Jammin'jersey, is the largest Public Storage unit I've ever been inside of. Yes, storage unit is exactly what this place IS.
You've never been to Jammin'jersey ??
Have you ever seen one of those reality shows about storage unit auctions?
Where the unit appears to be a disorganized rats nest?
Yes?
Then, you have seen the inside of Jammin'jersey, without getting dirty and without the need to deal with it's halfwits.
The only place more unpleasant than Jammin'jersey to check out a musical instrument, is that shit-hole pawn shop, Traders Loan and Jewelry on the corner of Sherman Way and Reseda. Actually, now that I think about, I think Traders may be in a multi-tie with a few other pawn shops.
Anyway, back to Jammin' jockstrap. There is no online picture of any specific item, nor is their online list anywhere near a complete list of the garage sale junk they have. I'll guess it covers 10-15%. The closest thing they have to knowing (that is if they still have it) is a beat-up, 2-ring or 3-ring binder that has no item pictures, but does offer the shortest, total lack of description....description.
Example: If you look at the ingredients on the side of a can of Coke, you'll see quite a few ingredients. Maybe 15-20 items or more.
If you read the Jammin'jersey can of cola equivalent, it would read, "cola."
This helps no customer.
So, I look through their entire beat-up binder and see only one thing interesting. They've got a Guild electric from the early 1980's. This one was "allegedly" owned and used by the singer Steve Plunkett in the 1984 video, "Turn up the radio" by Autograph. And, I think the price was $800 or $900. I tell the counter guy I'd like to see this and play it. Simple enough, right?
Nope.
I'm told, "The guitar is "buried" against the bottom part of the back wall behind ALL of those amps and cabinets. Do you want to buy it?" I said, "I don't know, I would have to play it first. Would you pay $800-$900 for a guitar without playing it, especially when it CAN be played first??" The guy looked at my like I had lobsters coming outta my ears. Then he says, "Well, it'll take a half-hour to an hour to move everything outta the way to get to it, and you would have to make an appointment with the owner first." I asked how the store came up with that price. A price figure which is ridicules to begin with. He says, "Well, the owner says it's a rare guitar, it's old, and because it's in a video."
I'll tell you why the guitar is worth maybe $300-$400 at best, and that's if it's in MINT condition, which you know damn well it won't be after being buried by heavy garbage and junk indefinitely, and likely unprotected, in a storage unit.
1.Guild briefly made solid-bodied, rock style guitars then stopped. Why?
Because no one bought them.
2.Guild was not a "rock guitar" company.
3. Guild solid-body electrics were not very playable.
4. Kahler bridges never were, nor will they ever be as good, versatile or fun as a Floyd.
5. As good of a band as they were, and they were a good band, practically NO ONE KNOWS or REMEMBERS who Autograph was let alone who the hell Steve Plunkett is/was. So that, "Oooh it was in a video!!" means absolutely nothing to practically everyone.
I would be very surprised if he ever sold that Guild for his crazy price. Of course, I wouldn't believe anyone telling me this without a clearly printed-out receipt.
Jammin'jersey IS NOT customer friendly, unknowledgeable employees, selling crap no one will buy which is why stuff you may remember seeing 15 years ago is STILL THERE! If it's not, they placed it inside their organizational garbage can out back.
Ya know, they've got t.v. shows about people identical to this store's owner. The people who are exactly like this store owner are called, "hoarders." People who don't have enough sense to know what actual junk is and to properly throw it out. I'll bet inside this guy's home he has stacks of daily news papers from every year dating back to 1963.
If one day I wanted to go to a guitar store and every other guitar store was closed except for this one, I would rather go into dumpsters to look for old bicycle parts.
