Queensgate shopping centre is a modern and well designed shopping centre in the heart of…read morePeterborough shopping area. It has two multi story car parks which have always seemed very safe and secure when I have visited them. If you use the one closest to the centre you do not have to go outside. You access the centre via a road bridge from the car park. The main bus station is situated just below the shopping area with escalators and lifts to take you straight to the shops. Queensgate is clean and spacious with plenty of shops to keep you busy for the day and if you require the need of more shops its many exits lead you out onto other shopping streets in Peterborough. There are plenty of places to eat or get a soft drink. I do feel there could be more toilet facilities but as many of the stores do have customer toilets it's not a major problem.

At peak times it can be a bit of a nightmare getting into the car park, so be prepared for a bit of a wait, a week before Christmas last year on a week day I was stuck in the queue for the car park for an hour! The majority of the major stores are located in the shopping centre as well as plenty of eating places.

Rivergate shopping Arcade is situated just near the Asda in Peterborough, it is well worth a visit…read moreespecially if you have shopping to do in Asda as you can reclaim your parking fee at Asda checkout. It strikes me as a small but traditional arcade with some nice small shops and some of the better known shops are here. There is a Subway which is great for a bite to eat as well as a 'bistro' style restaurant. There is also an ideal world shop located here. The arcade is nicely laid out and very clean and a pleasure to walk around.

There is a large car park outside asda and a bus route just outside the court so rivergate is very easy to access. I find rivergate a great place to shop as there is a wide choice of shops to visit in such a small location. The italian restaurant is lovely and asda also has a restaurant above it so there is plenty of food outlets to choose if you dont want to walk too far. I find rivergate great if your doing a grocery shop and would like to look at a few clothes shops at the same time and it save the hustle and bustle of the main town centre. Rivergate is a great little place to visit and I would recommend it to anyone.

Serpentine Green - or Hampton, as I would call it - is a handy shopping centre in Peterborough…read more Whether you want to call in at the large Tesco or have a wander around the shops, it's a great contained area, good for a trip out when the weather is bad. To begin with shopping, as is the best way, there is a Next, Outfit, Mothercare, New Look, H&M, Boots and WH Smith, to name but a few. As Outfit include labels such as Miss Selfridge, Topshop and Dorothy Perkins, it helps to please everyone. The shops can get busy, especially if people decide to bring their trollies into the store (you can only get them outside, which really brings out the lazy in people) and inevitably cover up the till points. Food options are pretty standard, with places such as Subway and the Tesco cafe at the far end of the centre in a food hall style set up. The Tesco is 24 hours, and offers everything from food and salad bar to electrical and clothing and is much much larger than its Barhill cousin, which is closer to home. Check outs were busy on our visit, as they always are at Tesco, but staff were efficient enough. The car park is large, with what seems like plenty of disabled parking, so try not to lose your car!

The store itself is very calm and the product ranges seem to compliment who they are aiming their clothes at. Pricing tends to vary. I have noticed you can get great basics for a low cost, but higher end goods tend to be expensive but look good quality.

First the ground floor was completed and currently the first floor is having improvements made. Part of the Co-operative, you can earn dividends on your purchases here. It is a major department store in Peterborough offering clothes, shoes, kitchtenware, electricals, bedding, funiture, carpets, perfume and toys. The brands tend be aim ed at the more mature shopper, but they are good quality and priced accordingly. For something a bit out of the oridinary compared to chain stores, this would be a good bet. Since the store improvements, it has ecome much more pleasant place to shop, as well as gaining a coffee shop. I would say it is a good alternative to the high street stores, or even the nearby John Lewis. The service is always friendly and helpful. There are often good deals on things like towels and bedding making it ideal for students moving to university or young people starting out on their own who are on a fairly limited budget but still want good quality stuff for the house.
