Has been unresponsive. No text/calls/emails - I have been trying to connect the past 2 months!

I have been filing my taxes here for several years and never had an issues when I was only filing as a W-2 employee. However, once I opened my own business, Darlene did not file my LLC fees correctly for 2 years in a row even though I paid her to do so. I have received underpayment penalties and late fees from the FTB as a result of her failure to do her job. I have emailed her 6 times in the last 3.5 months and called multiple times but am unable to leave a voicemail as her mailbox is full. read more

I have been going here for a few years and never had an issue until this year. I received a letter that a tax form was not filled out that should have been completed. It took us weeks to get a hold of Darlene to complete the form that is needed. We filed in February and we have yet to receive our return. I understand that the returns have been delayed due to COVID. My frustration is that Darlene told us that we should have received our return by now and that she would follow up and call us back. She has never called us back, we have called her several times and he response is the same, "you still haven't received your return?" And again, she says she will call us back. It's now been 9 months and still have yet to receive an "update" from her. The lack of communication is ridiculous and I would not recommend this place. Definitely not going back. read more

I wish I had seen the other reviews before using Darlene. She is unprofessional and does not follow through with her empty promises. The only way she will answer my call is if it's from a number that the assistant does not recognize. The assistant will answer and Darlene is supposedly helping another client and the assistant says Darlene will return my call which never happens. Darlene is fine to use if there are no problems. I have been a customer of this office for several years. In 2015, I bought an investment property in Hawaii. Darlene prepared my Federal return, California return and Hawaii return for a reasonable price last year in March. I subsequently encountered problems with my Hawaii Tax return where there were errors and I did not get the tax refund I was expecting. After consulting with Darlene regarding these issues in June, August and September, she told me 3 or 4 times that the problem was resolved and that I should expect my refund soon. In late November I still had not received my refund and after calling and leaving messages through the end of the year, Darlene stopped taking my calls and to this day has not returned calls after several attempts. Her mother, who runs the office, told me they have many customers and are very busy. Wow!!! If she had simply told me she couldn't or wouldn't help me, that would have saved me a whole lot of frustration, stress, time and anger. Where's the customer service? Getting my taxes done by Darlene was by far one of the worst experiences I have had with a business owner. Not only were my taxes filed incorrectly, communication with her was impossible. Once I received notice in the mail that my return was filed in correctly Darlene dropped off the face of the earth. She never responded to a single email or a single phone call. I ended up having to pay another REAL tax service professional to correct her errors. In addition to payment two people to do my taxes, I was also charged late fees & penalties for not paying on time because according to Darlene the letter from the state was incorrect. She directed me to hold off payment until she could get it resolved.... Needless to say, that never happened. Avoid dealing with this rookie at all cost. She is unprofessional, lacks knowledge in her profession & should not be trusted to handle anyone's tax return. read more
