I booked an appointment for 9am on a Saturday morning for a blow dry as I was attending a wedding…read more I arrived at the salon just before 9am to be greeted by a customer wearing a gown and wet hair telling me someone would be out shortly. A few moments later a lady (I assume one of the stylists) came to the reception desk to tell me my stylist had cancelled and they wouldn't be able to do my hair. I asked why she didn't contact me only to be told "well she only rang in this morning so I didn't think it was worth ringing you." I explained that I was due to attend a wedding and had little time to start ready only to have the stylist shrug and stare at me until I left. No apology or suggestions of an alternative salon or stylist. I hope this member of staff isn't reflective of the salon as a whole however I won't be risking finding out. Unprofessional and unhelpful.

Second, I want to say that if we could give half stars Toni & Guy would actually get a 4.5 from me. So, I had been putting off getting my hair cut for a very long time. Like over a year long. Walking by Toni & Guy today I decided it was time. I made an appointment for the same day and had a 5-minute consult with a stylist when I first came in. Came back a few hours later for my appointment. For the record, Joanne is a really great stylist. I have very difficult hair: thick, long, very wavy and just fussy. She managed it with no problems. She listened to what I wanted and my cut turned out even better than I had hoped (which never happens with my hair). On the down side it was a fairly spendy cut (36 quid plus tip), but Im a firm believer that a good haircut is like a good pair of jeans: well worth it.

I've been to Saks a few times when my normal hairdresser is booked, and everytime I come away…read morehappy. They are fairly expensive, but they are very good at what they do. The stylists are good at recommending styles and colours which complement my face. I've not had a bad experience yet.

This is a small barbers at the bottom of North Road. Excellent value at only about $10 (less for…read morestudents). The staff are always friendly and talkative. Quality of the cuts is good as well with the staff often willing to offer advise.
