Dr Oo is PCP for the adults and the small kids in our family -- she is thorough, attentive, and professional. Her team of nurses are great, too, especially with shots for the little ones. She's absolutely of the caliber you'd expect when going to PAMF for care, so I'd take these weird negative reviews with a grain of salt!

The problem is that my medicine has almost run out and I need to keep taking it to avoid serious side effects. With that understanding, the appointment was made. Yalamanchi had her mind made up without looking at any lab work or anything from the doctor I had most recently seen. (He was covered under my prior insurance, not my current plan.) Yalamanchi proceeded to do several diagnostics unrelated to her predisposed position. She seemed more interested in being free of me then she was in seeing my health improve on the path that it has been while since starting treatment. What happens if I stop taking the medication? What sorts of side effects might I incur? Yalamanchi doesn't even register such questions because to her, they don't matter. Her goal is to not treat me. It lacks conscientiousness. If I stop taking what I'm taking, I'll have some serious consequences to that, leaving me in a worse state than I was prior to starting my current course of treatment. My prescription was almost out, so I needed to address that issue right away. But with medication depleted, and an obstinate doctor, I was stuck with having wasted a lot of time, and nothing to show for it, so I need to again get another urgent referral to see yet another specialist elsewhere, urgently, and hope that that specialist doesn't behave like Yalamanchi. This was a massive waste of my time. It was a waste of my time to make the appointment in the first place, to get the referral, travel there, see her, do her irrelevant diagnostic tests, and travel home. Hours and hours of my time. When she came in the room, I had a sense that she did not want to treat me. None for diagnostic tests had anything to do with the bullshit reason that she provided for not treating me. That reason? Because of the FDA... If it's not allowed by the FDA, then why did my previous doctor prescribe it to me? Institutional medicine employs the most ineffectual, apathetic doctors.

My three little boys have a variety of allergies and are all subject to asthma/wheezing, so we've gotten to know Dr. Cummings over several years now... and I'm thankful that she is here to help us sort through the associated complex and stressful issues. She's got the experience and research knowledge to know what she's doing -- and during my interactions she's demonstrated both a friendly bedside manner and a balance between confidence and caution that I find reassuring. Of course with allergies as with lots of other ailments, doctors are still learning -- so even the experts can often not tell you the "right answer" for how to manage a particular allergy. And it's no fun bringing your little guys in to be poked and prodded each year for an allergy test, especially when (as on our last visit) my three year old's uncomfortable skin test got botched and had to be repeated. But as with most things, no pain, no gain. And since we are trying to do our very best to keep our little guys safe and comfortable over the long haul, we're going to keep coming to Dr. Cummings for the best advice we can get.

I've been told I'm allergic/sensitive to chemicals, and there's no known way to treat that. Dr Cummings was highly recommended to me, and I went to her as a last ditch effort. She took a look at all my previous testing, listened to me talking about my symptoms, and pinpointed my main (though not only) problem immediately - untreated silent reflux - and gave me a recommendation for her colleague, Dr Chan. She was right on the money. Dr Chan tested me, put me on meds, and I've never been better. Unlike other allergists I've gone to, Dr Cummings knows what can mimic allergy problems, and who to send you to. And I'm really grateful for that expertise, and her wonderful bedside manner.

A little over two years ago, just when I thought I was out of the woods, I was diagnosed with a stage 3 tumor on my left kidney. The surgery to remove the tumor and my left kidney happened pretty fast, and I needed infusion therapy after that surgery. My primary care physician arranged for me to see Dr. Colocci, and she has become a guardian angel since I first met her two years ago. I found her to be sincerely committed to my post-op care... someone who walked beside me as I faced the possibility of my cancer spreading to other organs. It became abundantly clear, she cares about her patients. I saw Dr. Colocci every six weeks while I received immunotherapy treatments. It was reassuring to hear say the treatments were working as advertised. After a couple of PET scans, she was confident that if any cancer appeared on subsequent scans, it could be eliminated quickly. After two additional scans showed nothing suspicious, as a result of Dr. Colocci's care, I am feeling confident that my kidney cancer now does not pose the threat I initially feared. I have one more PET scan scheduled this summer, then Dr. Colocci may be able to start annual monitoring of my condition. I am very happy with Dr. Colocci being my oncologist. She is super professional, and she has a friendly, easy-going manner. While visits with an oncologist can be stressful, I find meeting with Dr. Colocci is much like seeing a good friend... she makes any anxiety melt away. I trust her. Our rapport goes beyond looking over lab work and imaging results. We have similar tastes in music... and we often exchange the latest news about our families during my visits to her office. My experience with Dr. Colocci has been 100% positive. I can recommend her unequivocally to anyone who needs a caring oncologist.

He goes above and beyond to treat his patients and is the most caring doctor I have ever seen. I'm usually very uncomfortable with doctors but Dr. Jacoby makes me feel comfortable, genuinely cared for and un-judged when sharing. Words cannot explain how highly I recommend Dr. Jacoby and how grateful I am to have him in my life.

They do take insurance, but there additional fees. One is a concierge fee. They have a new 3D ultrasound, which isn't yet covered by insurance, so there was a charge for that as well. The fees don't bother me a bit. Everyone in the office is kind and thorough. It is a long appointment for a mammogram, but I get the mammogram and result in the same day. I actually sit down with Dr Jacob to review the images together. This is above and beyond my prior experiences of getting the mammogram one day, waiting for the radiologist to review, and getting informed of the result by mail or phone. The 3D ultrasound involved a lot of pressing, but is not painful like a mammogram can be. For people with dense breast tissue, it's an added tool to visualize something it can be hard to get a good picture of with mammogram alone. I highly recommend NCWIC. They have moved and are no longer on Welch Rd. They are on Park Blvd in Palo Alto now.

Then she sold the practice to Dr Jacobs and things started to change. It got harder to make appointments and there were "concierge fees" that were nothing but a way for her to make more money, since you didn't get any extra service for paying this. The fee started at $100, but this year went to $450!!! That's ridiculous--especially since Dr. Guthaner is now retired and she was the reason I was still going there. Worse yet, I called to let them know I had been potentially exposed to COVID so THEY cancelled my appointment for the next day. Couldn't reschedule for 2+ months (so much for all that great concierge service). But here's the kicker--they tried to charge me a $50 cancellation fee for not cancelling with enough notice. Huh? YOU cancelled on ME! Sorry that I couldn't time a COVID exposure to meet your schedule (turned out I was negative, but I was being overly cautious in letting them know about the exposure). Charging people for cancelling because of COVID exposure is not only unethical, it's stupid. Makes people not want to be forthcoming about things like this, which is wrong. That and the $450 put me over the edge and I said I'm done. My PCP recommended WRI in Menlo Park. What a difference! I was scheduled very quickly and I was in and out for my appointment in less than 40 minutes. Furthermore, everyone I met there was pleasant and helpful and acted like they were glad to see me--not the cold shoulder treatment I got from Jacobs practice, where the feeling was I should consider myself lucky to actually be able to be seen by them. The other thing is Dr Jacobs seems to be annoyed when she can't find cancer. I've never seen anything like it--it's almost like she's frustrated she can't find growths. The doctor at WRI had a very different attitude. She looked at my prior films, saw what the potential issues might be, checked to see nothing had changed, and came in with a smile on her face and told me things were good--come back in 6 months. Oh, and WRI told me they didn't know anyone but NCWIC who was charging mamo patients a "concierge fee." They thought it was ridiculous and would never do that.
