This is an incredible wine and spirits shop in Jasper. Not your run of the mill shop with the basics - they have a dizzying and extensive collection of incredible labels. We love Australian wines and I truly haven't seen a collection this comprehensive outside of Australia. The owner was so knowledgeable and brought us some choice options that we were thrilled to enjoy...spying the exhaustive collection of gin on the way out the door made us super jealous that this amazing shop can't ship to us in New York. We visited Jasper for three days, and we were very grateful, that we found Jasper Liquor Store. The selection of wine and beer was marvelous, we could choose between 700 types of beer. We also tasted many good wines, red and white, when we were staying in Jasper. If you want to find a very exclusive wine, you have come to the right place, going down to their basement is like finding a treasure chest of wine. Came to this specific liquor store based on other reviews and it's spot on. Small place but has a nice selection. I came in for beer but was greeted nicely at door and felt, let's see what they have to offer. So I started asking about local gin and they did have a decent selection. And the best part, she's like would you like to try the difference. I'm like sure! And she brings me two samples. I perused the whiskey selection, saw some stuff but didn't get blown away. And then I made myself over to the beer room. Each items sign has where it's from and the price. I liked how they told me where it's from because not like I could tell from the bottle or can. This place has a beer selection that competes, and even beats, many places you'd find in a major city. It's more of a bottle shop than even a 6-pack shop. They have a ton of stuff I have rarely seen outside of a tasting or mega-store. To find this type of selection in Jasper is pretty amazing. Being a non-Canadian, the prices on alcohol looked steep, but I think that's just the Canadian crazy-high taxes. Beer prices were pretty reasonable overall. If you can't find something unique to drink here, you're in the top .5% of drinkers....I've had well over 1,000 beers and there were a lot in here that I was chomping at the bit to buy. read more

They have a good selection of micro brews, but a very unhelpful staff. The staff probably is more helpful when it comes to wine. I asked about IPAs and what was the best local brew. The guy just pointed out every IPA on the shelf and said these are IPAs as if I could not read. As far as hop profiles and localities he seemed bewildered at the question. read more
