So I swore off SOF and went over to Thriftys. Now I'd always thought Thriftys was much more expensive, but it's really not that much depending what you buy. And the quality... well, there's no comparison. You do get what you pay for. This Thriftys has very friendly staff who all recognize me and always say hi. I buy a lot of fresh veg and bananas, and the produce is excellent albeit a little higher priced. But I'll pay a little more for consistency which saves me time going to another store. I've also always had very positive interaction asking if they have more/bigger in the back. Well stocked shelves, very clean store, lovely bakery, nice variety (especially considering it's a smaller store), nice atmosphere, and great floral department. Some good snack and lunch ideas in the deli department. The store may be small but they almost always have what I want and more. One stop shopping 99.9% of the time. Their customer service is excellent. I also want to mention one specific experience. I'm a local shop keep and my two door freezer went down one day. I went over to Thriftys and asked if there was any chance I might be able to store some inventory in their freezer for a day or two til mine got fixed. One of the owners said they didn't really have the space (like I said, it's small store), but then he looked at me and said, "You know what? We'll make the space for you." I was so grateful. Turns out I didn't need to take him up on it after all, but his willingness to help me out really carried a long way. Life long customer right here! Check em out!

They offer a wide variety of produce and speciality foods. I have discovered some of my favorite new items through purchasing through them, and for a shop of this calibre, the prices are good too. Their delivery service is prompt in that you can select a delivery for the following day, and their deliveries are well packaged, sustainable and returnable/recyclable. Their delivery person is also really nice, which can change, but is a nice bonus. I'd say their website user interface needs some help, as things go missing in my cart without notification, but that's a minor nit to pick. The best aspect of this company is their customer service. They are very considerate of their customers - I once ordered some chips and was given a small discount after purchase because of the short shelf life. Aisle after aisle, and the only thing that looks enticing is the exit. I'm being brutal on this Save-On, because it has ravaged not only my wallet over the last year, but also my colon. I have inadvertently packed out more spoiled meat to my car from this location than from any other grocery store in my life. Last week was the final straw. I purchased a ready prepared chicken from the deli, only to discover that the bird had been in a state of decay before it was cooked. As well, on one visit, I overheard the manager bragging to someone over the phone that he had been harassing one of his staff. The manager chortled merrily as he recounted the tale. Rotting meat, a belligerent tyrant of a manager, and a very high employee turnover. Not a happy mix.

We went on the second day after grand opening and the place was super packed. We have noticed they had a lot of Indian specialty items. The isles are very wide. Prices were definitely cheaper. There is a giant parking lot out front. Another great thing about Freshco is that they are beside the bus loop. Super convenient. We are happy this place opened up. The store before Freshco was Safeway (they closed down a year ago). The lot was left empty for awhile before Freshco popped up.
