I only had five hours to do and stayed more than i should have. Some of the teachers are horrible, a lot of teachers have a problem with me using the bathroom everyday. Some with me I couldn't go at all and some caught an attitude and mumbled under there breathe, it's not illegal to need to use the restroom especially when you have a small bathroom like me. and most admin won't do a lot about things Mrs Matthew does and she doesn't play around!!

The school smells like a rancid rat decided to run through with a smoke bomb. The mens and womens bathrooms are always filled with people vaping. I personally have seen many people drunk in the men's restroom. There's a reason I use the gender neutral bathroom! On to the students!! Now obviously not everyone is going to get along with everyone. How ever, I have never seen more carbon copies of the same barbie doll than I have in the halls of Lucy Garrett Beckham.... The lack of respect for teachers and students alike is saddening. The teachers have to parent students on simple issues that shouldn't have been a problem in the first place. We have had a kid jerk off in the bathroom, a child threaten to shoot the school, and minor assault a police officer. And yet the school admin has the audacity to claim that we are doing great. ON TO THE ACADEMICS!! Alrighty, the school tends to push for the students to engage in classes that will render useless to them in the work force!! The staff does not care about what interests you or what you want to study. Only about what classes you need to have to make their school look good in the eyes of the school board. The admin creates bogus rules that no one follows (not even the teachers) because everyone understands how idiotic they are. Now listen there are some pretty great things about this school. For example: "One Lunch", allowing for everyone to have lunch at the same time allows for students to keep their friendships and receive help form teachers. Another great thing are most of the teachers. For the most part they all seem to genuinely care and want you learn and grow as a person. Overall, the teachers? Amazing. The school? Sucky (to say the least). And finally The Students? Disgusting. They are like bugs. If only bugs could look in the mirror and gaslight themselves into believing they had an OUNCE of personality Most days I am embarrassed to call myself a Lucy Beckham "Bengal".

During Covid a lot of kids got into the school (it's lottery admission) that probably didn't need to be there. And some parents don't understand that the school is designed for smarter kids, it won't make them smart. The new Board of Directors and administrators are working hard in helping students find the right schools personal scenarios because this school isn't the right fit for everyone. Unfortunately as a public school, they can't arbitrarily dismiss students like a private can. But if students make good choices and apply themselves, this school offers all they could ever need. Every year there are a few graduate with associates from either CofC or Trident.

Large parking lot for cars, with school buses off to the side of the large lot off of Main Road on Johns Island. Nice looking gym, which is well maintained and in good condition. It is in the gym that we vote, after waiting in line as always, but that is not the fault of the high school or the staff. Wish that my high school had been this good a campus, but it was in the upper part of downtown Charleston and was almost 30 years old when I attended it and, yes, it is still a school but now is a middle school.
