I cracked open my tooth on NYE! Sounds like it should be some epic story about doing a flip during a break dancing dance off at the club or jumping in the middle of bar brawl but no. At 1 pm on NYE, I bit into a popcorn kernel and 1/3 of a molar busted off. With all-night and into the morning plans in place, a 4-day weekend of holidays and closed offices approaching and a buddy visiting me in South Beach, I knew this needed to be remedied that day. I called my former dentist (office was closing in an hour and they wouldn't see me) and then 20+ dentists throughout Miami Beach and on to the mainland, no answer. I found Dr. Plitt on Yelp and gave it a shot....The office was open, Dr. Plitt was there, Phyllis assured me that they could see me right then and his office was right down the street (ironically in the same building as my former dentist). I came into the office in a bit of a panic and in pain and immediately everyone was very friendly and helpful. Once I sat in the dentist chair, I breathed a sigh of relief (not the typical response). Dr. Plitt did a thorough examination and created a temporary crown so I could enjoy my New Year's weekend. I found my new dentist! Through the process of trying to get an implant and then ultimately settling on a bridge, Dr. Plitt and the rest of the staff were very friendly, thorough and helpful with dealing with my insurance. Dr. Plitt explained in detail the technical aspects of the different ways to fix my tooth and was clear and upfront about the associated costs. He prepped, molded and installed my bridge and it fits perfectly...I can now eat on that side of my mouth, which I had avoided due to discomfort. Dr. Plitt is top of the line. He is conservative in his approach, explains everything, is easy to speak with and makes dealing with serious issues and emergencies, both of which I've had, so simple. Today I had a tooth extracted (my first extraction ever) and it was quick, no pain and very easy. Two weeks ago when I had a preventive cleaning, the hygienist was thorough yet extremely gentle and it was an easy session. By the way, Dr. Plitt's office is totally adhering to all Covid-19 safety measures and goes even farther in that each room has an air purifier. The booking is carefully done so that I did not have to wait and there was no one in the waiting room at the same time. Phyllis, the office manager, is highly efficient and very pleasant. Dr. Plitt was recommended to me by a friend. My family and I have been going to him now for 3 years and today, my youngest had her first ever cleaning and exam. I am happy with everything here. The wait time is short, the rooms and equipment are clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. My hygienist is awesome! Dr. Plitt is gentle and explains everything very clearly. He's more watchful rather than aggressive in his treatments, meaning he's not jumping to the biggest and most expensive procedure if it's possible that you don't need it. Even though I'm a long-time Miami resident, I had been living the last couple of years in Los Angeles. I moved back to Miami Beach last year and needed a dentist. I never choose a provider blindly so I asked my coworkers and the overwhelming response was to see Dr. Plitt. From the moment you pickup the phone to make an appointment with Phyllis, you feel taken cared of. She made my appointment and called me back a couple of minutes later to let me know what my insurance covered, etc. I could have chosen many glossy dentist offices off lincoln road that offer all kinds of crazy treatments like botox, but that's not me. I like my dentist to focus on being a dentist. And this is what this practice is about. On the day of my appointment I arrived a couple of minutes early. The allow you to fill out your forms online which is great. I did not have to wait at all to go see the dentist. Dr. Plitt and the dental hygienist were great and friendly. Always answering any questions that I had. I went in for a checkup, xrays, and a cleaning. And I was surprised to see Dr. Plitt actually performing the cleaning himself. They constantly asked me if I was ok and if I was comfortable. The equipment in the office was all high-tech, from the software they use to monitor your teeth to the ultra sonic cleaning tool they used. One of the most important things for me is not feeling like I'm being taken for a ride or being upgraded to things I did not need. The doctor was very open and honest and did not push any service I didn't need or enquire about. I had an amazing experience, and even though this was my first appointment, they made me feel like I've been coming to their practice for years. I can't believe I'm the first person to write a review for Dr. Plitt. I really can't say enough good things. My bf has been going to Dr. Plitt for some time and likes him. I'm a transplant and like to do my own research about a place before choosing, so I wasn't sure where I'd go. I've been spoiled and have only had a couple of dentists in my life and one is my uncle. So my standards are high. Well, I ended up with an emergency and thankfully Dr. Plitt