Incorrect documents causing time delays and extra hearings due to not addressing the primary issue…read morein the first hearing. After $1500 (of course paid up front) and 5 months , finally managed to get temporary custody, which was uncontested, from my ex who was in hospice care at a nursing home facility. Then another 3 months to get child support suspended, which was the primary issue that I contacted them for ( I was told that I should've mentioned sooner that I wanted child support stopped once getting custody. It had been explained in great detail in my initial email to them). Then I was told by phone, the following July (1 year later), that my remaining credit was $150.98 but another $400 was needed within the next two days to complete the case for a September hearing. Not that the attorney showed up or notified me of his upcoming absence at the time of the prior hearing (after sitting with my stomach in knots wondering why nobody was there to represent me, a woman did finally approach me to let me know she was filling in). When I returned a consent to withdraw, since at this point my daughter will turn 18 shortly, I found out after requesting the return of my remaining retainer that I would not get it. The $150 is not by any means the issue. The issue is expensive yet poor service. I will add that the staff was friendly, just seemingly incompetent at times. This is not my first time hiring an attorney and this review is based not only on this experience but on comparison to prior experiences with other law firms as well.

With the opposing counsel responding seven days after the opposing counsel's self imposed written…read moredeadline had expired for this opposing counsel to respond back to me, I then won my civil case by default. But this means nothing out of court. It is a civil case. I next hired Attorney Edward Jordan. But I could never afford to pay him an enormous amount of money to fight my won civil case in any court. I could have lost my won civil case in court. I then would owe the opposing counsel a ton of money. As it turns out, neither opposing counsel or Attorney Jordan recognized my win! They do not have to. It is a civil case and they are attorneys. Apparently, in civil matters, out of court, self imposed written deadlines for the opposing counsel to respond back mean absolutely nothing. It is just a game only. Opposing counsel and Attorney Edward Jordan both ignored this expired deadline! They can legally do this because it is a civil matter. Legally, without my civil case being in court, these attorneys do not have to follow any written contract. Instead, Attorney Jordan took my case to make a ton of money for himself. In the end, out of court, in mediation, I again won my civil case. This time, I won with my agreed to compromise. I did almost all of the work! I sure learned that in civil matters, out of court, no law has to be followed by any attorney. It is voluntary.
