So on Tuesday's, if you book a cut and colour, the colour is half price! Which is what I always do. And they also give you a loyalty card which does entice you to come back. I arrived and within a minute was checked in and told to sit in the waiting area. After a couple of minutes my hairdresser came over and discussed with me what I wanted done. As I was going for a cut and colour, she discussed with me what colour I wanted and how I wanted the cut, advising me on what would suit me and what wouldn't. She then mixed the dye up in the back and put it on. Whilst it was on she checked it and massaged it in when necessary and took it off at the right time before cutting and styling it. I was also offered and given tea and water (although there was other options available). The service is great and you really do leave feeling like you've been pampered!

She is also really lovely and the salon has a relaxed, friendly vibe. Stylish rather than trendy I would say, and not trying too hard to be cool like some others do. I took my sorry barnet in to several salons in Croydon, who either refused point-blank to even attempt anything, and told me to go away and grow it out, or wanted several hundred pounds to make it a colour I didn't want it to be because 'it would be easier'. Only Alex at Ice in Croydon was confident that he could put my hair back to an approximation of my natural colour. And he managed it, too, meaning that I have now sworn my undying (and un-dye-ing) devotion to him. Several of my friends go to Ice, too, and all are constantly delighted with the results for both colour and cut. What's more, it's fairly reasonable money, in the grand scheme of hairdressers. And, first time you go you get a voucher for 50% off for a friend, which in turn entitles you to 50% off next time you go, so if you get everyone in on the act you'll all be quids in.

I walked in very cautious because with a stylist who is a stranger, a lot can be misunderstood - plus, I have hair almost to my waist, and after encountering some stylists who seemed to feel like a few extra unasked inches off was not a big deal (wut), I am scared of new stylists... but no need for fear, here! Hiro is very attentive and listens very carefully, and clearly had no agenda but to apply his expertise to my direction. Hiro cut my hair dry so I could make adjustments as we saw the progress; he was very conservative at my request, and didn't complain in the least when I reconsidered my asks twice and wanted to cut even more to address the dry ends. It was clear I could trust him not to overdo it, which made me trust his judgement. After the main trim, he did a fantastic wash and head massage, used the dryer on only medium heat (which is so much better for your hair!) and did a little more touch-up trimming once my hair was fully blown out. I walked out feeling like a whole new person, and am super grateful to not have haggard hair for my last few days in London!

The lady who washed my hair was way too rough and i panicked about further thinning. I was charged £10 for conditoner after they stuck me under a dryer - pretty certain a 5 min conditioner would have done the job. About 10 mins was spent pressing and curling my thin hair (no product was added to add volume and ZERO thought again about what would help - I aksed if it would be moisturised and she said this would weigh my hair down - surely they have light mositurisers! When I went outside the wind blew the style out - good thing I had a hat. The only thing that was Ok was the £15 trim but Istill did a bit more on the ends when I got home. £55 badly spent.
