Janss Marketplace in Thousand Oaks is found on Moorpark Rd, between Hillcrest Dr & Brazil St. There are several restaurants & some retail shops here. There's plenty of free parking in front & there's also plenty of free parking at the back in the parking structure. It's a chill atmosphere. A bit too chill. The other night I saw various young adults wearing pajama pants. Maybe Bec it was cold. But, is that a thing here? Smh lols. Located towards the back is a Regal Movie Theater & a Gold's Gym. Towards the front is an Aldi & a PetCo. Janss Marketplace is massive! Not as big as The Oaks, but long stretches of a variety of places to explore and experience. You come for amazing attractions like Reign of Terror, Jingle Bell Jump, Photos with Santa, outdoor concerts and Sky Zone! Parking is free... In structured lot with easy stair access... Though not so much elevator... If you park above level one... As sometimes it's working and sometimes it's not. There is some none covered parking near certain ends of this outdoor marketplace/center. Cold Stones, Pieology, Panera Bread, Lucky's Dog and Buca Di Beppo... are some eats to enjoy... As well as my spot Sharky's... Best one in SoCal! Tons of areas to hangout, relax or just stroll around... The restrooms aren't the best, but overall they do keep things up... Tons of empty spaces for rent... However The Mighty Axe (axe throwing bar), Regal (cinemas) and Dave & Busters are where the parties are! Not the greatest in terms of mall-like spaces, but not to far off from 2nd runner up. You can definitely find something to enjoy at Janss. read more

It's good to be back here after so many years. I used to work around the area and this was my playground beside The Oaks Mall. I like to walk here on my days off. It is an outdoor mall like the Village at Topanga. I come over here for retail therapy, to watch a movie or two, to entertain myself or have lunch and get my steps as well. Plenty of parking. Restrooms are clean. Enough eating places to choose from as well as retail stores. Dave and Busters is new (new for me because I haven't been here in a while ). Good entertainment for all ages. The fountain is definitely a good attraction for kids during summer. read more

My friend and I were in TO for some shopping. I hadn't been here in years. It looks quiet lonely. We stopped at a Vietnamese restaurant here but we didn't love it. There's a movie theatre here but it's kinda of old and not modern looking. Not my first choice for shopping, dining or movie going but it does takes back to my high school days. Nostalgia is always a plus. This place could use some TLC but it probably needs more support for people. I'll try to make it out here a bit more :) read more

Went to one of their summer concerts last night and it was great fun. The owners/vendors work hard to give you a good experience. A fountain for kids to play in, Sharkeys, Ulta, Old Navy, Nordstom Rack, DSW, Gold's Gym, etc. and now their new escape rooms. Always a pleasant experience at Janns Marketplace! read more

There are a lot of restaurants and shops in this outdoor mall. It is a nice place for a stroll and/or window shopping or real shopping too. There is ample parking and they keep this place very clean. Not sure if they have wifi available but it would be a nice place to sit and do homework or even read. read more

The mall sent this email to all their email subscribers The Janss Mall is in the city of Thousand Oaks which has 2 High schools. Our school district denied either school a prom. Kids are disappointed but where excited to see something was finally being planned for them. Well until the Janss clarified that they are only allowing one high school the attend and not the other. If your child attends TO High they get to go but not if they attend Newbury Park High. Apparently only half the high school students in town are actually being recognized. I liked this plaza. There are a lot of good places, but the Asian woman who works for Janns marketplace and runs events every last Saturday of the months is very disrespectful to little kids. Today me and 3 of my little kids experienced awful situation during the Halloween event. I contacted Janns marketplace and let them know about her. I hope they will take my email into consideration. This woman is unprofessional and should never be working with kids. I will never tolerate the company or the place who hire employees that can offend a young child! read more

