The lakeside Boathouse Restaurant is OK but mainly casual and for me uninspiring fare. Service is efficient and staff attentive. Somewhat expensive but reflective of the resort and its generally well-heeled clientele. The Chalet/Condominium style accommodation, not that we experienced it, has catering facilities. This would be advantageous for many as nearby Gravenhurst offers limited and unexciting dining and Bracebridge much the same. During our stay it was mainly large families and the beach areas were lively and crowded, although guests had the option of three pools in the complex.. The attached golf course is renowned and highly regarded in the golfing community and not for high handicappers. Again, another expensive aspect of this resort. However, If you are not budget conscious and enjoy spectacular views and lake activities it should easily provide a satisfactory break or vacation for every age group.

They heard we had recently got engaged so when we arrived there was a lovely note from the staff saying congratulations. One year we came up for thanksgiving which was a couple of days after my husband's birthday and when we got to our room there was a lovely happy birthday card and a bottle of wine which we enjoyed while watching the sunset. The golf course was lovely. It was perfect for both our levels, challenging but fun. They space out tee times so you really feel like you are the only ones on the course. We always have a great time at Taboo and we'll keep coming back! :D

Upon our arrival, we are given a tour of the beautiful house, with its own library, guest living space with a small kitchen fully stocked with teas, and the dining area for breakfast. The house is beautifully decorated and makes the perfect set for taking pictures for our special occasion. We got the Whispering Pines Room which is the largest with a balcony and fireplace. Inside the room: - A mini fridge with milk and cream - A Keurig with complementary coffees, teas and specialty hot chocolates - A Dyson fan & thermostat controlled fireplace - An Apple router (super fast internet) - A TV loaded with Netflix for your chills ;) So first impressions are damn impressive, but it doesn't end there! The washroom is loaded with an extensive array of toiletries that you won't even find free in many luxury hotels, like nail polish remover, deodorant, brand new sleeping eye mask and more! The shower has both a regular handheld shower head and a rainfall one, with temperatures on an individual dial with numbers you can adjust (no hot lava vs icy cold settings here!). You also get your own spa bathrobes, I mean WOW. Breakfast is also a gourmet experience I would have happily paid more than $20 a person for. Darlene is very passionate about cooking and sources the best ingredients for her guests. On both days, we woke up to a 3 course breakfast. For my 2 days I got: 1. Fruit parfait; pear and nut muffins; sausage, scrambled eggs and french toast with an apple chutney 2. Citrus and yogurt plate with pistachios; cranberry scones; mixed herb eggs benny on potato cakes with bacon Everything had a unique spin and you can just tell the love that went into the food. You just feel so spoiled with your own personalized pot of tea or coffee, homemade butters and jams. She also checks with your allergies, dietary restrictions and preferences when you book and after you check in. Also, we didn't have snow tires so we had a lot of trouble going up their sloped driveway but Bob was nice enough to park for us. I would very very strongly recommend them to anyone for a special occasion and can't wait to go back!

There is a Sandy beach, a pool and a hot tub. For kids, there are structured activities for different ages. I saw kids working in teams to complete a scavenger hunt. They also have a park, games room, toddler room and karaoke on Friday's. If you want drinks during the day you can BYOB or there is a cash bar by the pool. Also it's up to you to bring snacks of you need something in between meals. In case, they sell chips and ice crwam at the reception desk if you are desperate! My Favourite so far....was dinner time!!! After fun in the sun it was nice to sit down for a nice dinner. We got a basket of mixes bread at oi4 table as we sat down with a large pitcher of water. I tried the chicken cordon blue because it's not something I usually would order. It was so tender and the cheese oozed out when I was cutting it. It came with red potatoes and fresh vegetables. To top it off I got a butterscotch sundae... so on point!!! Looking forward to trying out the lunch and breakfast.

I got to meet the sous chef who was in Europe for some time who came to assist the main chef at the lodge. I had Venison for the first time, the lamb was to die for, the chicken as well, their meat was tender. It just seemed so fresh for a lodge, I was impressed. The french fries are sooo good. I dont even eat much carbs but every lunch I ordered a side. Lunch is not bad, but I dont think its anything worth raving about. Breakfast is harty and always have fresh fruit, eggs, yummy bacon and juices. The last night we were there they did a bbq, we really appreciated that they did that for us.

There were only two servers for a full dining room. The quality of the food was poor, and the prices sky-high. One suspects there are substitutions. Our fish terrine was three slices of salmon that looked like rollmops, on lettuce. Our filets of pickerel and trout were good, but served with what tasted like parboiled rice, three desiccated spears of a asparagus (inedible; I tried), one carrot split in half and a few green beans. This was $40. A glass of reconstituted orange juice was $4. The chef's resume on the inn's website is stellar, so I cannot help but suspect budgets are factor. Perhaps this is for some a pleasant throwback to Muskoka past. I found it a cynical money grab.

While the layout of the room was peculiar (I'm always confused when the bathroom sink is in a different area than the bathroom but in this case it also serves as the kitchen sink so guess that makes more sense than having a coffee maker in the bathroom...) it is quite spacious and painted in a light colour scheme to aid in the sense of space. Some minor housekeeping elements missing (no coffee cups, water and only one chair for sitting inside, no place for snowy boots and stuff to dry out) I imagine these small things will get improved upon over time. Snow management outside the rooms Could also use some TLC but appears there had been carpet once on the landing so likely need that fully removed to be able to shovel properly. The price was appropriate and the location perfect for a walk downtown or ventures to the natural attractions upraise of town.

The campsites had just the right amount of privacy. The only downside is noise. Unfortunately, it was not "radio free" for us. Someone was signing karaoke late into the night.

I needed a place to stay for a night over the long weekend. It was just me and a friend, we didn't…read moreneed anything fancy at all. I googled "motels in Bracebridge" and found Cedar Lane Motel. It had the best rates, and vacancy! This motel is pretty small, but has a beautiful looking pool. It's located in a nice area, very close to a plaza and Tim Horton's. The room was a very standard motel room, the kind you see in the movies. The beds were comfortable, and you could tell the bathrooms had recently been redone. It was a clean, comfortable room. What more can you really ask for? If I had one complaint, it would be that the bed is VERY close to the door, and it felt a bit weird being so close, but otherwise, this place was great. It was easy to book online, and easy to find. I would stay here again if the need arose!
