Flight was delayed 2 hrs. but my realtor was in communication with Kim and we were still scheduled to see a particular home that was listed as ACTIVE. We finally arrive and we can't open the lockbox. After back and forth texts with my realtor Kim tells her that the house went under contract 10 min. earlier. Not only that, there were 5 other offers on the home so clearly they should not have been wasting people's time with showings if they had multiple buyers. We rushed to get there, and let's be clear, there's a lot driving involved when looking in Barrington. Not only did she NOT come out of the gate to apologize, but she doubled down, even stating the clients wanted to still entertain offers. Here's the deal, unless your clients are also realtors then YOU are the professional (though she was anything but that) and it's your responsibility to educate them that it would be irresponsible to have people continue to schedule visits to a house they have no chance of owning. This particular property is stunning when you first arrive so there's an emotional reaction immediately have as well. As a buyer you already start to picture yourself there. You have zero clue that not only are they going under contract but there are backup offers and you haven't a chance. Now, if Kim wanted to disclose any of this and we still wanted to see the property then that's OUR decision, but she made it for us. SO UNprofessional. And, as we continue our home search IF I happen to see that Kim is the listing agent I will look elsewhere. She needs a refresher in ethics.
