New to the area, first time stopping in.. First thing I noticed was all the cool memorabilia on the walls...2nd thing, was the lady cutting hair, Jan, she greeted me , said it would be about 10 minutes. Jan was spot on with the time, very friendly...sprayed, disinfected the chair before I sat down and she went to work. I have to jump forward and then come back....the conversation and Jan's personality are enough to make me want to come back... ok, back to real time...we talked, some current events, some work stuff, some just...chatting.. anyway... she did a phenomenal job, Jan is regular folk... not pretentious, not bored.. she likes her job and she likes people... she is VERY good at her job... this is a great place, normally I wanna be in and out... today... Terrible experience. She was very rough with my 4 year old who was sitting very still for her. She ended up cutting his neck with the trimmer, which was bleeding, and continued to try and cut his hair while he was crying. I had to remove him from the chair myself and tell her to stop. We were all horrified. We were just visiting the area. Now I know why she didn't have anyone in there when we showed up. read more

This is a fantastic place! Such a comfortable welcoming environment and feel. Walked in was greeted right away by a friendly smile and hello. Took my seat in the waiting area there was 2 gentleman ahead of me. Very comfortable seating with a television. When it was my turn I took my seat in the chair and engaged in great conversation while getting a fantastic haircut. Stop in for a hair cut here and met The one and only Jan. The atmosphere was clean and very quiet and for good reason. I asked for a military hair cut which is pretty common these days and ok coarse I came to a "Barber Shop" Jan informed me she didn't cut hair like a Mexican would like and she said they were racist . I still let her cut my hair . Not knowing how much anger she had built up she didn't even come remotely close to a hair cut presentable for church . Hair gel can fix that but she will cut your hair the way she wants not the way you request . Jan I think retirement is in your future . Hope things haven't better for you . read more

She said can i help you... i said, i need a haircut( hence me going into a barbershop) she said sorry i don't do latino edge-ups... i felt really offended . Even though I've only been here once, the service and the quality of the haircut were beyond what I expected. I am very picky about my barber shops and was scared to go here at first but I went here because of the reviews. I am an introvert so talking in the chair does not come naturally to me but the barber I had was very genuine and nice and easy to talk to. Probably the worst hair cut I've ever had....she left my sideburns so uneven! Like it was awful! And I asked for pointed sides, I don't think she even knows what that is. I'm usually pretty skittish when it comes to trying a new barber shop, as I have had some pretty horrific experiences in the past. I did some Googling and Yelping in the area to see about reviews and pricing of a handful of local shops and ended up finding many positive reviews for Jan's, which conveniently was one of the closest shops to me. After deciding to make the trip over, I can confidently tell you that I won't need to look elsewhere for hair cuts as long as I'm a resident of Polk County. Jan was very personable, there was no appointment necessary and I received one of the nicest cuts I've had in a long while for less than a Jackson. She actually paid attention to the look I was going for and unlike many stylists I've encountered, delivered. Well worth the few extra bucks over one of the other local cheapy chop shops without question, who usually leave your head looking like a student cut it and had a real field day with the buzzer, with the wrong size guard no less. read more

Awful experience here.. Lady cutting hair needs to learn some customer service.... Came in for a easy military cut and left w uneven hair and paid $20 for this!!! Lady cutting hair never introduced herself, told me that I was the last customer of the day and she sure made seem like I was.. Did not take her time to do a good job.. Never asked me how I wanted the back of my hair clean. Whether squared, rounded etc.. Just did her thing.. Never showed me how it looked in the end, just kicked me out of the chair.. She didnt do my side burns and my neck wasnt even clean! My wife had to finish the job when I got home! Oh and she also added a tip for herself in my CC WITHOUT my authorization... To sum up things, I will never come back and will not recommend to anybody I know ! I also never paid $20 for a military cut before.. So save yourself some money and headache and go to a REAL baber shop and not a wanna be.... read more

I never write reviews but the service i received from this place was so excellent i felt the need to let everyone know about it. I took my son to get a cut and as soon as i walked in i was greeted with friendly faces .The gentleman that cut my sons hair is named Cesar. I will definitely keep going back to get my sons haircut and have also told my husband about this place.Cesar went above and beyond to make my experience at jans a great one he took his time , was very polite and very knowledgable helping me out in deciding on the type of cut that would look best on my son. My barber told me that she is not technical with her cuts and that was noticeable with her finishing result as she never touched scissor or showed any skill. When the barber was shaving the edge of the cut in the back she did the minimum nothing more that she had to. When it came down to paying I had to walk to Walgreens to get cash and when I got back the barber was back at her table outside with her coffee and cigarette. read more
