It was settled in 1854, and today is home to around 3,100 San Sabans. Pecans became a big part of their economy in the 1870"s and today San Saba is simply known as the "Pecan Capital of the World". If you visit the Great San Saba River Pecan Company you can enjoy a complimentary cup of Pecan Coffee and sample their preserves. If you're lucky enough to visit between November and January, you can even pick your own pecans. We didn't travel to San Saba, but we did visit downtown Grapevine and saw their products in one of the many downtown stores. We came across a jar of their Peach Pecan and Amaretto Jam. Well, how can anyone in their right mind resist that? We had it with breakfast today and it was fantastic. Tons of peaches and pecans everywhere, swimming in an amaretto jelly. They have a nice website where you can order preserves, toppings, candy, baked goods, and of course pecans.

There are such cute things being sold here and also some really unique pieces. There's variety ranging from matcha whisks to fancy candles to handblown glass from Mexico here. I didn't end up with the bar yet, but bought a chest of drawers and a beautiful Longhorn carved mirror. The owner asked where we lived and didn't hesitate to offer free same day delivery when I told him we live in Leander, an hour away! Unbelievable! He was true to his word and had our items to us within an hour of us arriving home. We'll definitely be returning when we're ready to make our larger purchase and other items we may find to furnish our home. Great products and awesome customer service!
