When I turned up in the shop I also had my son in the pushchair. The guys behind the counter patienty explained what I would need, went to get it for me as I couldn't manoeuvre the pushchair round the narrow shelves and then showed me how to use it. Thy even fitted the grout ino the gun thingy for me. Now, that is hat I call service. The price is good, the service great and it's a bit like a DIY grotto, what more could you possibly want from a local shop.

By and large they were OK, although the service seemed to be a bit hit & miss: sometimes they were really quick and efficient at sorting out repair issues, other times things seemed to drag on and on. Their office staff were always great - really efficient, friendly and they knew their stuff. Julie who worked there was particularly on the ball - I'm not sure if she'd been there any longer than the rest of the staff, or if she was just really capable. Either way, if Julie was onto it then by and large you'd get your problem sorted. We never received many complaints about Butco - other than sometimes being slower off the mark than people would have liked, but that's just busyness for you, and you can't really blame a company for that!

DAMPCO undertook extensive work at my property on the recommendation of my builder. At first the…read morepipe taking water away from the property was sited so that it gushed out gallons of water several times an hour onto the pavement. It is a very busy street and I was legally liable for damage to persons or their property, eg. a woman passing by with a pram on her way to the school opposite the house. The builder finally got the owner of the company to come and view after missed appointments. He said the pipe should be re-routed and that was done. I paid the bill - around the £6,000 mark - immediately after completion of the job. However it then took 6 months for me to get a proper guarantee for the work. The reason this was important was that I had been told that the water pump needed servicing every 6 months and I wanted to ensure that I maintained the conditions of the guarantee. The builder thought that this was rather frequent so I made many phone calls and sent recorded delivery letter to ask about the need to service and the cost from DAMPCO. No reply ever. The company has refused to answer questions and has clearly not shown interest or consideration of customers or aftercare of their products. This is a company which, once it has your cash, you may as well forget about. Damp proofing is a long term and expensive piece of work to undertake so do not take any risks.
