KoffieTentje is a very cute, small and stylish coffee bar. There's a very calm and laid back atmosphere making it perfect to sit in and unwind while enjoying your coffee (and perhaps a piece of brownie? Trust me, their brownies are amazing.) While ordering my coffee, I've chatted with the owner a few times and to simply put it, she's incredibly nice and welcoming. She doesn't mind having a little chat and seems genuinely interested. So if you're looking for great coffee, either for sitting in or taking it with you on your trip to work or university - KoffieTentje is the right choice!

Though I'd never say that Dutch coffee is bad, I'd maybe say that sometimes it can lack a full flavour. So to say that in the first month since opening I've darkened KoffieTenTje's door nearly a dozen times, I'm very impressed with their coffee. The interior is friendly, earthly and modern, and the music is always good (a mix of chilled electronica and folk). The vibe very much reminds me of a less busy Five Elephants (Berlin-based coffee heaven). Lastly I have to say something about the woman who owns it; basically she's lovely. Welcoming, happy, remembers you and your order. I've chatted with her a few times, sometimes in Dutch, more often in English and she's always chatty. In short; great coffee, great atmosphere, great owner.

Nobody knows ramen like I know ramen. I've had ramen all over the world -- the best ramen,…read moreincredible ramen -- and I will tell you, Tensai in Eindhoven is something special. People are saying it. Smart people. The tonkotsu broth. Creamy. Incredibly creamy. Maybe the creamiest broth I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of broths, believe me. Other ramen places? Weak broth. Sad broth. Not Tensai. Tensai's broth is STRONG. The pork belly was so tender -- so unbelievably tender -- that the fake news media would never even report on it. They'd say "oh it wasn't that tender." It was that tender. It was more tender than they said it could be. Experts said you couldn't get pork belly that tender. Wrong. And the karaage chicken -- and this is what everyone's talking about, frankly -- crunchy, spicy, tremendous. One of the great pieces of chicken in the history of fried chicken, maybe ever. Japan has great chicken but this? This is next level. People come up to me, big strong men, tears in their eyes, they say "sir, that karaage changed my life." Five stars. Possibly the greatest restaurant in the Netherlands. Maybe Europe. We'll see what happens.

I got the one recommended by my waiter, the creamy veggie miso Ramen, and the lower right corner of the menu. This one is not spicy. Next time I come, I will try one of the spicy ones. I got the lychee soda, which is a little too subtle for my taste, but I find that it grows on you. They also have Kirin on draft as well as bottles of Heineken and a 0% Heineken. And of course they have green tea as well as the usual stuff. Ok, the food: these are freshly-made japanese noodles. That means there's a wait for your food, and in my experience, it was substantial. Don't come here if you're in a hurry. This experience may be a one-off, as the waiter apologized for the wait and brought me a free refill of the lychee soda. The noodles were fine, a substantial meal with lots of vegetables in the soup. I added some soy sauce as it was pretty bland. Next time I would ask for some of their black garlic oil. I would come back, if only to try the spicy dish (they describe the spicy sauce as "numbing"!), but I think this place would be great for meat eaters.
