Got a quote sounded within reason (about $150 I think) and scheduled. Due to a snow storm we had to reschedule which is not their fault at all. The day the worker showed up I had it alll taped up where the mount should sit- where the studs were located. Realistically I could have done the job, but with investing in one of the first super high def, 85" TV in an apartment, I wanted the safety that it was professionally installed and if by some chance this tore out of the wall and destroyed a few thousand dollar TV- I wasn't on the hook. Guy showed up, never installed a mount before. Said he started with them only weeks ago and proceeded to sit on the floor reading the manual 3-4 times, taking all the bolts and screws out. Spent probably 3 hours prepping himself. Then he didn't have a tool he needed. We had to reschedule again. Second time, he was so nervous he called a buddy to help him (on his own dime) to make sure he was doing it correctly. we got the TV up and mounted (HEAVY) and he told me the bill was for about $500.00. The repairman couldn't have been nicer and he was brand new and didn't want to lose his job. I explained, I'm in no way upset with him, but for management to send out someone who never did this work before, underquoted me, and then place him in the position to do something he's uncomfortable with was unacceptable. I was on teh phone with i assume the manager for some time where he was basically telling me I was trying to skate out of the bill. We finally negotiated a price which I knew was going to be disputed right after the call. Happy to pay the quote, but not for someone to read instructions and burn 3 hours over 2 days trying to figure 1 TV mount. I gave the worker a good tip because it wasn't his fault and I truly felt bad for him as he was really trying hard to do it right. When I asked for a receipt from him, he said they never gave him any receipt book (Whole purose of the job) But I will NEVER use them again.
