Dating back to November of 2018 - before setting an appointment with Ms. Smith, she contacted my insurance company, at my request, to inquire about my benefits and coverage. Ms. Smith relayed the information to me, with one discrepancy, she lied about my insurance liability and what I would owe her for service. She deceived me by claiming that I would the difference of whatever my insurance company (Blue Cross Blue Shield) would not cover for a "new patient consultation". After four visits, and four co-payments in cash, I reached out to my insurance company only to discover that I had already reached my out of pocket maximum for the year and I was paying co-payments to this woman when I did not need to. I was also told by my insurance company that Ms. Smith has a contract with them and that she cannot "balance bill" me (charge me the difference of what I paid (co-payments) and the payment she receives from my insurance company for her initial consultation). My insurance company also told me that I am due refund, from The Pampered Porcupine, of my four co-payments. Ms. Smith has been made aware of this and she still refuses to refund me. Ms. Smith took advantage of me and prayed upon my lack of understanding of my rights and health insurance coverage/benefits. Specifically, for Anthem CT or BCBS members please contact Anthem/BCBS immediately to ensure you are not being balance billed by this woman. Please also file a complaint the CT Health Commissioner immediately if you feel you are being overcharged. I also had needles left in me on more than one occasion.

Since they treat multiple people at the same time in one room (which is NOT a problem for the client, trust me) they are able to drive their cost per session WAY down. I've looked at other acupuncturists in the area and they are literally 3X the price. 2) Staff. Not only are Rachel, Katie and Anne-Louise super duper friendly, but they really take the time to listen to you before your appointment. They will do what is necessary to make you feel better. 3) It works. I do not have chronic pain but I go for an overactive bladder. It has been helping. Overall, I highly recommend.
