It's been years since I've stayed at a Holiday Inn and after seeing all the favourable reviews, we…read morebooked to stay at this property in Huntsville. The hotel is located across the street from Walmart and a few fast casual dining places. Check in was efficient. Covid screening was conducted. Hand sanitizer is available in higher traffic areas such as at check in and near the elevator. The room is clean and bed is comfortable. Fridge, microwave, an Keurig machine were available in the room. Free grab and go breakfast is also available including omelettes, sausages, pancakes, choice of prepackaged cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, bread, coffee, tea, and juice. For those interested in using the pool or fitness areas, proof of vaccination is required. Per the public health unit, only 1 person is allowed in the fitness area per hour (even if my hubby and I wanted to work out together). A comfortable stay for more reasonable prices than many other hotels in the area. Would definitely consider staying here again if in the area.

At the tail end of the colour season Mrs and I went for a weekend to celebrate our milestone event…read more Huntsville being the spot we did our first milestone, so we thought why not another one. We love the north, the autumn in the north and of course the colours. Check in was quick and pleasant stayed on the fourth floor and the view towards the back of the hotel was good. The room quite spacious and the king sized bed was perfect. The bathroom was clean and fresh and over all the hotel is a new and so everything looks fresh. The TV selection is limited with no premium channels. And as usual the remote just as many places we have stayed are slow to react - either low batteries or just the way they are. The breakfast is premise eggs, some meat options and toast, bagels, cinnamon rolls and machine that made pancakes. Which were not useful for us except for toast and bagels. The coffee very weak. Surprised to see non dairy milk provided for cereals and oatmeal which we were pleased. Would definitely return.

I went to Deerhurst for a company conference recently, it was my second time visiting, but I'll…read morecount it as my first time since I was able to experience much more of what it had to offer this time around. Driving up there with the fall colours - spectacular. It's really in a beautiful spot, so it had that going for it. It didn't have....much else? I mean granted - I was NOT going there for golf, and it's more of a golf resort. There is not a lot to do once you're there and it's off-season. We did the escape rooms (2 out of the 4) and they were FANTASTIC! Well put together, good props and the rooms were fun. They weren't too hard to figure out but a fun challenge. Aside from these rooms and some ax throwing...that's it for 'fun'. The restaurants were fine - breakfast brunch was a good mix, dinner was tasty...I had steak on one of the nights and it was delicious and made with care. Nothing stood out about the food, it tasted good and there was a decent variety to choose from. The rooms were very run of the mill, kinda outdated and what you might expect at an older resort in northern Ontario. Nothing to rave about. Was this the place I'd choose for a company retreat? Probably not - but only because you're stuck in 1 spot eating at the same places every day...but if you're only here for a day or 2, it would be ok.

We recently stayed her for our sisters wedding up in Kearney. We stayed in a 3 bedroom 3 bath. We…read morehad to call to have the fireplace serviced, it wouldn't turn off. They finally had to take it off the remote and we had to manually turn on/off for it to work. Then had to call because the AC wouldn't turn off the first night. My husband who is bald froze all night long. When the 'engineer' came out he couldn't figure it out and called to have another 'engineer' come out, who was a very condescending little man. I explained to him 3 times what the first man had said was the problem and kept trying to tell me I just needed to turn it off. Only to find out AFTER we left for the day, the condenser was bad. Also the sinks in the bathrooms were on a very slow drain. Also walking into the room the wood in the outside appears to be rotting away. Next up the spa... as I said we were there for our sisters wedding so they wanted a treatment. My SILs got a massage from the same woman, who was really looking for a talk therapist than a customer wanting a soothing massage. Both mentioned how much she talked, which you should never do as a therapist and both complained how much they hurt afterwards. I had a lovely woman, Yvonne, who gave me a great pedicure. The very young woman at the front seemed so disinterested in her job and helping people. I had to repeatedly go ask questions. The last question was I can't get in the pool area where my SIL was. Her reply was, I gave her the pass and she said she would wait for you. Not, here I will take you back and let you in or use your room key that will let you in. Really piss poor customer service. Dinner in the restaurant was so lackluster. 2 had linguine and clams/mussels. Between the two of them, less than 10 shellfish. My husband ordered the Mac n cheese and it was literally macaroni with some shredded cheese on the top and put under the broiler. I had overcooked flatbread. We tried to sign up for the escape room and couldn't get anyone to answer the phone. It would ring and ring then someone would pick it up and hang up. We finally walked down to the office several hours later and was told, "we just sold out". Well maybe if you had answered the phone in the first place we might have been able to do it. It is highly unlikely anyone would ask me to recommend a place up here Huntsville since I am from Southern California but I will NEVER EVER recommend this place. Shame on you Deerhurst, spend some of the money you are charging and fix this place up. You should be ashamed