I've got to give the owners of this shopping complex credit for continually offering reinvention to this area. Over the past 20 years they've renovated the configuration and outdoor spaces, bringing in public art, plus live music and other entertainment options. Brick and mortar retailers are under huge pressure to lure shoppers, as most of us know. Enduring many lost stores over the years, Janss Marketplace seems to keep bouncing back. Presently, anchor tenants include Burlington, Ulta Beauty, Sears, Golds Gym, and Old Navy. I've yet to check out Nordstroms Rack and DSW on the south end, but they're there waiting for exploration. Also holding down the West side is the Regal Theater multiplex, with adjacent food court. There's a new activity space called DojoBoom, where Linens 'n Things once stood. Looks amazing! Wait, you say you're hungry? From soups and sandwiches at Panera Bread, to Italian comfort food at Buca di Bello, to sushi, to What's Mexican grill, to Indian, poke, even Hooters and a craft brewery, choices abound. Parking is free, including a multi-story structure on the West side of the complex. They host an annual Haunted House in October, and live music Wednesdays during the summer. I recall they also have a 4th of July party on the roof of the parking garage. The better to observe the fireworks show shot off at nearby Oaks Mall. Janss Marketplace is the definition of 3 star mediocrity, though trending upwards as of late. This marketplace is highlighted by: Carwash, Bandits, King Kong Sushi $1 beer happy hours, Hooters, Greccos Pizza, and a movie theatre. Tip: Stay away from sunset terrace. The owners are mean and rude people. The service is awful, and the vibes are terrible. The people that come here at night are very sketchy and not a fun party crowd. The food? I've been going here for years and this place is always changing. It has one theater a couple places to eat and a few good stores. My favorite reason to go here is for the gym, they have Golds. There is plenty of parking here as well and it can get pretty busy. Their newest addition is Hooters, going on a few months now. I discovered this place by accident and I love it. I enjoy spending time here with my daughter. My experience with similar outdoor malls includes the Block at Orange near where we used to live in Anaheim and the San Tan Mall in Gilbert, Arizona. Both are similar and on a larger scale than Janss - but same idea - mix of stores, eateries, fountains, outdoor seating, and walking outside to get around. We love the fountains, flowers and Chumash sculptures. I love having Panera right by the main fountain. My daughter likes Lucky's Dog House. We both eat Subway and Grecco's New York Pizzaria (it's worth going to see those giant slices of pizza - quite spectacular - and tasty). There is a movie theater and enough stores to do a fair amount of shopping - Sears, Toys R Us, some clothing stores, etc.Really wish it had a book store - a nice Barnes & Noble. The Burger King between the Subway and the Hawaiian BBQ place is gone and the space is available. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an Arby's - probably my most favorite fast food restaurant of all time. All in all, I always feel very safe. It is family friendly. During cooler evenings in the winter the outdoor spaces have heaters and there is an outdoor fireplace near the movie theater/Gold's Gym. read more

Mann's theatre at Janss Marketplace stinks of piss, dirt and air conditioner filters that are never changed. The smell is so strong in the screening room; it is difficult to concentrate on a movie. The chairs in this place have been broken for at least 7 years. It is difficult to find a public bathroom that smells as bad as this theatre, so if you are there for the smell, $11 tickets are well worth the price read more

Okay, if you have kids and it's summer time you need to come here! I bring my three year olds to play in the fountains all the time and then after I take them to the playground, maybe to dojo boom, toys r us, then to dinner and maybe a movie. Such an excellent place to bring young kids to entertain them and you can have an entertaining day having spent no money at all which I really appreciate. read more

Decent family mall that always appears to be struggling to get by. Lots of empty stores and seasonal (Halloween, etc) things being used to fill them. Clean location with decent supply of parking. ToysRUs, movie theater (with weekday specials) and a great fountain for kids to play in. Overall, not a bad place but not very exciting. Most people go to the Oaks Mall down the street. read more

This theater is dated but the value is unbeatable. Sound and video for the most part are dead on and the $5 any movie Tuesdays are fantastic! Seats could be more comfortable, but in the 90's they were state of the art. read more

We went last night to Santa's village to visit Santa and get photos. It was the easiest process we have ever had. No line, and everything looked so cute and the kids got reindeer headbands. Santa was so friendly and the kids felt at ease. He even mesmerized my baby with his piccolo. Highly recommended. read more

