Holladay Dental Studio is a high-overhead dental office that compensates the cost incurred by their "comfort menu", snacks, and free drinks by charging overpriced and overdramatized dental services, recommendations, and upcharges. My hygienist was very kind and accommodating. I waited 30 minutes before being seen which she apologized for and gave me a $5 gift card to Starbucks which is nice (but speaks to the high cost of operating this place). She seemed to listen and did a good job cleaning my teeth. 2 stars is for her. My dentist smelled of private equity and a complete disinterest in people he doesn't relate to. He recommended up-charged toothpaste, and up-charged filling material after explaining basic dental hygiene before asking about my existing habits. Then gave a treatment plan with high cost and high urgency. I received a second opinion from a lower-overhead dentist who had practical equipment and no comfort menu or drinks to speak of, but the same service was offered at a much more affordable price and much of what was itemized by Holladay was included in the overall cost from a well-regarded dentist in the area. My personal cost-incurred was around 1/4 of what Holladay quoted. He knew he could have come in at 7/8 of Holladay's cost and would have won my business but he charged for what I needed and committed to monitoring the rest as they were not of immediate importance. If you drive a Range Rover, require luxury in everything you do, and enjoy lighting money on fire, I'd recommend Holladay. If you drive a Toyota, require practical, affordable dental care from someone who takes pride in providing to the majority of the population without the frills, I'd look elsewhere. read more

Went in for an emergency oral extraction and honestly, I can say that was the worst experience I've ever had with a dentist he seen that there was a infection on the roof of my gums. He was so confident on getting it done. He even said he knows more than the emergency room but as soon as he started draining the infection, I just felt so much pain and all of a sudden he stops and tells me he can't do it because my infection is going down my throat and he won't be able to do any surgery because of the infection which I understood but before this I went to two other dentist spots and they didn't have a problem with pulling my tooth out. I just didn't have the right money at the moment. And honestly, I think they're just in it for the money they will push you and push you to make sure you pay for every service. They didn't even do my oral extraction, but sent me to the emergency room and mind you he already started draining the infection which even made my infection worse and caused more pain to it. I called them about my refund since nothing was done and they just made rushed to the emergency room and they told me I will not be getting the balance that I paid with my own money back but instead it'll be going to the cherry app they make you use and I don't understand why if I didn't have no service done for me and he kept telling me the whole entire time that I wouldn't have to be paying for the draining or anything because he wanted to help me get rid of the infection, which he couldn't do overall I hate this place. I wouldn't recommend that to anybody especially for an emergency. read more

The idea of a dental spa was intriguing. I went in for the $29 introductory cleaning, x-ray, and consultation. I didn't mark that I had insurance so that my insurance would be billed erroneously. When the appointment was started I was told "you have no insurance." It was not a question but a statement. You have no insurance. I left it at that wondering what their plan was. The hygienist started cleaning my teeth, spraying water all over my glasses and face. I understand water gets sprayed but getting it on my face and glasses was something I wasn't accustomed to. After starting the cleaning of my teeth and xraying my mouth, the hygienist brought in the dentist who showed me what is wrong with my teeth. He didn't say the same things my previous dentist said about my teeth. It made wonder if the previous dentist missed what this dentist was pointing out. I wasn't alarmed, just intrigued. He wants to add 2 crowns on different teeth my previous dentist was looking at. I wondered if the previous dentist would have eventually come to these two teeth to fix. No mention of the teeth that were previously brought to my attention. After the dentist left, the hygienist proceeded to clean my teeth and paused before polishing them to have the billing lady come in to show me how much it would cost to fix these two teeth WITHOUT insurance. They quoted me over $5,500. for 2 teeth! Their paperwork included a nice discount and my remaining payment was still about $3000.00 +. They said they could build my new caps that day and asked me if I was ready to sign up and get it done. I told them I wasn't ready for new teeth that day. She asked if I wanted to sign up to come in next week for my new teeth. I said no thankyou. Then she left and the hygienist proceeded to finish spraying my face and glasses with the spray hose they keep on the side. The nice part was she handed me a hot wash cloth to clean my face and glasses. That was really nice. They hand you a menu offering ear phones to watch netflix, or a massage chair and a few other choices. That was a nice touch. That is probably why they wanted to charge so much to a person with "no insurance", those with no insurance pay the hefty fees for all. The whole dental spa idea is nice, but not necessary. All dentists provide head phones and netflix, or cherry flavored polishing cream. I wonder if because they are in Holliday, that they would charge so much more than the dentist down the street. If they had offered to give me a manicure and hand massage I might have signed the paperwork. But no, I do have insurance and I feel that had I disclosed it, the pricing would have been much less than what they showed me. read more

