Truetone is back and better than ever! This new location on broadway is a labyrinth of guitar and bass goodness where you could get lost for hours in their meticulously curated inventory. Meter parking is available in front of the store, the door is locked so you need to ring for entry. You will then be greeted by some of the most passionate music lovers you will ever meet... and these guys know their stuff! I would classify this place as "boutique" or "high end" but that wouldn't do justice to the fact that they have really got some tremendous deals here, while they for sure will be able to satisfy those looking for a high-end instrument, they also have some great deals on quality guitars. It is great that they cover so many bases with their inventory. And pedals? Fuggetaboudit. I have never seen so many pedals in one place! An outstanding collection full of big manufacturers like Boss and JHS, but also a lot of boutique offerings as well, like Beetronics and Way Huge. And they aren't all wired together like other stores, if you want to try just one pedal, they let you do that! No figuring out someone else's signal chain. Individual practice rooms (with doors) so no one has to suffer through your rendition of "Enter Sandman"... this place is a guitar player's dream come true! Highly recommended!

We came in to the shop looking for a whole range of different guitars and equipment, as a couple of relative newbies with minimal baseline knowledge. The staff took amazing care of us, were super patient with our deluge of probably mostly ridiculous questions. Both my wife and I ended up leaving the shop with new guitars that day, and everything was beautifully set up and ready to go. The shop was extremely kind to throw in a couple of little extra bits and pieces like picks and replacement strings to make sure that we were truly ready to enjoy our new gear. I can't recall the last time I encountered such incredible service in any retail environment. We will absolutely be coming back here for our future guitar needs, we are diehard truetone fans.

This company delivered and guitar was exactly as they described. Absolutely beautiful D18. First time to do business with them and checked their positive reviews and decided to make the purchase. Experience Customer Service and FAST FAST Shipping - could not have gone any smoother. BD

At midlife, some of us get really into cars, motorcycles, carpentry... I've gotten really into guitars. Buying, trading, selling, and occasionally hot rodding them. Truetone has supported me in each one of these endevors. They didn't make me feel like an idiot for wanting to route a 1993 MIM Fender Stratocaster for a humbucker in the bridge like another shop did, and did the route and installed the humbucker beautifully. The other shop literally laughed in my face and refused to refer any other shop that might do routings. Truetone has amazing technicians working there who are cheerful and very knowledgable. They saved me from getting scammed by a guitar builder who sold me a Billy Bo barn guitar on Etsy that was unplayable due to the neck angle in the body. When I took it to be repaired they stated the issues and I was able to get a refund from Etsy after the seller had been completely resistant to fixing the issue himself or issuing a refund. Truetone is a place where you can try any piece of equipment and get excellent deals on excellent instruments. Reverb is cool, and Truetone is live and in person without the diceroll on what you're actually getting. Please support your local guitar store, and if you're in West LA, Truetone has your back!

This review is specifically about an acoustic guitar setup in the service department…read more I paid $95 for the setup service. I am dissappointed in the results and would not recommend their repair or setup services. The final results show a lack of quality control. I love the vibe of McCabe's and the 'grab and play anything you want' attitude which is rare at guitar stores these days. The staff have always been welcoming and don't hover or bother you unless you have a question. I even saw what appeared to a homeless person come in and ask to use the bathroom and the staff was kind and treated the person with respect and care. I've been a long time visitor, and needed a setup done on an acoustic guitar so I thought I'd bring it in and give them some business. Because the store is about a 30-45 minute drive for me, I asked if they could do it while I waited around the neighborhood and they said they were backed up and likely wouldn't get to it that day. I said ok and left it there and they called me about 2 hours later to say it was done and ready to get picked up, so I completely could have just waited for it. I wasn't able to make it back to the store for a few days (because it's a long drive), and when I picked up the guitar I was in a hurry and didn't spend a lot of time checking it out in the store. I pulled it out for a quick few strums to make sure the high action near the body was fixed, and it was, so I packed up the guitar and brought it home. Lesson learned - spend time at the store/shop when you are picking up your guitar. Spend more time than you think you should, better to find any issues at the shop before you get home. When I got home and saw the guitar in better lighting, I noticed there were a bunch of areas where there was some wax or polish that was obviously not buffed out. So the first thing I did was to spend about 5 minutes going over the whole guitar with a soft cloth to try and buff out all of the polish. Not a big deal, but obviously nobody at the store did any final check of the guitar, or if they did they would have seen this and just didn't care to do anything about it - just felt like poor quality control and lack of care. (Also - this is a matte finish guitar, so I'm not sure you're supposed to put polish on it at all..?) Then once I finished buffing out all of the leftover wax/polish, I tuned it and up and immediately discovered that both the A and the G string were buzzing while being played open. So I ended up spending another 10-15 minutes doing a truss rod adjustment to get the guitar into playable condition. Another indication that nobody bothered to check or play the guitar after the tech put it back together, or they would have clearly heard the buzzing strings. Or they just didn't care enough to fix it. For $95 I would expect the guitar to be able to come out of the case and look and play well without me having to do any additional work. I'm sad to have had this experience with a store a I have really grown to appreciate and enjoy.

This is a review for the camp only. Some things to know if you put your child in their camp. I…read moredon't usually like to post negative reviews but I do want other parents to know about the following things so they can be aware. 1) On their camp advertisements they mention instruction in many different instruments. What isn't specified is that they only have a couple different instruments to learn on if your child does not own that instrument themselves. So unless your kid has their own Oboe, Cello, Flute etc they can't get lessons. I think they have guitar and violin on hand. Thus, i would not recommend this place for a summer intro to an instrument unless you own said instrument or you double check they have your instrument ahead of time. They will say it's on the paperwork the child needs to bring their own instrument but they don't send you that paperwork until the night before camp starts. 2) They watch a movie every single day. I don't think any parent wants their kid watching tv every day at a camp they pay good money for. Why not have other activities for the kids for breaks from music? Maybe Let them run around in the park longer, or play some games, or talk amongst themselves and make a friend. Another note about the movie watching -- they show the kids PG13 movies. And if your kid isn't allowed to watch PG13 movies they will sit your chilld with the much younger children and watch a disney movie or cartoon. This is not great for those kids 7-11 whose parents may not want their kids watching PG13 movies but also don't want their kid to feel humiliated watching cartoons with much younger kids and not being around their peers in their age group. When my child was there, there were no kids ages 13 and up so it was baffling to me that they were catering to the kids whose parents allowed their young children to watch PG-13 movies.

She is patient, kind and helping my son make the ever important first step, a sound! The school music program is great but with so many children my son needs extra one-on-one instruction and this business fits the bill. Looking into the musical theater next ... to be continued!
