A lovely mix of high quality food, without the snobbish attitude. The restaurant is stepped so all tables have a good view of the beach, and evening sunset. The staff are pleasant, with an informal attitude. Food was great on the ever changing tasting menu. I tried a couple of experimental choices and was not disappointed. Jamie Oliver is not only a great chef, he is also a great humanitarian. Jamie's Fifteen project is the great example. It was such an amazing opportunity for me to have dined in here during my visit in Cornwall area with my friend's family. The restaurant is in great location overlooking the ocean at Watergate Bay just a bit up north from New Quay. The restaurant inside is very airy, open, simple but modern looking. We all opted for the tasting menu. Everything was excellent from the start to finish .. appetizer, salad, small plate, main course, and dessert. The service was also excellent. The coffee (in my case hot tea) was served after meal as well. The tasting menu is pretty pricey but well worth it. If you are ever in the Cornwall area, this is one of the places that shouldnt be missed! read more

Fifteen was a bit of a disappointment, particularly after reading the stellar reviews online. Fifteen is no different than the countless hipster restaurants following the locavore trend that has infiltrated London, New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. I can certainly say I have had much better meals over the years. Sure, the food was well prepared, well presented, and well meaning, but three days later I couldn't even recall what I had ordered without serious contemplation. The menu changes frequently, so I will resist going through each course. Highlights from the meal included the fiori di zucchini fritti, which was quite pleasant, and the creamy burrata, which was nicely salted. Dessert was a chocolate cake that was probably too rich for most people's preferences, but a wonderful way to finish the meal. The decor at the restaurant was nothing spectacular - there are dozens of restaurants with similar style, although they may be missing large photographs of the staff wielding fish or stirring pudding. Don't expect to see Jamie Oliver prancing around the kitchen either - the newsletter on the back of our menus said quite clearly "Jamie is never hands on" though apparently he was kind enough to grace the restaurant with his presence for an hour during a recent event. We booked a reservation nearly six months in advance, which seems ridiculous now that I've dined there and found it to be more hype than substance. If you're looking for a delicious, over-priced meal in Cornwall and haven't managed to book a table at Fifteen, I would suggest The Harbour in Port Isaac. And if you're simply looking for great food without the extraordinary price tag, I recommend The Castle Restaurant in Bude. read more

Beautiful setting, lovely drinks and wonderful food! Our holiday party thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We sampled the bread, olives and salt hake with brilliant pickled carrots. My husband had the monkfish special, several of us had gnocchi and one of our party enjoyed the lamb. We tried three desserts - all were nice but the rhubarb (fresh) was outstanding. The sommelier, Damon, was very knowledgeable and fun offering us several samples and tempting our daughter with an unusual selection. Our waiter, Sam, was very attentive. I have been coming here every year since it opened 10 years ago. The restaurant is gorgeous -wonderful view over the beach and fabulous decor inside. For the first couple of years the food and service was second to none. Fine dining in a relaxed busy atmosphere. Sadly on the last two occasions, the service has still been good, as has the quality of ingredients, but the portions have become larger and presentation less 'fine'. It's become slightly more 'gastro pub'. It's an expensive gastro pub and that's not really why you would go there. I still give it 4 stars for what it has been in the recent past, it's service, setting and decor and I think if you have never been there then you should at least once:) read more

Good food, good service, beautiful view, just lacking a special atmosphere for that fifth star. We enjoyed the 5 course dinner tasting menu at Fifteen. The view is lovely with most 2 person table seating on a lower ledge by the windows with views and the larger tables elevated behind them (also with views). Really enjoyed having lunch at Fifteen. The staff is friendly and professional. We were not intending to stop for lunch in Newquay and hence did not have a reservation but they managed to find us a table for an hour and a half slot. The view on the beach is absolutely stunning, even on a heavy rainy day like when we were there. Ffood is delicious, perfectly seasoned, and very flavoursome. The music is not too loud which a must. The best olives I have ever had. The second best bloody mary (here's looking at you, Zeitgeist Bar in San Francisco). The best (and, to date, only) squid-ink cuttlefish. The best... um, I was a little tipsy by the second half of the meal so I can't recall exactly. But it was all incredible. Make sure you get there before the sun goes down: while it's still light out, the restaurant has a stunning view of the waves rolling into Watergate Bay. Bonus points for the comfortable swivel-chairs at the dinner table. But beware: after a cup of very good coffee at the end of the meal, you (read: I) may do (read: did) do a whole lot of caffeine-induced fidgety swivelling while waiting for the (sigh... HUGE) bill. Pricey, but really absolutely worth it. One of the loveliest dining experiences I've ever had. read more

