible that a conflict of interest or workload issue may not have been identified earlier in the process, which made the experience feel a bit disorganized. Jonathan was the only lawyer willing to help me. I had called a mess of other lawyers that I tried, and none of them wanted to do a dog-bite case for me. Everyone else had their excuses about not wanting to do any real work. As soon I had hung up the phone on my first conversation with Jonathan my anxiety was so much more relieved. I had been simply overwhelmed by the legal process and was grateful there existed a lawyer out there who believed in me and my case. As a result, we WON the case. He was thorough, well-researched and well-practiced. I have a feeling he is either "all in or all out" when it comes to what he believes in and what cases he will take. This results in some people not being picked up for his services. Mr. Jacobs states in his introduction on his website that communication is key, my husband and I were seeking a lawyer that offered great communication throughout the process of a child support and shared parenting modification. Being that this would be our second time around dealing with a lawyer and our first experience with a other lawyer having gone horribly wrong, we decided to attend a consult with Mr. Jacobs. Upon our consult we were both very pleased with the outcome, and mentioned to Mr. Jacobs that we would be making a decision within 24 hours. After a few other consults with other lawyers we were confident Mr. Jacobs was our guy, unfortunately we found out very quickly that Mr. Jacobs is not as good in communication as he claims to be. My husband called him on numerous occasions to inform him we would like for him to take on our case, as well as sent out numerous text messages and not once did we receive a call back, email or text message from him. If your going to claim good communication skills then you should follow through with those promises, and not leave people hanging. Weeks went by and we were able to reach Mr. Jacobs when asked why we never heard back from him he simply stated he assumed we had gone with a other lawyer. Not offering an apology or considering to ask if we had already hired a lawyer. This is not the way to treat potential clients. GO ELSEWHERE. read more

I wish there was a way to give zero stars because this firm does not deserve even one. Communications was great until payment was made. From that point, this attorney did not do anything that he said that he would do, failed to schedule necessary meetings to prepare response to petition. After dealing with this long enough and understanding that I now had less than 10 days left to submit a response, I decided to move on from Mr. Jacobs. He then proceeded to send me a timesheet that reflects charges for an initial free phone consultation (pre-retainer), text messages, and document prep on items that we never discussed because he was too busy. Knowing that he has been unavailable for various reasons... COVID, hearings, etc. he still claims that his firm does not owe any monies but nothing beyond text messages and consultation call was done. We have an agreement for a flat fee to get through mediation but then he charges me 9 hours of work with no justification or results. I would not recommend this lawyer to anyone who values their money and prefers to deal with professional and honest people. To take advantage of someone at a very vulnerable and difficult time in their life is despicable and immoral. read more
