Not to Be Trusted -- Reservation Canceled Less Than Two Weeks Before Our Stay…read moreAbsolutely unacceptable. We made this reservation five months ago, planned our trip around it, and with less than two weeks before our arrival, Salty Lodge simply canceled our reservation.
No explanation. No phone call. No attempt to help us find alternative accommodations. No offer to make the situation right. Nothing.
Instead, we received an impersonal email saying, "We are sincerely sorry we had to cancel your stay" followed by the almost insulting statement that they "look forward to your next stay with us."
Why would there be a next stay?
When a hotel accepts a reservation months in advance, guests reasonably expect that reservation to be honored--or, at the absolute minimum, that the hotel will take responsibility if it cannot. Canceling at the last minute without explanation or assistance leaves guests scrambling to find accommodations when availability is limited and prices may be significantly higher.
A reservation is only valuable if you can trust the property to honor it. Based on our experience, Salty Lodge cannot be trusted to do that.
We booked five months in advance and did everything right. Salty Lodge canceled less than two weeks before our trip and apparently considered a generic email sufficient customer service.
Completely unprofessional, incredibly disappointing, and a terrible way to treat guests. I would think twice before planning a trip around a reservation here.