I followed by hygienist to this practice. She is great! Sadly that is the only ting good about this practice. They clearly have a hard time holding onto good dentists. I've had a different one every time I've seen one. The billing practices are suspect as are the diagnosis my wife and I have received. We switched to a new provider and were given clean bills of dental health after being told at Holladay Dental Studio that my wife needed two crowns. This place is in it to make money off unsuspecting patients. I had to have an infected implant removed and it might have been the worst pain I've every experienced in a dental office. Bad experience ever! After chemo a lot of work to do on my teeth. They don't run it like a clinic but like a money machine. I don't want to go to a dentist that does Botox and want you to signed in advanced for all the treatments necessary, what bind you to there clinic even if you are not satisfy with there work. They did a partial denture for me that I can't wear, because it's impossible to chew my food. They made seven adjustments and it is not better. They refuse to take responsibility for it. Went in for possible root canal work. Exam seemed rushed and cursory. I was quoted a huge bill with lots of extra fees not covered by insurance. They also tried to upsell on "enhanced" materials and procedures. Out of pocket costs are considerable. Someone's got to pay for the fancy office, multiple dentists, huge staff, and the comfort menu with scented towels, flavored water, and massage chair. Super bougie. When I insisted on an insurance pre-determination, they were visibly annoyed. Went to a regular endodontist and was told I only need work on one tooth, not the two that Holladay wanted to do. These guys are gouging unsuspecting customers. Steer clear. read more

I get really bad anxiety when I'm at the dentist and they do whatever they can to try and make me feel comfortable and happy. Also they have done an amazing job on fixing my teeth and getting them to actually look good for once. I was excited to go to this place, they were nice and make you feel lush while in the chair. But without a dumb, long story to tell, they quoted me 5 crowns and almost $13k worth of work - including a root canal. I thought this was assinine, so I got a second opinion with 3G Family Dental, they quoted me $1,300 but in the end, out of pocket it will be $500 vs $11.5k at Holladay studio. The dentist came in for literally 7min, breezed over my teeth and then quoted this amount. REALLY crazy. REALLY. Hope this helps ya! Also, their xrays had an artifact in them (some black marks on each picture) that looked like cavities, but were in reality a flaw with their xray machine. Hoping that's not an intentional scam. There are dentists to help and there are dentists that seem very into the $, had I just gone ahead and done a ton of work for nothing, can't imagine the recovery, time fo 9 appointments and money I would've been out. Honestly really hope this helps others, to at least ask a lot of questions when you're there. read more

Okay! Once again I went to Holladay Dental Studio for some work. ( I should have learned from past experience not to go there)! I went in for a few fillings and was told there would be additional charges because they use advanced instruments and medication that my insurance doesn't cover! I only needed two cavities filled, THATS ALL!! Every single procedure they do included their Advanced treatments or procedures all of which I DO NOT NEED OR WANT!!!! They continued to tell me that I need root canal's and crowns which I do not need! I just need fillings done!!! No nerve damage or pain! Plus, I've noticed that when they complete any service on my teeth they NEVER say " hey, it looks like you have a few small cavities. Let's fill those before they turn into something worse." All they seem to want is to wait until they get bad enough for them to charge an outrageous fee for major work!! The time before this I ended up walking out of the treatment room because they had my insurance mixed up with someone else and they said my insurance wouldn't cover my cavities and now one has gotten to the point of needing a root canal!!! Well, THATS SIMPLY WRONG!!!!!! I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AND I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PRACTICE TO ANYONE!!!! read more

