I started out with Jaz Hair Studio for years. My hairstylist has since started her own successful business but I still frequently stop in for a haircut. It was the last minute right before Christmas week that I walked in for a haircut. I'm pretty easy just cut and go. As I knew it may be not good timing but fortunately for me I got this young girl name, Marlee. She is fresh out of school and very pleasant to speak with. She greeted me with "sure I can do it"! She gave me one of the best cuts ever! It was a chance to get the last-minute walk-in appointment but I'm sure grateful she did. I will be seeing her again for sure. This place is fine, but the "stylist" Christine should not be doing hair. I'd be surprised if she were licensed, she's definitely not experienced nor professional. She washed my hair into knots, then proceeded to comb from the top of my scalp down which tightened the knots! So badly so that one of them had to be cut out. She broke/damaged other hair yanking and forcing the comb through. Absolutely unprofessional, and should not be doing hair. DO NOT TRYST THIS PLACE, THIS WOMAN SURE SCREWED ME. read more

I had seen lots of signs around the Chapel Hill area for Jaz, and I really needed a haircut... and a new salon. My previous stylist at another salon had just gotten too expensive for me to keep going. When I entered Jaz, I was greeted immediately, and asked what kind of service I was looking for. I said I wanted a haircut, and preferred someone who was used to dealing with naturally curly hair. She said, "I have just the stylist for you!" and introduced me to Laura. Laura sat me down and asked me what I was looking to do, and I said, "Tame the beast on my head!" She laughed and took me to get shampooed. The cut Laura gave me was fantastic! She took her time and really worked on the layers, and made sure it was exactly what I had in mind. Then she blow-dried my hair and I was ready to go. It was a pleasure chatting with her while she did my hair. The final price for my haircut was $18-- a BARGAIN for a shampoo & professional cut! I made sure to grab a salon "menu" for the next time I come back. Pros: The salon is very clean and open. Each station has their own hidden wastebasket and broom, so there isn't hair tracked all over the place. The salon is bright and fresh, with vibrant purple walls and pretty artwork. Cons: The staff could use a more unified "look"... I noticed some jeans mixed in with some of the more professional attire. I've got no problem with a stylist in jeans, but it sticks out when everyone else is in dress pants. Also, the shampoo area was very open to the rest of the salon. I think I would have been more comfortable if it were hidden partially by a screen or curtain or something. Getting your hair shampooed is kind of a private thing, and I felt exposed in the middle of the room. read more

Don't buy their yelp deal of $20 for $35 service its a scam! I brought their deal and took an appointment, and got my hair done. They deny to accept the deal voucher saying that it's only for hair cut and blow dry, not for styling. read more

Found this salon via Groupon. Was a little leery at first, because when I called to schedule my cut for a Saturday, the person that answered told me they were wide open...not a good sign! However, when I arrived at 9:20am, I was pleased to see the salon buzzing and full. After relaying the story to my stylist, Candy, she explained they simply make all day available to new customers, which is a good policy, in my opinion. The salon is located in a plaza across from Chapel Hill Mall, and is nicely decorated. My stylist, Candy, was very nice and thorough with her consultation and cut. I plan to go back for my next cut, and perhaps highlights. read more

Had a yelp $20.00 for $35.00 service. The stylist, Erica, did an excellent job. Her consultation was very thorough. She made sure I understood what she was doing... The $35.00 included shampoo, conditioning treatment, cut and blow dry with round brush. Erica had a very professional attitude and was very pleasant. The salon was spotlessly clean.
