Our vacation was perfect from the minute we arrived. Our cottage was beautiful, the service was PERFECT, and it really felt like we lived there. It was a great time for our family to reconnect and enjoy a true cottage experience (but much more luxurious). The kids loved getting up early and swimming until sunset. The end of our trip was much better. Jayne's sent employees to clean up the goose droppings and compensated us for the inconvenience.

STAY AWAY! I wish I had read the reviews first. The other two 1 star reviews capture the experience perfectly. We rented a luxury cottage for a family trip. We had people traveling from many locations, so we prepared in advance. We chose the cottage we did because of the lake and sandy beach. First, let me say that the cottage was beautiful. The house is very pretty, and special. But that's about where it ends. The issues started at check in. Ivanna our "concierge" wasn't there on arrival and we had to call her. She is supposed to be a local guide, but didn't know anything about the cottage and didn't even know how to connect to the wifi. She kept referring to the laminated "guide" which wasn't up to date . Issues with the cottage: (that was supposed to be inspected in advance) - The small bunkie didn't have a locking door, and was musty. Supposed to be a queen bed, but it didn't. - two of the bedrooms have no furniture beside a bed and one night stand. No place to put clothes and no closet. One of the "bedrooms" is on a landing with absolutely no privacy. - the kitchen, bathroom and laundry room had a lot of the owners stuff around. Clothes, shoes, food etc where filling the closet and most of the drawers. It felt less like a luxury rental and more of a cottage that you had borrowed. There were a lot of itms you would expect that were missing (i.e. Wine glasses) And then the service. We had written in our contract that we had use of the owners boat. Upon arrival we asked about how to get access and Jayne told me to go talk to the owner ourselves. Some concierge service! The owner was away so we texted Jayne again. And then we were told that the boat was broken "and sorry". Wow, so apparently contracts and commitments mean nothing. After a lot of pushing she finally relented to uphold the contract. But we had to call and text many times. And the final straw was the mid week cleaning which never happened. Although it is promised in her contract and was supposed to happen. The follow up and follow through was non existent. Once Jayne has your money the service ends. Overall, this was not a luxury experience, and there was no "concierge" service. You would be better with air bnb that promises no service. read more

I have never written a review but I feel compelled to do so now. We have used Jayne's cottages on 4 separate occasions and the reviews that I have read do not reflect the service that we received from Jayne's cottages, Jayne herself and her staff. The service has been exceptional, her staff is helpful, friendly, attentive and responds to emails and any questions you may have right away. The cottages that we have rented have been everything we expected and more. We have never been disappointed and it is because of Jayne's cottages that we come back to Muskoka every year. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. If paying premium prices for terrible service is your idea of a great family vacation then Jayne's Cottages is the agency for you. We arrived to discover a power and water outage in the cottage of which the manager was aware but elected not to inform us. We started our vacation hauling buckets of water from the lake to flush the toilets. On the bright side, perhaps it was a good thing that the power was out as it took longer for us to realize that the house had not been cleaned properly since the last rental. Over the course of the week we discovered the following: 1. The owner had changed the password to the internet and informed the manager but Jayne's Cottages did not think it important enough to let us know. 2. The hot water was not working in the bunkie 3. The propane for the range had not been checked or filled prior to arrival so we lost the ability to cook in the middle of preparing a meal (on the second day!) 4. Promised amenities in extremely poor shape 5. Boat house covered in peeling paint. 6. Exposed nails on the dock (it is a good thing we have all had our tetanus shots) 7. A dozen (no exaggeration) remote control devices for the three TVs with no instruction. We could not figure out how to use them. 8. That once Jayne's Cottages has your money, they become very non-responsive with respect to solving any problems. For an agency that describes itself as offering "Luxury Rentals & Concierge Service", the quality and service we received was disappointing. For all of our troubles, Jayne's Cottages offered us 10% off of a future stay. Overpaying once for shoddy service is one time too many. read more

We rented a "luxury" cottage from her website for $5000 for the entire week. Pictures from her website looked nice so we were surprised to find the cottage in horrible condition when we got there. It was not pre inspected and cleaned prior to our arrival. Every surface of the cottage was layered with large clumps of dog hair and dust. I took a baby wipe to the kitchen countertop and the wipe turned black. The cottage felt like it hadn't been occupied for the entire year. The basement smelled like mould. Linens were supposed to be clean but were extremely dirty. The ceiling was leaking water during a rain shower in one of the bedrooms. The laundry machine was layered with dog hair and dead bugs,when we turned it on to rinse off the bugs our water supply for the rest of the house stopped running for 3 hours. Our water supply was yellow in colour. There's junk stuffed underneath the master bedroom bed. This cottage was anything but luxurious. It was so dirty my toddlers clothes were layered with dust and hair within 5 minutes of being there. We brought up these issues with Jayne after checking in at 4pm, she sent a cleaner in to spot clean the house. However later that night after discovering the extent of the situation I brought up my thoughts on her misrepresenting her "luxury" cottage rental, her solution was for us to check out immediately at 10am the next morning and she would refund us $4000. How is that even acceptable? We ended up staying because we had already travelled very far for a family reunion vacation and my sons 2nd birthday and it was too late to find other accommodations. Bottom line. She definitely did not deliver on her brand promise and could care less about her guests. read more

This was our first time to the Muskoka Lakes region. From helping us pick out a cottage that was perfect for our family to booking a ski boat and arranging tubing equipment. Jane was a very helpful. I would highly recommend Jayne's Cottages. We had a fantastic vacation, and it all started with Jayne's help. read more
