Did not take a history. I don't think he even read my chart or any of the paperwork I filled out prior. Did not give information regarding future care, or what I should be doing for myself. I could hear him berating other patients and staff. As a type 1 diabetic I already brace for medical professionals to be misinformed and judgemental when I step into their office, and I was still so incredibly floored by how poor his bedside manner was. Even as a regular human being this man was incredibly unkind. Dentistry is already one of the most expensive and daunting forms of medical care, especially in America. There is a huge power dynamic and at no point did I feel comforted or relieved that this man was caring for me. It was also incredibly expensive and seemed very shady. For being someone who has chosen to be a carer for people in vulnerable situations it truly seems that he takes pride in creating even more barriers for patients. I am so disgusted with this entire experience. And after reading these other reviews I am not the only one. Please do so so so much better.

The…read morecleaning itself was fairly uncomfortable and I repeatedly got water sprayed up my nose while lying flat, which made the appointment stressful. I was also asked multiple times for a driver's license and about where I parked, even after I explained that I can't drive and provided my passport as ID. It would be more inclusive to ask for "a form of ID" instead of assuming patients have a driver's license or drove to the appointment. As someone who is autistic and cannot drive, that felt extremely dismissive--especially after I had already explained it. The staff were otherwise kind, but I hope the office can improve these aspects for future patients.

While this certainly could have turned out badly, seeing as I had nothing to go on, I am very pleased with Dr. Suekawa and his staff. I was feeling trepidacious about going as I had not been to the dentist in ages and was quite embarrassed about that fact (and the longer I waited the more embarrassed I became so the less I wanted to go...). It's quite a ridiculous situation to find yourself in but from looking online it seems that it's not all that uncommon. Anyways, their office is somewhat small (it's a suite in an office building) but it's very pleasant and clean and it is, after all, only for one dentist so it's the perfect size I'm sure. Also, there is a VERY nice selection of current magazines which sounds silly to mention but I always hate finding 5 year-old magazines in an office when you've forgotten something to read. I forget the hygienists name but she's very nice and friendly and certainly seems to know what she's doing. Dr. Suekawa is also friendly and quite gentle. All three of my visits so far have been very positive and I believe that Dr. Suekawa is a very good dentist since he managed to clean up my mouth. If he can do that I'm sure that the usual 6-month checkup is a piece of cake! I did have to have a couple of cavities done (one was a redo of a very old cavity) and while I can't say I enjoyed it (who would?) I AM glad to have it done and Dr. Suekawa did a great job with those as well. Most importantly, no-one made me feel like an idiot over the fact that it had been so long since I'd seen a dentist - something I really appreciate as I already felt like an idiot on my own. I will definitely continue to see Dr. Suekawa on a regular basis for all my checkups/cleanings and such.

Luckily, I did my homework by checking reviews online and did some comparisons etc. and found myself here at the 3G Family Dentistry. Three generations of dentists in SLC ... to me that was an excellent sign along with my other research. So happy with my service including: my first phone call to set up apt with assistance confirming with my insurance company that I was in network and also calming my fears of dentristy in the time of COVID. I showed up with my new paperwork that I pre-printed and filled out (although I'm sure you can do it onsite too) and was called back soon after my arrival. Since this is the time of COVID and I had also moved to Utah I had missed 2 dentist appointments during the previous year. Bring extremely obsessive about my teeth I was nervous about missing and what we would learn. I was THRILLED with Angel, my hygenist who took her time with my x-rays (they don't have those HUGE trays that cut your mouth so bonus!) and then also flossing and then sand-blasting my teeth (or something along those lines) and then a second type of cleaning. She checked my sadly receeding gums and assured me that we were not (yet) in a danger zone and all was well. She was super nice and helpful with all my questions. Then Dr. G came in and did his look around under the hood and also assured me that all looked good- no cavities, etc. We discussed at length my receeding gums and the different solutions for that and we also discussed my need for a night guard as that nightime grinding (or clenching!) could be the reason for my gum issues. I have heard this from every dentist over the years and was not surprised at the night guard discussion. I was REALLY happy at the extra time he took with me showing me diagrams and actually TEACHING me what we were talking about. I kept everyone there way beyond quitting time but no one seemed to care or notice. I'll be back in 6 months!
