Jessica does a fantastic job on my hair. She does a full foil/blonde highlights and 22 inch hair extensions along with k-tips and a few tape ins. She is a pro at blending the color and extensions and it looks and feels so natural and soft. She is very personable and nice along with knowledgeable. Love this place! Jill did a fabulous job! The salon is pristine, and the folks there are friendly and efficient.

This salon is overpriced and not kind. I was charged close to $600.00 for simple highlights and toner. The stylist did not listen to what I wanted so I had to return for additional highlights. To my surprise, I was then charged again for a whole highlight, toner, etc. It had only been a few days. They blamed me although I showed pictures and explained what I wanted. They do not treat their clients well and clearly look to overcharge. Save your money and time, go elsewhere. I'm sure your hair will come out nicer elsewhere as well:) I hope I help someone with this review and save them from major disappointment. read more

After thé consult appointment I felt I had described the updo I wanted as mother of the bride. On thé following week's wedding day appointment I also brought a photo of how I had my hair for my sons wedding. My hair which is blonde was a mess of ends sticking out and black Bobbie pins. I can't recommend Jess Riccio enough! I moved to DC five years ago, and tried four or five stylists before deciding none of them could compare. Now I schedule my haircuts around my trips back to the northeast. She takes the time to listen and also advise. She is meticulous and clearly takes pride in her work. I've never had a bad haircut from Jess - and I've never had a better haircut from anyone else. She's cut my hair when it's long and chopped it down into a short little bob. She's totally versatile, super talented and also a wonderful person. You should book with her. Really. You won't be disappointed. read more

The new James Joseph Salon at Marketstreet in Lynnfield is finally open! Though I've been faithfully travelling to the Medford location for years to get my super-pro haircut from Mayumi - she moved to the new location and I followed suit like a baby bird. The new space is huge and open. Great modern decor and all around a pretty space. Hair styling chairs line up in bays along one wall and there are a handful of hair-washing sinks in the back corner. I like that everything is open and airy. The sinks are equipped with very fancy reclining massage chairs -- while I was a little freaked out at first (was I breaking the chair??) the reclined massage that came along with my hair wash was very welcomed. As always I got the best haircut from Mayumi...She gets me. And the rest of the staff was super nice and friendly, as expected. Love that this space is so close to so many great restaurants, shops and a Whole Foods. I can run all the errands I want and need before or after my salon visit -- which makes my life all the more efficient! read more

Yesterday morning I had an appointment for a hair coloring at James Joseph in Lynnfield on Market St for 11:00AM and as I was about to go out the door at 10 :35 for my appointment I received a phone call from them that they were cancelling my appointment because she had to do something with her daughter. I was not offered to come in anyway and have someone do my hair as they said there was nobody. I feel this was not ok to do to a customer at the last minute especially since I was getting my hair done for a 4:00 PM Bridal Shower. I was LIVERED to think they stiffed me at the VERY LAST MINUTE. I would like to know what kind of customer service this is. I am one of their customers so it's not like I was new to them. I get that establishments are short of help at this time but leaving a customer with a 25 minute cancel notice is so bad. Please know that if your getting your hair done for an occasion you may get left standing in the cold at the very very last minute by this place.. I also know of someone who was double charged on their charge card by this establishment and had a very hard time getting it corrected. Be cautious with this establishment please. Went into this salon with INCREDIBLY damaged and very long, dark, black hair that I box colored numerous times. The people there were immediately SO friendly and cool and my stylist, Denise made me feel so comfortable right away. Her hilarious and down to earth, yet classy and highly customer service oriented personality, coupled with her stellar skills and caliber of talent so high, make her a precious GEM to this industry!! Went to see a "stylist" for a wash, cut, and style. The wash was the best thing--nice massage, friendly chat. The cut was okay--really just a trim job. I had to ask for more layers, which she did and it looks fine. The "style".... I don't consider myself great at hair, but I could have styled my hair much better if she had just given me the blow-dryer and a brush. I told her my hair was fine, so product really helped give it volume, and I had to ask several times to get more put in. She dried my hair and spritzed in some product, and that was it. No effort at all to frame my face. No volume. I might as well air dried. Nice, friendly staff and decent hair cut (for just a trim and some layers), which is why I gave 2 stars instead of none. But don't waste your money here for cuts/style. Better to go to supercuts, and then head to a drybar/blow out bar for style. You'd save your $ and look better. I can't speak to any of their coloring services, but I won't be back to try them out. read more

Went for a blowout and the senior stylist used products that made 5 extentions slip out of my head during the blowout, for anyone that's not familiar with extentions that's $100 worth of hair. Daniela did retape them in which I was grateful for, however she didn't put them where the came from and so high in my head you can now see the bonds when I put them into a ponytail. I told her what my hair was not able to use because of extention rules. Will not be returning. Left midway through appt when hair was dry enough even with a lot of damp patches. Waste of $60. read more

Finding a stylist is challenging. Having gone to this studio in Back Bay, I assumed this would be a similar experienced. Unfortunately it was not. The stylist I had was clearly over booked leaving me to sit with foils for close to 1 hour. When time to rinse I was left with my head in the sink for another 20 minutes. Ultimately, my hair was left to process too long and now has blue/grey streaks running through it. When it came time for the cut, I showed her pictures. What I walked out with was not even close. I have an unattractive bob with no texture. The final straw was the price. $300 for over processed hair with a horrible cut. Completely disappointed and won't be back. read more

Danielle is the best with my hair! She always cuts my hair exactly how I explain it and finishes with a gorgeous blowdry. My hair always turns out beautifully. The shampoo sinks are the most comfortable I've ever experienced at a salon. The seats raise up to make you more comfortable while getting your hair washed, and they also give you a massage! Janelle gives the best shampoo with the most relaxing head massage that makes you never want to get up! I also love the products they use here, they leave my hair so soft and smooth. I found this place in a panic after my hair was butchered at another salon and could not be happier! My appointment was with Melissa who worked a miracle with the disaster I came in with. Not only was she able to fix the color but was able to give me an awesome cut without losing too much length. She gave me her honest input on what would be best for remedying the situation which I think is an invaluable quality in a hairdresser.
