The Gallery Inn - The view fantastic the drinks, horrible price gouging! $18 a drink... This is not a high-end mixologist type of location.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this place genuinely deserves it…read more The Gallery Inn trades entirely on a bohemian aesthetic and ocean views--and unfortunately, that's where the positives end. Yes, the views are beautiful and the air conditioning works well. Everything else is deeply disappointing. The rooms are dusty, dated, and poorly maintained. Water pressure is abysmal. There is no daily housekeeping, no towel refresh, and no sense that guest comfort is a priority at all. The most egregious issue: constant, extremely loud music blasting from ~9:45 AM until midnight (and sometimes beyond). This isn't ambient background music--it's intrusive, unavoidable, and completely inappropriate for a place that markets itself as a hotel. When we asked staff--politely--to turn it off at midnight on a Sunday, we were told: "We'll turn it off when we want to turn it off." That interaction captures the service here perfectly. The staff were consistently rude, dismissive, and at times openly hostile. At one point, our friends were locked out of their room, and a staff member refused to help, saying: "I'm on my break and I can't help you." We ultimately had to call the San Juan police to resolve both the lockout and the noise issue. This is not quirky or charming--it's unprofessional and unacceptable, particularly for a room that's almost $350 a night. The Gallery Inn feels less like a hotel and more like a self-indulgent art project that resents its guests. It's trying to monetize a vibe while ignoring the most basic standards of hospitality. Avoid.

One of my favorite parts was the beautiful waterfront area nearby with a fountain water show. The atmosphere was amazing, and there's a large open space in the middle where people gather with family and friends to relax, watch the big screens, and enjoy the nightlife. Whether you're looking for good food, entertainment, or just a fun place to walk around, I highly recommend adding T-Mobile District to your San Juan itinerary!

This place feels like Puerto Rico's answer to Times Square, with a massive open plaza wrapped in towering LED screens, music pumping, and energy bouncing off every corner. Opened in 2021, it's a 475,000-square-foot playground packed with restaurants, bars, shops, a movie theater, live music venues, and even a zipline flying overhead yeah, you read that right. What makes it special isn't just the flash it's the heartbeat. The central plaza alone is a 360-degree digital spectacle with millions of pixels lighting up concerts, events, and just everyday nightlife, turning it into a gathering spot for locals and travelers alike. Whether you're bouncing between bites, catching a show at the Coca-Cola Music Hall, or just soaking it all in, this is one of those "don't skip it" stops. It's modern San Juan flexing a little loud, bright, and alive and if you're hopping around the city, it's an easy honorable mention that turns into a full-blown night before you even realize it.

Review is based on a four night stay. Overall, I recommend La Concha. It's a Marriott affiliate with some personality and class. Arrival: Arrived by Uber. Helpful doormen and luggage attendants. Check in: Overall good check in process. Marriott status acknowledged with a serious room upgrade to a suite. Room was not yet ready, and the receptionist gave us some free drink vouchers for the bar. Room (954): A spacious sweet. Living room included a colossal sectional, large TV, dresser, and breakfast table. The living room also included a Nespresso machine and a mini-refrigerator. Bedroom included a king bed with a bench and nightstands. One negative about this suite: lack of a desk. I was on business, and working from the sofa sectional got old fast. Bathroom: Excellent lighting. Spacious and clean shower. Bed: Decent but not great mattress. Sleep quality: Above average Patio: Nice patio with two chairs and a small table; really enjoyed drinking coffee on the patio watching the surf. WiFi: WiFi when it worked was generally fast. But I missed a video conference due to poor connectivity the day before we left. Housekeeping: Overall housekeeping was good, but the floors were not thoroughly cleaned before our arrival or during our stay. Pools and beach: Multiple pools to lounge by. Great poolside food and drink service. Nice beach (but it can be dangerous to swim at times) with typical seaweed issues. Staff: All of the hotel staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Great staff overall! Value: Overall good value Overall common area cleanliness: Excellent Misc Tips: (1) There are many decent restaurants within walking distance. (2) There's a large grocery store called SuperMax about 1 mile away. It's worth the Uber fare to stock up on everything from alcohol to snacks (including gifts to take home, such as Puerto Rican coffee for $2.95 / 8 ounce pack

We booked an "ocean view" room, which was really more of a nice 45-degree angle looking down the length of the beach. Still enjoyable, just something to keep in mind when booking. Some reviews mentioned dirty rooms, but our experience on the 8th floor was the complete opposite. Our room was spotless when we arrived, and housekeeping returned it to that same condition every day. Honestly, it was probably the best housekeeping service I can remember at a hotel. On the other hand, we had the same A/C issues others have mentioned. The room simply wouldn't get cool enough the first two nights, but the engineering team fixed it when we finally inquired. The room itself worked really well for a family. The pullout sofa was surprisingly nice, the shower was very spacious, having the toilet behind its own separate door made getting everyone ready much easier, and the room key is a wristband, so it's easy to keep with you all the time. Unlike some of the other places we visited, it's also removable if you'd rather not wear it. The only other area I'd mention that could be improved is the front desk and concierge. There were a few times they seemed unmanned when we walked through the lobby, and while everyone was friendly, we didn't get the sense they had enough firsthand knowledge of the area to tailor recommendations to different interests, ages, or travel styles. The hotel definitely has a nightlife vibe. Every evening the lobby filled with people heading out in club attire, and the casino is a nice little bonus if that's your thing. The lobby itself is large, clean, and often had a good balance of customers being served and available space for others. The pools were nice, though I'd like to see the third pool reopened before maybe considering it a four-star stay. The beach is pleasant, with plenty of room to relax in the sun, but be warned that the hotel advises against swimming, and multiple locals elsewhere told us the same thing because of the currents. Plenty of people were wading well out or swimming close to shore, but I'd be nervous if I had kids venturing out very far or swimming alone. If swimming is your goal, there are safer beaches just a short Uber, taxi ride, or even a reasonable walk away. (I think the closest one recommended to us was about a half mile to the west.) The location is another big plus. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, Old San Juan is just a quick Uber away, and the sushi bar in the hotel was surprisingly affordable and much better than I expected for hotel sushi. Overall, I'd probably stay here again if visiting that area. It has a great location, comfortable rooms, excellent housekeeping, and enough amenities to keep most people happy. Just go in expecting a lively atmosphere, and hopefully get a room with an A/C unit that's already behaving itself.

I am a very light sleeper, so I did notice the street noise from an active area in any type of city. My wife and couple we were travelling with had no problems. But to be this close to everything, this was a non-issue for me because the B&B and location are really top-notch. They also suggested a couple other b&bs to visit (Casa Flamboyant and Dos Aguas--make sure to check them out, too!) ***PRO TIP: If you intend on being in San Juan for more than a day, I HIGHLY recommend not having a car until you decide to leave and explore other parts of the Island. Everything is walking distance so there's no need to drive (or you can Uber). If you absolutely have to pick up your rental car right off the bat, you will have to park you car overnight in a garage or a lot. There is a $3/day lot that is a little bit of a walk, near the National Guard base. Drop off your luggage with someone in your party and they'll check in, and you should park your car there.