My fiancé has no insurance, and as such, it's hard to find an acceptable alternative for a dental experience. The first word that comes to mind is WOW! From the moment we entered, my expectations were blown out of the water. Free snacks and drinks, exceptional customer service, and even an children's play area. My fiancé is very nervous about dental work, and an altered state of mind caused by drugs. They were so patient and understanding of her very real phobia, the coordinator even held her hand and comforted her as she expressed her fears. The ability to wear headphones, watch tv or listen to music while getting your procedure is plainly awesome. Honestly, this place is the forefront of professionalism in dentistry. I'm floored by how caring and understanding the staff were. I will recommend this place to anyone and everyone who asks. To the staff at Holladay Dental Studio, thank you. I used to see Dr. Ericksen when he first started his practice and I loved him, since he opened the new practice and hired multiple dentists to join things have gone downhill. Ever since Dr. Ericksen stopped seeing patients for general dentistry I have ALWAYS had a bad experience. I don't know if the other dentists aren't experienced enough or if they are just tying to make money but I have never had so many issues with my teeth and had to return to fix the things that were supposed to have been fixed already until now. I have been told I need a crown or other work on multiple teeth and then when I get them fixed I have continuous pain afterwards. I have had cavities filled and then issues with those teeth a couple weeks later. My husband told me he has a bad feeling about them and after reading reviews that are like mine I am finding a new dentist and would recommend everyone else do the same. read more

Holladay Dental Studio was 1) friendly and in good spirits, 2) professional and competent, 3) more accommodating than ANY dentist or endontist I have interacted with -- my wife and daughter have had multiple root canals so I had lots of runway leading up to my own. The pain was unbearable. they charged for a service (an implant & and bone graft) that was not provided and kept insisting the $1200 was for a "socket preservation "... paid them so we don't get sent to a collection agency. At first I was pleased with this office. Nice clean office with friendly staff. After a couple of visits I became skeptical as each time I was told I needed tons of work done. Being young and not getting a second opinion I went through with getting multiple fillings and a crown. Prior to my visits I had little to no irritation afterwards I have had continuous pain from the fillings and have returned multiple times and had them "adjusted" with no resolution. A month after my last appointment, I received a surprise bill for $400 charges I never agreed upon in my treatment plan provided by the Holladay Dental studio staff. Upon calling their office to ask questions they provided no help and left me with empty apologies. I'll never return. Save yourself the trouble and pain from going to this place. read more

Holladay Dental Studio is a FANTASTIC dental healthcare provider/office! Every employee I have come into contact with has been kind, helpful, understanding, and did everything possible to help me keep my (probably irrational, yet no less real) anxiety and fear of the dentist under control so I could receive the dental treatments and procedures I required. I was always given nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for every procedure, and when numbing or drilling was necessary, they sedated me with additional medications so I would be able to both stay calm, and also, not remember the procedures. They even offer IV sedation, where you are completely unconscious. I chose to be awake, but fully appreciate the options they offer, and how Dr. Erickson took all of my current medications into consideration while planning my treatment plan's sedation protocol, making sure I had enough medication to keep me calm without giving me too much! I was even able to decline a planned second dose of a stronger medication during a long string of procedures, because I was already comfortable and calm, and felt it was unnecessary. I'm always happy when I can decline to be more medicated. I suffered a very bad trauma at a dentist as a child, which still affects me as PTSD (anxiety, fear, sensitivity, etc.) and manifests hours before I even step foot in the dentist's office, but I have had 2 different appointments at Holladay Dental Studio, where a lot of work was done on my mouth, and I was also lightly sedated. I tolerated the procedures very well, thanks to both the medication, and the entire staff of Holladay Dental Studio reassuring me, using many different, effective techniques to minimize my PTSD/Stress Response/Anxiety/Fear, including Dr. Ericksen's amazing bedside manner, the nitrous, the medication, providing audio and visual distractions in the form of music and television/movies (a ton of programs to choose from), and also the fact that they worked quickly so that I didn't need to be there any longer than necessary. In addition to accommodating my sedation requests/requirements, Holladay Dental Studio/Dr. Ericksen/The Staff provided me with the highest quality dental work available, the highest quality/most advanced technology, tools, techniques, and components. All of this is provided in a new, clean, comfortable office, where refreshments are provided and they even have a menu of "Comfort Items" you can order from when you arrive in your treatment room and sit down. I can honestly say that Dr. Erickson and Holladay Dental Studio will continue to be my oral healthcare providers forever! This place is weird. It looks like people here like the "spa"-like qualities, but I find the extras unnecessary and almost off putting. They are things like warmed cookies, tumblers to take home, etc. It's all VERY superficial and superfluous, and there is a Stepford Wife vibe to the place. They took me on a "tour" of the office on my first visit, which consisted only of a stop at the doctors' certifications on the wall and an x-ray machine. I would much rather them forego these extras and reduce their exorbitant prices. read more

