One of the playgrounds is named after Zahra Baker and I'd suggest you not go look up that name. The park is handicapped accessible including some of the rides. The four baseball fields are lighted. Parking was very limited today with lots of parents bringing their kids and hanging out. I managed to find a legal spot in front of a home on a cross street. Don't block driveways or fire hydrants! Best of all it's free to the public. It has fields, colorful playground equipment and tennis courts. Next to it is also a splash pad. There are several areas to get out of the sun and cooking areas. I think the Kiwanis and Zahra Baker parks are named for the adjoins areas of the park.

The low A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, the Crawdads have seen their share of baseball talent move up the minor league ladder. And that means Hickory and the surrounding area has a chance to see THE SHOW'S future. Very affordable tickets, fine enough concessions (maybe the best hot dog I've had at any minor league park!), family fun with games and a carousel, concerts after games and let's not forget Thirsty Thursdays and Fireworks weekends! Sometimes as game time nears, the sun is low in the western sky, the air is clear and off to the north you see the mountain profiles and understand why they'er called the Blue Ridge. The playground has all sorts of climbing and swinging things going on that are ideal for helping your toddlers burn off energy. There are tables and benches for picnic and lots of shade. Plenty of spots for the grownups to sit while the little ones play. The park opened in December 2016.