indeed is my man. I had a bit of a throb in the molar area that went from mild throb to severe pain in the course of several days. Tooth pain that morphed into ear and neck pain. Nightmare. I called Dr. Plitt. The first great thing is his office manager Phyllis. She's warm and funny while taking care of business. Love her. The office is in a great part of town(Arthur Godfrey/41st st)-lots if good spots to eat and tool around. His actual office is clean and attractive and calm. Dr. Plitt is that great combo of detailed and thorough, married to kind and sweet. And something that is VERY important to me-he completely includes you in the treatment plan. Upon realizing that I had a crack in my tooth (hence bad pain causing infection) and would need root canal ASAP, he acted quickly, simultaneously shooting the pic over to an endodontist while very clearly describing what his thoughts were. The endodontist referral was excellent(look for Dr. Kopf review)-Dr. Plitt set it up so I was expected at that office. Phyllis spoke with Dr. Kopf's office staff re my insurance specs...seriously this could not have been smoother. It was as if I was a member of their family. The tooth taken care of and all went well. Dr. Plitt is a fantastic dentist! Several years ago I was between dentists as my regular dentist had moved. Unfortunately, just at that time, I had a horrible dental emergency, days before boarding a plane to Europe. My periodontist recommended Dr. Plitt and he saw me straight away. I have been going to Dr. Plitt ever since. He immediately took care of the broken tooth on my dental implant (this is an extremely tricky procedure) and because of him, my teeth have never been in better condition. Dr. Plitt is thorough in his examinations and he stays current with the latest in dental technology. His equipment is modern and he explains and shares all the information on his screen with his patient. As a patient, you are informed and knowledgeable due to the time and effort he spends explaining your dental X-rays and your treatment. He is kind, personable, honest and helpful! Marry 03/23/2021 In October of 2007 I awoke on a Sunday with a terrible pain on the lower right side of my mouth. My usual dentist was unavailable and I needed help because my husband and I were soon departing on an extended trip to Europe that included a TransAtlantic crossing. Dr. Jared Plitt was the one dentist I called who offered me a next day appointment. After his excellent treatment, we took our trip and had a marvelous time. We were so pleased with the way Dr. Plitt treated me that he became our family dentist. Dr. Plitt is an excellent dentist, and always concerned about patient comfort. My husband had all but two back teeth when he passed away at aged 89. I am not yet a member of the denture class, either, and am considering cosmetic dental work at the age of 82. After all, I live on Miami Beach where everyone does something. The central figure in this review is Dr. Plitt. In the beginning, I was an extremely anxious patient. He always explains exactly what he plans to do and why. If I still have questions, he answers them. I am not in the least anxious anymore. I like going to the dentist! Dr. Plitt is highly intelligent with a keen sense of humor. I have gotten pretty good at laughing with dental equipment in my mouth. Dr. Plitt's spiffy office and extraordinary staffers are all part of the dental experience. After having a less then pleasant experience with a previous dentist I went to Yelp for help and I find myself wondering why I didn't come here for guidance in the first place?? I went to see Dr. Plitt based on the wonderful reviews and I found them all to be true. I originally went in for a second opinion and I was impressed with the amount of time and attention I was given. His diagnosis seemed on point where as I believe my other dentist was just guessing. Needless to say, I decided to stay with Dr. Plitt. it is refreshing to have a dentist that gives you his undivided attention while you are there instead of having 4 or more patients strapped into chairs, mouths open, ready and waiting for him to pop in for 5 minutes, or worse yet, to start drilling before the anesthetic kicks in. Not Dr. Plitt, he was nice enough to test my gums with cold air to see if I was numb, genius!! My last 2 dentists just started drilling and said "tell me if it hurts". No wonder I have extreme anxiety as soon as I sit in the chair! In my past experience during a procedure, I would lay there wondering what is going on in my mouth (not like I could ask) while the dentist has a personal conversation with his assistant, but Dr. Plitt will inform you what he is doing step-by-step. Dr. Plitt even did my teeth cleaning, in all my years receiving dental work, I don't ever remember a dentist performing my cleaning. There is something different about Dr. Plitt, he cares about you! I could say more, but to put it simply, he cares, the staff is super sweet and genuine, he will not try to talk you into unnecessary procedures, and if you don't have insurance, they work with you the best they can.
