Jambalaya Arts Inc is an official 501c3 nonprofit Art Gallery and Community Art Space located in the heart of Downtown Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Founded in 2001, Jambalaya has been a steadfast fixture in the Oshkosh art scene for over 23 years. We do not jury artists into the gallery and anyone with original work is welcome to become a member. We offer several levels of membership starting at $0 for monthly dues. See our website for details on becoming a member. All of our board, people that plan our activities and keep the gallery open are volunteers. We have monthly featured artists and offer workshops, classes, music events, poetry readings, small play productions and from June-October on the 2nd Saturday of each month, have an artist market in the Algoma Art Alley behind the gallery. 2024 will be our 3rd year of our 13 hour Music and Art festival; Art in the Alley This event is completely free to the public and features 13 hours of live music on our stage in the Algoma Art Alley, Art demonstrations, a community piece for the public to paint on, several art vendors and a craft tent where you can make something for free to bring home. The date for the 2024 event is Saturday August 17th from 9am-10pm. History

Established in 2001.

Before it was a gallery, our building had many uses. Most notable is that the photographer Lewis W Hine was born in our building on September 26, 1874 . He was an American sociologist and muckraker photographer. His photographs were instrumental in bringing about the passage of the first child labor laws in the United States. The local historical society will be installing a plaque later in 2024. The building also housed a jewelry business and used to have pneumatic tubes running from the design studio on the top floor to the sales floor below. The old jewelry cases that lined the sides of our interior space make for great partitions for our many & varied artists. In 2008, the Johnny Depp film “Public Enemies” used Main Street in Oshkosh WI for many of the scenes centering around the bank heist. The facade of our building and surrounding businesses was altered for these scenes. Jambalaya Arts Inc was incorporated in 2014 and received our 501c3 nonprofit status in March of 2024