It was a long way to go for dinner but the things you do to a) see your part-time daughter when she's at university in Devon and b) to get a decent meal. But it was worth it. She and I had an amazing tasting menu of delights. We could care less that the dining room was quiet (it was off-season) because it meant we got great service and amazingly cooked food. The local produce, ranging from vegetables and cheeses were out of this world. I had never liked the idea of beetroot as a child (I think it was the colour and being oriental, unfamiliarity of it) but they gave us a (ironically) Chinese soup spoon of diced beets with some locally sourced Stilton crumbled on the top as part of a starter - BOOM - OUT OF THIS WORLD! And the food just kept getting better and better as each course emerged. It was all about quality over quantity, from the blue cheese and wild mushroom crespelle for me to the sea bass with borlotti beans and purple sprouting brocolli for her. Cleverly they have an option which matches wines to the dishes, but we had forgo this as we were both taking it in turns to drive back to daughter's dorm in Plymouth and then me back to London. Next time. The bill was a hefty £50 a head, plus drinks, plus easily £150 of fuel that day. Was it worth all that money and distance? You betcha! What can I say? There are no superlatives that won't be fitting for this absoluteley special place. The setting at the bay: unique. The service: kindest, nicest, best organized, considerate I ever experienced. The concept: most intelligent, social, supportable. The food and beverages: over the top. The atmosphere: astonishing. The interieur: eye-catching, loveley, beautiful. We booked a table online before leaving from Germany and had the best and most impressive dinner ever. Decided to visit here after taking a drive on a Saturday. Booked in for last lunch sitting at 2.30 for two of us. I had the spaghetti carbonara which was pretty good I thought a little salty. Great view of Watergate Bay, really attentive staff, however carpet was a bit run down and messy. My partners mackerel entree was very oily but his fish main with lentils was delicious. Overall thought it was pretty pricey for quite standard food. Great location though. read more

Stunning setting overlooking Watergate Bay. Went there mid week as they were doing an offer on a seasonal 3 course lunch and it was totally worth it. Not sure I could afford it without an offer. Trendy decor which I have to admit I loved. Very light and modern and makes the most of the location. There are weekly farmers markets in the car park as well I believe, organised by 15. Firstly, apologies for the map location, it is a bit out but cannot see how to alter it. I will try later. As for the restaurant - went there just before christmas on a works do. i appreciate that it was very busy but we spent over three hours in total on four courses. i have to say, I thought the service dreadfully slow. there were people around me saying this is all part of the Fifteen experience. Myself, i thought it was sloppy. And expensive. And undercooked. I know it is very fashionable for places to undercook all meat. However, my main course of lamb and some other goo was still bleating. I did not think you could undercook lamb. i asked for it to be taken away and cooked, please. It was returned five minutes later, the whole plate just being put in microwave and so everything was red hot. The lamb, I have to say, was delicious. it was the same cut you would find in shish kebab, so was succulent. the veg was an indetermable mush of stuff that was just edible. the soup was weird, being like a sauce. the best bit (apart from the properly cooked lamb) was the tirimasou. Perhaps I was at a disadvantage as i cannot eat seafood and could not read Italian, so most of the menu was either indecipherable or inedible. All in all - Nouvelle Cuisine - not really for me. The worst thing was that the whole experience left me angry and confused. I had eaten (probably not very much) over such a long period of time that I did not know whether I was hungry or not. This made me confused. The fact that after leaving the restaurant, I passed a McDonald's a few minutes later made me angry as if I knew I was hungry, i could have had a better and cheaper meal there. This is a tough one. The setting is 5+ stars. The restaurant has a nice vibe, albeit busy, and noisy, but not in a bad way. They have an interesting concept, with chef apprentices wearing white hats and the professional chefs, black, all working in the kitchen on full display to customers. We had a couple of mix ups on the drink order and also my wife ended up sending her meal back. The manager was very attentive and did everything he could to resolve the issues. So why the 3 stars? Unfortunately, it's the food. It is just average, nothing special. 3 of us had the prefix with the ribeye entree. The consensus was that our own BBQ the night before was much better. My wife, the lone dissenter had pasta and it was an overly buttery mess (and this was her "replacement meal" from her initial order). Go there for the setting and the experience, but don't expect to be dazzled by the meal. read more

Been a while since I ate here (2010) but it's one that stuck in my mind. It was so much better than it needed to be, and the lunch menu so much more reasonably priced than I was bracing for. Certainly a lot better than some of the other places carrying Jamie's name too. Very friendly to the young children we took, food was excellent, service extremely good too. Given the name and especially the location (not to mention the view), the cynic in me thinks that they barely need to try - but they really did, and left me pretty surprised. Of course, it could all have ended differently if we'd gone off piste on the menu, or had a different server. Based on this one experience back in 2010 I'd give them another try despite my disappointment with other 'Jamie's' establishments. read more

I went here for my 21st birthday with my family and girlfriend it was one of the best dining experience I have had. The food was all home made and hand peraired. The view of Watergate was stunning. I have to give this place it's third 5 star review. Has to be done. Every time I'm in England we go to Cornwall. Why? Because it kicks major ass in many ways, it is breathtakingly beautiful, the food is amazing, and my guy knows I love it there. But really, one of the main reasons is for this place. I won't go into the menu again as it is an ever changing menu and if you've read my other reviews on it you will know the food is EXCELLENT, the service SUPERB, and the atmosphere AWESOME. What is different about this visit is that we chose to do the wine pairing with this tasting menu and it was PHENOMENAL. A delicious full glass of wine is served with every course from the amuse bouche to dessert accompanied by a very knowledgeable sommelier explaining the wine and the region it comes from. It was well worth the price and such an amazing experience. I recommend doing this to anyone dining here. read more
