first off I am a bit squirmish about having metal implements in my mouth or feeling any pain. Dr. Ilon is so kind and patient and really takes care to be sensitive and reassuring so I feel more comfortable, and can let go of my fears some. he's got a very gentle touch so you're not being manipulated how other aggressive dentists operate. He's got a very laid back manner though highly professional. if it wasn't for the fact that I hate metal in my mouth and the sounds of drills so much, he'd see me much more often! the customer service is excellent which is saying a lot in Miami much less on the beach. truly a gem in the heart of our beach city. and also, it's very reasonably price. you absolutely get your moneys worth. unless either one of us moves, I'll be seeing Dr. Ilon from here on out for my dental care, and the place is beautiful too! read more

I recently discovered that a friend of mine made out with a woman who's not fond of brushing her teeth regularly. After I stopped gagging and asked if her buttery yellows tasted like popcorn (no), I got to thinking: am I weird for enjoying going to the dentist? When I was a kid (a mere 11 years ago), we used to have time scheduled into our day for fluoride rinses and demonstrations of proper dental hygiene. White teeth, minty breath and oral health was something that was pushed at home and at school. Who doesn't want nice, clean teeth? Madness. I guess because I was one of the twice-a-day brushers (mouthwash and floss, too), I never had the fear of the dentist that my peers did. Ever the 'A' student, hearing check up after check up of ("Looks good") and getting in and out of The Chair™ in record time was something I enjoyed. So, when it came time to find a new dentist in Miami, I took the search very seriously. Dr. Carson has a comfortable office, located in the lower level of a Lincoln Road high rise. Getting into the building can be a pain in the culo, so adjust your schedule to make room for it. Once you make it to the office, check in with Bertha (super on top of things), sit down, read a magazine, and relax. I really like the trend in dentist offices to try and produce a spa-like environment. It's smart and you'll find this to be the case here. First timers can count on x-rays, a thorough exam by the good doctor (teeth, gums, lips, and cheeks) and an intense cleaning by the dental tech. Despite the thorough nature of the cleaning and examination, I never once felt stressed or in pain. Inasmuch as possible, they try to have a conversation with you to take your mind off of what's going on. After the exam (and compliments -- oh, the compliments!), it's time to make the next appointment and get the swag bag. It's the kid in me, but this is my favorite part of a visit to the dentist. Here, I am super impressed with the contents of the bag: multiple floss mechanisms, info on maintaining good oral health, a couple of different types of toothpaste, and the best toothbrush I've ever received. (Ten-year olds, get a hold of yourself) The head is really big and the bristles are strong and plentiful. There are FOUR types of bristles to enable a deep clean every time. Yes, I know what an odd review this is but a healthy, attractive smile/mouth is extremely important to me -- and it should be for you as well. No one likes a mouth of green teeth that looks like you spend your spare time chewing rocks and eating garbage. Take care of your mouth and teeth. Be healthy. read more

Dentistry without the Upsale Going to a dentist these days can feel a little like walking on to a used car lot. You just want to get your teeth cleaned or work done but then some dentists try to sell you all these "extras". All you want is quality, PAINLESS dentistry at a reasonable cost. Thats were Dr. Sheng comes in! Dr. Shengs' office is not the easiest to find in the Lower Level of a condominium building across from the Ritz Carlton, but the destination is worth the journey. Going through the door, her office is small but tastefully decorated in modern decor. There is water and coffee. Pilar, the receptionist will happily greet you when you come in. They are VERY good with working with insurance. I have MET LIFE which I highly recommend! Over the course of several visits I had EIGHT cavities fixed, teeth cleaning and scaling and a crown replaced (she dosent do root canals, but the referral doctor is also awesome!) I needed all that work having neglected my teeth for 7 years. The costs were more the reasonable with my insurance and Dr. Sheng gave me a whole plan of attack. All my work was EXPERTLY done! They really pay attention to an pain or discomfort that you many have and are VERY careful all along the way. After some nightmare experiences at the dentist, it was a pleasure going to Dr. Sheng. SHE EVEN CALLED ME PERSONALLY AFTER ONE PROCEDURE TO MAKE SURE I WAS OK.!!! So if you are looking for good, quality dentistry at a reasonable price without all the "upsale" I HIGHLY RECOMMEND using Dr Sheng! I hope here practice is around for a LONG time. read more

TOP NOTCH....The only description that I can use for Dr. Carson and his office staff. I had just lost my previous dentist, who moved out of state, and was in search of a new one. This was fortunate for me as I've now found the best dentist and staff around. Dr. Carson is the first dentist I've ever been to who has been able to numb me for dental work with virtually no pain. Previous dentists have capped my teeth and it always required multiple visits to get them to fit correctly. With Dr. Carson, the caps have been perfect. After a biking accident and losing some front veneers, I went to Dr. Carson. When the initial veneers came in, the color was very slightly off so Dr. Carson took the extra step of having someone from the lab come into his office so that they could both determine the appropriate color. The resulting work is amazing - the color is perfect and the shape is better than what was there before. Bertha, his office manager, is a gem. Her ability to work with insurance companies and follow up with problems is unsurpassed. Jackie, his dental tech, gives the most in-depth , thorough cleaning I've ever had and Mayre, his assistant, is excellent. I can't recommend Dr Carson and his staff enough. Best Dentist on the Beach! I've experienced a few other dentists here and Dr. Carson is the best! The facility is calm and cozy and everyone that works there is super friendly. During my first visit, I took advantage of their $99 new patient special since my insurance at the time didn't cover Dental. This included x-rays, an exam and a comprehensive exam. The hygienist is very gentle , the girl in the front desk is very patient and kind, and Dr Carson is very professional. He answered all my questions and took his time to clarify all the exaggerations a previous Doctor had told me just to be able to charge me more. I found this place on yelp by carefully reading the reviews and they were all great, so I decided to give it a shot. Ive been to many dentists and I have to say that this place is very organized and maticulous with their work. The front desk (Pilar) validates parking and they give a couple reminders so you remember your appointment. The Hygenist is great as well. She gave me the most deep cleaning I ever had, it was the best Ive had. Dr. Sheng went through all my teeth and since I have a lot of work to do she gave me an analysis and to not overwhelm me, she created a dental plan where we would work on a couple teeth at a time. After every appointment Ive had, she calls at the end of the day to check on me and make sure everything is ok. The office is very clean and definitely professional. I highly recommend. read more

Dr. Carson took care of my teeth with invisalign to straighten them, next step was to give me veneers on the top because of some genetic stains in the middle of my front teeth that bleach can't remove. The work came out perfect. This guy is a perfectionist. Also, he is from the midwest (as am I)...he didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. P.S. We're from Northern VA but we make it a point to have Jacky clean our teeth while we are here for the winter. I almost hesitated writing a review because Jacky is in such demand that it's never that easy to get an appointment with her but she's a keeper. You just need to call ahead and plan your visits. Dr Sheng is new but we love her. They are both so thorough and meticulous. I always have a hard time getting my husband to go see a dental hygienist while we're home. Wish we could take them home. The whole process was smooth and I was seen on time for my appointment; valet parking (paid by Dr.) is one of a kind for South Beach, the staff is friendly and try their best to make you feel comfortable, no sales drama just honest advice. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! After moving from New York and having to find a new job, home, apt, mechanic, plumber,etc...you name it! I can honestly say that finding Dr Carson & his staff was a Miami Breeze! Sweet Bertha helped set up my first appointment, for which I made sure to be on time to make a first good impression! After having my first consultation this morning with Dr. Carson, I was also able to get my cleaning appointment as well... Due to a opening in his busy schedule, my luck!