No one ever answers the phone or the front desk when calling from within the room...we called to ask WHY IS THERE NO HOT WATER...is it a cold shower resort??? 3. Now terrified to order food from that restaurant...we should have done deeper review research We won't be back or recommend but we did manage to enjoy a nice swim in the lake This place could be renovated and turned into a super awesome place !!!!

Norman Bates would not have stayed there. I walked into their crappy entrance and noticed immediately the place needs to buy a broom and sweep up. Once inside the lobby I felt a quantum leap into the 1980s....um 40 years of decor no no's that was a no back in 1980. The checkin lady was nice but had zero hospitality training. But the concierge was clueless... oh wait there wasn't one. My favorite part was Lake E.coli - I mean it was late September and already cold so I didn't need to be greeted on checkin with a big sign stating the lake was closed for recreation because of Escherichia coli that s a Gram-negative, facultative anaerobic, rod-shaped, coliform bacterium of the genus Escherichia that is commonly found in the lower intestine of warm-blooded organisms. Credit Wikipedia If you dare to stay bring your own booze, as the bar is only open from 5-9p. And you are going to need a lot of booze, some gummies, and maybe a few vicadin for good measure because no early checkin. They are hard core on 4pm checkin which in hindsight is fine because you will want to spend the least amount of time in the dingy - hey was there a sale on shit brown and peestain tan paint, craphole of a room. So because I could get in my room I took a stroll on the resort grounds - well that was a mistake, see pics. I used the gym which was nicely equipped and even had the smell of dead jimmy hoffa - awe the ambience. The lake was pretty to look at.... Fredo your my older brother and I love you, now you go swimming first and let me know how it works out. So not a great stay but boy did we have some laughs anyway. Ps the room photos are misleading because there is no scratch and sniff on them to enjoy the smell of death warmed over. Thank you Canada for legal weed as that was helpful too.

Upon our arrival, we are given a tour of the beautiful house, with its own library, guest living space with a small kitchen fully stocked with teas, and the dining area for breakfast. The house is beautifully decorated and makes the perfect set for taking pictures for our special occasion. We got the Whispering Pines Room which is the largest with a balcony and fireplace. Inside the room: - A mini fridge with milk and cream - A Keurig with complementary coffees, teas and specialty hot chocolates - A Dyson fan & thermostat controlled fireplace - An Apple router (super fast internet) - A TV loaded with Netflix for your chills ;) So first impressions are damn impressive, but it doesn't end there! The washroom is loaded with an extensive array of toiletries that you won't even find free in many luxury hotels, like nail polish remover, deodorant, brand new sleeping eye mask and more! The shower has both a regular handheld shower head and a rainfall one, with temperatures on an individual dial with numbers you can adjust (no hot lava vs icy cold settings here!). You also get your own spa bathrobes, I mean WOW. Breakfast is also a gourmet experience I would have happily paid more than $20 a person for. Darlene is very passionate about cooking and sources the best ingredients for her guests. On both days, we woke up to a 3 course breakfast. For my 2 days I got: 1. Fruit parfait; pear and nut muffins; sausage, scrambled eggs and french toast with an apple chutney 2. Citrus and yogurt plate with pistachios; cranberry scones; mixed herb eggs benny on potato cakes with bacon Everything had a unique spin and you can just tell the love that went into the food. You just feel so spoiled with your own personalized pot of tea or coffee, homemade butters and jams. She also checks with your allergies, dietary restrictions and preferences when you book and after you check in. Also, we didn't have snow tires so we had a lot of trouble going up their sloped driveway but Bob was nice enough to park for us. I would very very strongly recommend them to anyone for a special occasion and can't wait to go back!