This review applies ONLY to the Marketplace restrooms, and I can only speak to the condition of the ladies' room. I have been coming to the Marketplace for many years and nothing has been upgraded. I don't know this for a fact, but judging by the color scheme and condition, my guess is that the restrooms have never been upgraded since the place opened a very long time ago, other than recently putting auto-flush on the same old toilets, none of which work properly. The whole restroom is in deplorable condition. The sinks don't all work and the ones that do work poorly, and pretty much everything is broken down. The toilets don't flush properly. The one in the handicap stall requires several flushes and many people don't wait to make sure everything is flushed away, so what should have been flushed away is often still there to greet the next person. The stall next to that one is not not flushing at all and wasn't working several days ago. It has not yet been repaired and there hasn't even been an "out of order" sign put on it, nor the stall door locked. When I was in there a short time before writing this review, that toilet was filled with both types of human waste, which makes for a very unhealthy atmosphere. One of the locks has a Micky Mouse replacement lock and another one has no lock at all. I can't understand why these conditions are allowed by any business or property management in a beautiful, affluent community like Thousand Oaks. There can't be a reasonable excuse for this. The Marketplace is generally very pleasant, but this particular issue has gotten so bad that I don't want to go there anymore. I will not attach photos with this, as I would not stay in the restroom long enough to take pictures. I couldn't get out fast enough! read more

Its a very friendly store and there are always people to help you. Only drawbacks are that there is usually only 2 check out lanes open even when it is super busy. I find that they run out of the formula I need alot and dont get it in for sometimes a week or more forcing me to buy at the grocery store. They always have great deals on electronics which is a plus with a husband and an 8 year old. All in all if you are looking for actual baby food/ formula this isnt always the store their the R Zone as it is called is sparsely stocked. read more

I can't say enough good things about the Janss marketplace! It's truly one of my favorite malls to visit with my family. I have been coming here for years and can honestly say the new shops that are here make it such a wonderful experience. I was having lunch at Panera bread and I noticed there is a Halloween store now open!! It's called The Best Halloween store ever and let me tell you... it's the BEST Halloween store ever! The scenes are insanely cool and it's such a nice change to have the ability to come here and shop. I loved every part of it and the staff were amazing and so helpful! I was talking to the owner and they are a family owned business which is even cooler to me so definitely support it!! We also can't say enough good things about dojo boom! My kids can't get enough and I even enjoy jumping there!! Such a great work out! So impressed over the past year with the improvements being made at the Janss Marketplace. My kids love Dojoboom, I love Nordie's Rack and DSW and we anxiously await the opening of Dave & Busters! Probably the best part was when they re-did the movie theater. It is now the only one we will go to in the area. The seats are crazy comfortable and we have been so happy with the movie prices. I love this place, besides the fact that someone at Marshals, Sports Authority or Burlington stole my Ipad. I'm 13 and they won't fess up to stealing it, the person that I talked to at Marshals was acting nervous and frantic, so don'g go to any of these places unless you want to get robbed!!!! read more

Anchored by Sears, Toys-R-Us, the Mann movie theater and Mervyn's, the Janss Marketplace is an evolving outdoor mall that has endured many redesigns and store/restaurant changes. Currently, as I write my review, it is still a pleasant place to stroll through, with two extraordinary fountains both paying tribute to native americans and plenty of outdoor seating. Parking is hardly a problem except around the holidays. There is a nice mix of restaurants and eateries with shopping diversity for the whole family. Every hour there's a light and water show at the main fountain between Buca's and Mervyn's and I just found out that every second Thursday of the month is open mic night, where you may catch me crooning if I ever get the cahonies to get up there. On the other end of the mall is an outdoor food court with an impressive fireplace and a new restaurant called Sunset Terrace that I need to try. The movie theater needs to be updated and Sears seems so old-school, but within Thousand Oaks there has always been a conflict of old and new. It's a sleepy affluent area that values slow growth and suburbanitism. Janss Marketplace is doing it's best to stay up with the Joneses while keeping the old folks happy. read more

We normally go to muvico to watch movies in Thousand Oaks. Since the tickets were sold out there we decided to come here. This place is just terrible, a guy name Joseph was rude, mean, and does not know how to treat his customers right. He was even yelling at his employees in front of us which was just very unprofessional, I assume he had no training how how to provide good service to a customer. Great place to go visit and take the kids to when it's hot out because of the water set up they have by Sharky's and Buca Di Peppo so the kids can run around get wet and enjoy the sun while you can just sit watch you're kids and have a quick bit to eat. Security staff is excellent always saw them walking around to make sure everything was okay. I recommend this place to all families it's a safe and fun place to go to . read more

theres nice stores and interseting gems if you really look in the center but they need to some do something to make the center more alive. the majority of people are old or very conservative like if your dating a politician or something lol. overall nice center read more
