I've been reluctant to try Jamie's Italian for years, having been warned of the small portions, overpriced menu and so on. So when, as a kind of late night last resort, we ended up in Jamie's, I was actually pleasantly surprised.
Despite arriving at 10 o'clock at night, we were greeted warmly by the staff, and seated in the modern but invited restaurant. The extensive menu has lots of variety, and the drink prices were reasonable enough for central London.
We'd had canapes at the event we had visited, so decided to order four starters to graze on. They arrived promptly and were beautifully presented; baked mushrooms, crab and avocado bruschetta, grilled prawns and something else that slipped my half tipsy brain! Nevertheless, it was just the right amount of food for the two of us, and each dish was brimming with flavour.
I'd be interested in returning for a full meal to see how their mains level up, but as a first experience this was nice. read more