Okay, so I have been searching for a dentist for a while and because I have dental anxiety, I wanted to find a place that made me feel comfortable. When I read the great reviews of Holladay Dental Studio, I was intrigued as so many people said it was an amazing spa like experience AND the dentistry was great. So, I called to book and appointment for a cleaning and exam and they got me in the very next day! And, yep, I gotta say, the experience was amazing. The staff were very welcoming and it did, indeed, feel like I was walking into a spa. They checked me in, showed me the waiting area that has a delightful snack bar area. There was soothing music playing. And, if you want to brush your teeth before you exam, there are toothbrushes and toothpaste in the beautiful bathroom...again very spa like. When Lisa (the amazing hygenist) brought me into the exam room, she handed me a delightful gift bag and said it was a welcome gift from everyone in the office. Wow! Talk about feeling welcomed! Then she handed me a "menu" of things that I could choose from for my experience while in the chair. I picked the massage chair option and she handed me the remote and, ah, so good on my back. I also opted for a pillow but declined the music headphones and the TV option. Lisa did an amazing dental cleaning and explained what she was doing along the way, which I really appreciated. Then Dr. Erickson came in and did the exam and all was done...very smoothly, efficiently and comfortably. Then...the final amazing thing...they handed me a damp, warm eucalyptus scented towel to wipe my lips. Pure heaven. So, as you can see, my experience was amazing. I felt valued and pampered and it definitely helped make the experience of going to the dentist a positive one. I can stop telling people about it! read more

First off, this is the nicest dental atmosphere I have had. The staff are always friendly and helpful and kind. But second of all, I just want to say how much respect I have for them for keeping their word. They said that if I referred someone I would get a little Giftcard. I referred my husband, who was going to a different dentist. I didn't know if that would count but he let them know I recommended him. A couple days later I got the Giftcard in the mail with a little note. To me, it really spoke volumes that they would honor their word about recommends. At the same time, I am struggling with an apartment that has signs posted about referrals and I told them over and over that I was referred by a resident but they have been trying to get around paying the person who genuinely referred me. It isn't about the money in either case, it's about honesty. I did 4 stars only because I don't know that they are the most affordable and I've only had my teeth cleaned ( a few different times now though). But I am super happy and would definitely recommend them. On that note, if one of the reviews on here encourages you to visit, let them know who at the front desk. This is my honest review. This place is the worst, they will try to schedule work in that is not needed and they will only offer the most expensive options. I let them do a crown on a tooth about a year ago and now it's always sensitive. The process of having it done was awful. They completely screwed up my measurements the first time and the second time their technician still couldn't figure out how to use the tool correctly so I sat there for two hours not even numb while this girl figured out how to do it. They grinned the living tooth down so far that none of my 4 temporary crowns would even stay on. It's only a matter of time until I'm gonna have to have that tooth replaced completely. Now let's talk about the suggested cavity work I allowed them to do it's absolutely awful, if I wasn't so embarrassed about it I would post a picture. Basically they filled the front end of my teeth in with some grey material so when I smile you see grey on the front of my teeth. I really wish I had something nicer to say about the dentist here but they suck this place sucks they are running a show on you to make you feel good but they just want your money. read more

I highly recommend getting a second opinion when visiting this dental office. I was intrigued with the $29 cleaning, exam and X-ray promotion, but was skeptical after being told I had 8 cavities which would cost $2,000 to fix. Yes, they flatter you with a menu of chapstick, cold water, hot towel and a gift bag, but I am wanting an honest diagnosis of my X-rays. I had Holladay Dental Studio email me my X-rays and sent them to my dentist of 20 years. Not telling him what I was quoted, he examined my X-rays and teeth to find that I had NOT ONE CAVITY. I started my search to find a dentist a few weeks ago because I knew I had a cavity that needed to be taken care of. Due to my EXTREME dental anxiety, the Holladay Dental Studio seemed like a good fit. I emailed them immediately because of the consistent jaw pain I was having, and someone got back to me immediately on a WEEKEND! I was in for an appointment that Monday, and I was blown away. I was so incredibly anxious and they made everything so easy. They told me I needed two fillings, and they offered me the "laughing gas" and I fell asleep during most of the procedure. Dr. Erickson was so kind and knowledgeable, and his assistant Brittany was so kind and conscious of my fears. The customer service is like no other. They have a spa like setting which makes every office visit very relaxing. Imagine feeling relaxed at the dental office?? I always get a thorough exam and cleaning, but it never takes too long. At my most recent visit I also really appreciated that they offered me a blanket and heated dental chair.
