I was looking for some organic milk that wasn't ultra-pasteurized and while I did not find that here, I did find a source for raw milk and more exciting locally produced raw milk cheese. Don't tell anyone, but the Royer Mountain aged raw milk cheese from Clover Creek Cheese Cellar could easily be sold in New York for $20 per pound or more. Here you can get it for about $10. On top of that I was able to get a dozen eggs that were collected on the very day I bought them. The eggs came from Split ail Run Farm in Clearville, and were labeled Free Range and All Natural. I'm not sure exactly what their standards are, but same-day eggs are amazing. A dozen was $3. I brought them back to my in-laws farm and poached them gently. Then I put them on top of toast from Hot Buns bakery for a very Bedford breakfast. The shelves are a bit sparse (I had hoped for a broader selection of Tom's of Maine toothpastes) and the produce didn't look great. But they had local lamb and other meats in the freezer. Oddly they stock Boar's Head too, but I'm not going to hold that against them.

That may have really hit the nail on the head when it comes to describing this place. Getting here is quite the task. You really have to go out of the way to get here if you do not live in the area. And once you think you are getting near here, you start to second guess yourself and wonder if you took a wrong turn somewhere. It is literally in the middle of a farm field. Once you park and walk inside, it is wild. As was said, it is a dent and bent store when it comes to nationally recognized brands. On top of that, you may find an item that has a 'best by' date that has come and gone. You will also find items that were either discontinued or didn't fair too well when they hit the shelves. So you kind of get the last of an item in here. It is kind of a scavenger hunt when it comes to these items. Once you move on from that section of the store you enter a bulk area. Bulk items for everything from spices to candies. Each item is packaged in what appears to be generic type packaging, but is definitely a good quality product to have. I always found that ground mustard is way to expensive when you go to a big box store. I found an amount that was triple what you get for less than a dollar. I will definitely be coming back here in the future when it comes to my spicing needs. They have a good quality deli and meat section as well. Fresh deli meats readily available and some decent selection of frozen items as well as 'I never saw that in a store before' items, like a beef heart. There is a "cooler" section. I say that in quotes because it is nothing more than a cooler truck trailer packed with items that need to be chilled. Overall, don't come here with a shopping list. Just come in here with certain things on your mind to look for. Always note that you will be spending far less here as well. But you will be coming out of here with a far superior product.

The majority of their inventory seems to consist of overpriced "souvenir" T-shirts, and hoodies (free advertising for the store), and Made-in-China items pretending to be Native American artifacts. It is kind of like an oasis when travelling in this area of Pennsylvania. This sits on a fairly big piece of land, but somehow still feels small. Maybe that is because many people stop here to get gas or pick a forgotten item at home. My most recent visit here I observed many people coming out with items like milk and bread. You may end up paying a bit more than at your neighborhood grocery store, but I don't think many people would mind due to the fact that you are saving yourself a trip and some hassle. As far as gas prices, they are reasonable and expected for the area. Honestly I feel like this spot could charge whatever it wanted. They do not have any immediate competition nearby. It is one of the first exits to Somerset that offers gas. And people will come here regardless of that. Not sure who supplies the gas, but it seems to be fairly good with mileage. For a roadside stop, definitely fills the need.
