The coffee was good the popcorn was very good. The place was very clean and I would gladly stop here if in the area. This was my first time actually flying into Chicago O'Hare to stay in Chicago. I think I've only…read morebeen through O'Hare before for a layover. It's definitely a big, busy airport lots of hustle and bustle and LOTS of people but overall, I found it pretty easy to navigate. The train station is farrr. One thing I liked was that there were plenty of food options and food courts throughout the airport. That's definitely a plus! Of course, the food was ridiculously overpriced, but hey, that's airport food for you. They could fix those prices if they wanted to but I digress. The bathrooms I used were pretty clean, which is always important. The one thing I did notice was that some of the gate areas seemed really small. Maybe it's just the way they're set up, but with so many people waiting to board, they definitely felt cramped. Overall, though, getting in, getting around, and getting out was pretty easy. For such a large and busy airport, I didn't have any major issues navigating O'Hare.

This airport is huge, it can get very hectic, but the good news is that, whether it's security, or…read moreyour airline, they have the logistics down. You can get in and out fairly quickly. If you're waiting for anything, there's not a ton of restaurant options for its size, and during prime time, it can be tough to find somewhere to sit. If you're arriving and exiting, you really need to know where you're going. Getting a rental vs an uber or going to parking can be confusing if you don't know what you're doing. An airport isn't necessarily a place to enjoy yourself, but in the event you have to do so, your choices are minimal here.

A few start up airlines have operated out of GYY but unfortunately these airlines have failed in these difficult economic times. If a major airline starts service here, this airport can be very successful. This could relieve traffic at O'Hare and Midway. Many of those in northwest Indiana could benefit as well. The perpetual road construction projects and traffic on I-90 and I-94 out to O'Hare has cause many travelers to miss their flights. It's close proximity to the South Shore Railroad makes access to this airport very easy to get to. Once their master plan is complete, I would hope service from the major carriers start up. Boeing parks their corporate jets here at GYY.

Making a trip by plane for the first time in over 20 years wasn't as bad as I thought thanks to South Bend Airport. Headed to Punta Gorda, a 2ish hour plane ride, we used this location to get there. Things were quick and no issues. We had some extra time before heading off so we got the chance to look around, grab a snack and even sit for a bit before take off. Not a lot of food options, which isn't too surprising for such a small airport, and that was truly the big downside. The only restaurants I saw were Bar Fly and the Chocolate Cafe, both of which were decent. If you're needing food before a flight it's a good spot to grab a quick bite.
